Sage Books About Writing

Good morning, Dear Reader.

Today, I’m going to save you some money, money that is if you’re a writer and you’re looking for books that will help you with your craft. There are a plethora from which to choose; so, so many in fact that you might feel overwhelmed. I know I have and there have been many I’ve read, many I’ve seen mentioned and reviewed. There are few worth their weight in gold. These are the few I have discovered.

Stephen King’s On Writing – If you skip the autobiography stuff, you’ll find the book is teeny-weeny, but here less is more. The advice you’ll find is utterly sage.

The Elements of Style – Written by William Strunk, this book shares some things in common with King’s: it is brief at 58 pages and utterly useful. Best of all, it’s free on Amazon for Kindle. How can you pass that up? You can’t. GET IT. GET IT NOW.

Lastly, there is Elements of Fiction Writing - Scene & Structure by Jack Bickham. You can’t do without this. The book provides terrific advice on how to build a framework for novels.

There you have it, Dear Reader (or should I say in this instance, Dear Author?).

Happy reading!
