Napolean Hill’s Think And Grow Rich Book Summary
p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; line-height: 15.0px; font: 13.0px Arial; color: #333333; -webkit-text-stroke: #333333; background-color: #ffffff; min-height: 15.0px}
span.s1 {font-kerning: none}
What if you got to learn from the 500 richest people in the entire world? People like Henry Ford and Andrew Carnegie! That's what Napoleon Hill did, and he distilled the information into a classic guide to help you and me make more money, create more success, and live a higher quality of life.
The first of many book reviews is the classic THINK AND GROW RICH.
*** 10 BIG IDEAS ***
1.) Desire: If you want to create an amazing life, you have to first have a BURNING desire and a vision of what you want to create. Time to use your mind.
2.) FAITH: It is vital that you have faith or belief that you can accomplish your greatest desires. Remember that you would never have thought of your desires unless faith had been tugging at your mind.
3.) AUTO-SUGGESTION: AUTO-SUGGESTION This is the method of putting the sub-conscious mind to work for you through repeated suggestion. It is the faculty of being able to concentrate your mind on your burning desire until your subconscious mind accepts it as fact and starts to devise ways of bringing it about.
4.) SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: To be successful you will require specialized knowledge of what you intend to do in return for fortune. People talk about the fact that “Knowledge is power”. However it is only potential power.
5.) IMAGINATION: This principle reminds us of how powerful our imagination is and the importance of tapping into in order to achieve great things. It has been said that we can create anything we can imagine.
6.) ORGANIZED PLANNING: In his chapter on desire Napolean Hill talked about the importance of having a definite plan on how to achieve your goal. A man without a plan is like a ship without a course – no place to go with disaster a probability.
7.) DECISION: One of the common attributes of highly successful people is the ability to reach decisions quickly and to change them slowly. Conversely unsuccessful people procrastinate regularly and often take a long time to make a decision and then they change far too quickly.
8.) PERSISTENCE: This quality has often been the key difference between success and failure in countless cases studied. The lack of persistence has kept the majority from great accomplishment.
9.) POWER OF THE “MASTER MIND”: Throughout the book Napoleon Hill refers to a “Master Mind” group. The ““Master Mind”” can be defined as “Co-ordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose”.
10.) THE SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND: The Subconscious Mind is a field of consciousness where every impulse of thought that reaches the objective mind through any of the 5 senses is classified and recorded and from which thoughts may be recalled or withdrawn – the same way that letters can be taken from a filing cabinet.
So, have you read Think And Grow Rich? If so, what was one of your favorite takeaways from the book. I'd love to hear in the comments below.

How To Stop People Pleasing And Just Be Happy
Have you ever tried really really hard to get somebody to like you or to just make them happy and then all that happened is you became really really unhappy, really really tired and then they still didn't approve of you?
People pleasing is no way to live. We live in this world with good hearted people who want to make others happy. Whether it's your mom or dad, or it's a lover or friend, or it's a teacher or our peers, we want to make people happy.
It seems like the right thing to do, but the problem with that is if you give up what you want in order to try to conform to what somebody else wants, all you get is two people who don't get what they want.
In today's video, you'll discover why you should stop people pleasing and just be happy.
Much Love,
Jake

How To Stop Repelling Money
Forever I repelled money from me. When I was 19, one of the reasons I dropped out of college and began doing what I do now is because I learned of the fraudulence and corruption of our economic system. I justifiably thought that money was the reason our world is in shambles so I essentially hated money.
Over the first three or so years of my career as an author and speaker, I always made just enough money to keep going but never enough to not stress and think about it all the time. And that stress definitely did not help me live fully and serve people as powerfully as I could. And I thought that it was bad if I made a lot of money.
Now I realize that money is just a piece of paper. It’s greed and selfishness that cause us so many problems, not paper. It’s believing that we need to compete against others, drive sharp bargains, because there will never be enough. That’s the problem.
I see now that we cause ourselves so much stress by setting very low expectations around prosperity. We either think we don’t deserve, or it’s bad to have it. Really? It’s bad to have paper? Try trading rocks or socks you knitted for a ticket to Fiji or to put your child through school or buy insurance with love!!
Think of how much stress an unhealthy relationship with money causes you and those in your life. And think about how much more good you could do if you weren’t stressed about money all the time.
You deserve prosperity. Not to hoard but to circulate and use for your highest joy and to make other people’s lives better. You deserve to help other people create prosperity. You deserve to fund all the causes and charities and movements you desire. I invite you to embrace the fact that you deserve prosperity.

Be “The Bruce Lee” Of Your Success: Karate-Kick Your Fear, Master Your Money, Judo-Chop Your Limitations
I am going to literally show you how to be The Bruce Lee of your career path, and tell you the secret he used for his success…
Including how you can set yourself up for massive success by following the exact blueprint Bruce Lee used to go from unknown, to a world famous actor making millions of dollars and inspiring millions of people.
“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.”
– Bruce Lee
It’s amazing that people do not know how he became a world famous actor and made millions of dollars, but I’m about to show you what he did…
WARNING:
If you do not follow these steps you probably will
not be The Bruce Lee of your desired career path….
Okay, now I assume you’re ready learn how a relatively unknown Chinese martial artist from Hong Kong became a world famous actor, making millions of dollars, impacting the lives of millions of people, and left an eternal legacy behind him when his life eventually ended…
In January 1969 when Lee was 28 years old, and having minor success in the United States, he was not doing well financially. He had a wife and two children recently born.
It was not where he wanted to be in terms of his career success and financial security.
So what did he do…?
Simply work harder…?
NO…
He took out a piece of paper and wrote the following, which he kept in his wallet, took with him everywhere he went and read out loud every single day….
I, Bruce Lee, will be the first highest paid Oriental super star in the United States. In return I will give the most exciting performances and render the best of quality in the capacity of an actor. Starting 1970 I will achieve world fame and from then onward till the end of 1980 I will have in my possession $10,000,000. I will live the way I please and achieve inner harmony and happiness.
Bruce Lee
Jan. 1969

ACTUAL LETTER BRUCE LEE WROTE TO HIMSELF…
No…. This is not a joke….
This is literally what Bruce Lee did in order to take his career to the next level. The rest is history.
He did three things with the paper…
1.) He carried it with him everywhere he went.
2.) He worked everyday to move closer to the vision he’d put onto paper.
3.) He read it at least once a day.
Everyday he was cementing the fantasy deeper into his subconscious mind of how he’d like his life to be.
SIDE-NOTE:
Cementing an idea into the subconscious mind is exactly how hypnotism works. We know from countless studies that a person can become hypnotized to “moo” like a cow, behave like a dog, and all kinds of other strange things. This is because the hypnotist accesses a person’s subconscious mind and they begin to behave unconsciously in the way the hypnotist suggests. This is exactly what happened when Bruce Lee wrote down his dreams and goals and read them everyday—he was cementing them into his unconscious mind, slowly but surely he hypnotized himself.
Now I am going to explain to you why you will want to follow Bruce Lee’s example as soon as you finish this blog, and I am going to show you exactly how to do it.
First though, this is not philosophy…
This is neuroscience and psychology.
Psychologists tell us some 90% of our lives are unconscious.
This means that basically you are on autopilot based off what’s in your subconscious mind. To help you understand how powerful it is to suggest your dreams to your subconscious mind through the process of writing out your Definite Chief Objective, just as Bruce Lee did, I’ll break down the respective functions of the subconscious and conscious mind.
Conscious Mind…
This is the part of you that thinks and reasons. Your free will lies here. This is the part of your mind that can accept or reject any idea. For example, if I tell you the sky has never been blue and it’s always red, you will reject that because you are consciously aware that’s untrue.
No person or circumstance can cause you to think about thoughts or ideas you do not choose. The “thoughts” you choose consciously eventually determine what goes into your subconscious mind.
As you accept a thought, it is impressed upon the second part of your personality, your subconscious mind.
This is why every great achiever, leader, sage, philosopher, and spiritual/religious teacher has told us, “You become what you think about.”
Now that you understand the basic functions of the conscious mind, I’ll explain the subconscious, or unconscious part of your mind briefly.
Then we’ll send you on your way with your very own personal Chief Definite Aim, like Bruce Lee, so you can dominate your dreams, karate-kick fear, and judo-chop every challenge that stands between you and your desired lifestyle….
Sub-Conscious Mind…
This part of you is certainly the most magnificent and mysterious. Every thought your conscious mind chooses to accept, this unconscious part must accept … it has no ability to reject. This is the part of the mind that hypnotists access when they get you to behave in unconscious ways.
Any thought you consciously or unconsciously impress upon the subconscious over and over, becomes fixed in this part of your personality. Fixed ideas will then continue to express themselves without any conscious assistance, until they are replaced or overrode with another idea or image. (Fixed ideas are commonly referred to as habits and beliefs).
Why Are You Telling Me This?
It’s important to understand the subconscious and conscious minds, because then it begins to make sense as to why Bruce Lee wrote out his ambitions for life in a piece of paper and read it everyday.
You maybe wondering, why did he do that again?
Because the subconscious accepts and creates as your reality whatever is continuously impressed upon it. Just as a hypnotist commands your subconscious to bark like a dog, you can change the image of who you are and what’s possible for your life.
By writing your DEFINITE CHIEF AIM you are telling your subconscious mind what to create instead of having it create at default of what your past has been.
Now It’s Your Turn To Become Bruce Lee of Your Career Path And Master Your Wealth, Health, Happiness, and Love.
1.) Ask yourself, “What do I really want?”
2.) Ask yourself, “Is it true? Do I really want this, or am I settling and not using my conscious mind and imagination to really aim high with my marvelous mind?”
3.) Write out what comes to mind.
4.) Rewrite it just how Bruce Lee did… (example…)
I, Bruce Lee, will be the first highest paid Oriental super star in the United States. In return I will give the most exciting performances and render the best of quality in the capacity of an actor. Starting 1970 I will achieve world fame and from then onward till the end of 1980 I will have in my possession $10,000,000. I will live the way I please and achieve inner harmony and happiness.
Bruce Lee
Jan. 1969
NEXT STEPS…
Now that you’ve written out your aims for your life, you’ve begun to suggest it to your subconscious mind.
Most people never even do this. But if you actually study the world’s most successful people, almost all of them have done this…
Arnold Schwarzenegger says in his autobiography that one of the keys to his success was that he wrote out his dreams onto index cards and carried them around with him ever since he was just a young kid, all the way through his years as Governor of California.
If you go to the Smithsonian Institute and you see the Edison Exhibit, you’ll see his journal where he wrote a statement just like Bruce Lee did. He said, “I shall discover and deliver for the world a system of illumination to completely eliminate our current requirement on oil-lamp illumination.”
The truth is that most of the greatest achievers ever have written out a vision for their life. It’s not just Bruce Lee. It’s not just Thomas Edison. It’s not just YOU, once you do it…
It’s hundreds of the greatest achievers of human potential ever.
Now most of these people had no idea of exactly how they would make these dreams happen, they just knew they wanted it.
That’s the first step….
So the question is what do you want…?
What do you really want…?
Write it out on paper just how I’ve suggested and watch your life get even better than it already is. You can achieve good fortune, overcome fear, and become a force of nature.

Porn, Purpose, And Celebrity Butts: Finding Freedom In Your Faults
Yesterday I clicked on a site that said “Ten Best Celebrity Butts in the World.” I quickly realized I’ve clicked it once before.
That was sort of a pinch in my own butt. Get it?
I also conducted my first of many interviews for a virtual conference I am hosting later this year! It will be HUGE! Before I did, I watched porn. Ah!!!
At least a few times I’ve told myself I will never watch it again. My excuse was, “this will be the last time!”
The problem is that I made that excuse, like last week. I am happy though that I didn’t watch it for at least three months. And it is a trip how much I’ve cut watching it the last twelve months (almost never), compared to basically a habit I’ve had since I was 12.
I remember the first time I got caught watching porn. It was so embarrassing. I went to “girls.com”
And I was dumb and never cleared the browser.
Now I am at a total short of breath—I didn’t think I was going to write all this when I sat down. And my idea in this all is a couple things:
There’s no point in hiding things from yourself, and those around you. It eats you up, and you probably won’t realize the extent to which it does, until you become open.
Then, boom! You feel so much better—and you think it’s amazing that you never thought to do it before.
Currently, I am a bit upset at myself for ruining the flow of my writing. I just got up to turn my phone back on and text someone. So now I don’t think the writing is about porn as much as it is about freeing us and not hiding stuff. And by us, I mean me.
I’ve been doing a lot of self-critical thinking lately, something I wasn’t doing at all for about a year, on the count that I was “too busy and things we’re going too well.” Now I am coming to grips with the question, “What do I want from life?”
No—not to be a bestselling author and publish books. That’s BS and superficial.
What I really want is adventure. I just want adventure. So it is a good start that I am writing this, I suppose, as I don’t really want my mom to read the beginning, or my kind-of-new girlfriend. And I am concerned I will be judged by some of my readers, who will stop supporting me.
SIDE NOTE: I also don’t want people to know I have a girlfriend. Actually, I take that back. I haven’t wanted people to know. Probably out of fear that it fails and makes me looks bad publicly and privately. Also, I’ve never really had a girlfriend so commitment scares me, and there could be another very smart, kind, and pretty woman reading this.
O, WELL…
Basically my intention in writing this is that I want people to know that I am human. That probably does not come at a surprise to you though, because I doubt you thought I was an alien. Although I do wonder….
A lot of times people, ask me if I have problems and setbacks. Like, “Jake, you seem really happy ALL the time—do you get down? Do you F’ up? How are you so wise??!!”
Gosh—I do things I know I shouldn’t do, a lot. And I want you to know.
I seem to be a bit of a walking contradiction at times. When I uncover that within myself, my natural tendency is to hide it. “What would happen to my public image if people knew…”
So let’s just let the cat out of the bag. I am a really big proponent on time management—I write about it in my new book—I think it’s a key to success that I constantly share with others who ask.
But I just don’t usually tell them that sometimes I find myself on sites with blogs titled, “The Ten Best Butts In The World.” Then I wonder if they really are the ten best butts, because the first time I stumbled on the article, I didn’t totally agree. (Politics in everything I guess…)
That’s my little secret—I get lost in the rabbit hole of mindless web searching sometimes. Or, it was my little secret. Now it’s out in the open. And I feel better about it. I feel better about myself.
I think we cause ourselves SO much UNNESSARY angst. We don’t need to hide! I tell myself, if you want more adventure in life, you don’t need to go to the jungle in Thailand. Screw that! It could be cool, I know, but you don’t NEED to go there for adventure. Just quit hiding!
It’s like… why do we like adventure?
Well… “it feels good.”
What feels good?
Well… the heart beats quicker and you maybe sweat a bit, and I don’t know, you just FEEL more alive.
It’s a new experience.
Something different.
And it’s a chance to learn something new and get outside the mundaneness of everything.
That’s an adventurous life! Right…? Right!
Does cheating fit into adventure? NOT in relationships, but in time!
Probably…
I mean, I am a fan of ways to make things happen quicker and faster. (Cheating at life). Because this is the 21st century bro! Life-hack galore! Meaning that anyway I can shortcut something without compromising quality, I am pretty much in.
Gimme-gimme-gimme more speed!!!!
So adventure? An adventurous life! You want something new? You want to make your heartbeat? You want to feel a bit of fear and do it anyways? You want to break a sweat in an unusual way? You want to get out of the boring mundaneness of everyday idle conversations?
DO YOU WANT ADVENTURE WITHOUT THE TWO-THOUSAND DOLLAR PLANE TICKET TO THE JUNGLE IN THAILAND, OR THE HUNDRED-THOUSAND DOLLAR SPACE TRIP WITH RICHARD BRANSON?
Start by stop hiding. Stop keeping all these secrets that you think help you by staying hidden. It’s hurting you. It’s weighing you down. You don’t think it is, but trust me, it is
That is adventure. Putting YOU out there. Being vulnerable. Being seen. Letting YOU be seen. Embracing your faults AND struggles AND contradictions. All of it. Not hiding it because it could make you look bad.
You will be scared as crap to do it. You will not want to do it. Your heart will start beating. You will think you will hurt someone if you do it. You will think you will ruin your life.
You won’t ruin your life though—life will go on. I promise.
Adventure and freedom are there for us when we can embrace the edge. Will you crowd up space forever, or live on the edge?
-JAKE

Becoming Who I Want to Be In Six Weeks
The picture of me in the mirror is approximately six weeks ago. The picture on the left with jeans is from the other day. While I don’t believe looks are the indicator of health and beauty, I’ve found that progress is definitely the birthplace of fulfillment.
What do I mean..?
When moving forward each day toward a heartfelt goal or dream, there is consistent progress toward it, even when you can’t see it. And eventually, with that consistency, that progress, however small, can be seen. It doesn’t matter how small the progress is, just that it exists. When you see progress, you see your actions have been worth it, you see how capable you are, how much potential you have.
That’s what I feel now- because about seven weeks ago I wasn’t too happy with my body. I wasn’t where I wanted to be. I was nowhere near the shape I was in just a few years ago.
AND my work as an author and speaker is about inspiring others “to be whoever they want to be and create themselves.” Yet when I looked in the mirror, I’d actually failed to create the self I wanted, physically, at least. There were at least three times within the last year I’ve told myself that I would get into the “best shape of my life.” Each time I’ve quit when it got hard and quit exercising. Once after a few days, then a few weeks, then about a month or two into training I quit.
“But I am busy…” I would say.
“I don’t have time to keep this up…”
Only was I to realize that what I didn’t have time for was to keep telling myself I didn’t have enough time. Come on, we all know it deep down, there’s always enough time if we have enough willpower. You have enough time for that thing you keep saying you don’t have the energy for.
I wondered… how could I tell people they can be who they wanted, if I couldn’t even do start to do it in more areas of my life, especially physically?
That’s why I decided to do a little experiment and see what kind of shape I could get myself into. In just about 39 days, those are my results. No, not just the pictures. I mean just look at the way I am standing, the difference in the energy I am projecting. To me, I gained confidence and self-esteem. To me, I gained an understanding that I have a lot more potential to make something happen than I ever thought!!
But those results, that process, also produced these 5 things I learned…
1.) Sometimes being strong means doing what you don’t want to do. It’s easy to do believe ourselves to be strong and to keep building onto what’s been easy. But the true test of character is when you don’t want to do something you really ‘ought to. When you don’t want to spend an hour a night studying about your passions. When you don’t want to get out of bed and exercise 5-7 days a week, when you’re so busy you don’t think you have time for YOU, or when you would rather eat food you know you shouldn’t, and scroll the internet all day. When you don’t really want to work on your dreams because they are taking a long time. When you want to quit and blame it on the economy or your age or lack of education or experience. THOSE TIMES are when life is figuring out how strong you are… So how strong are you?
2.) Creating your reality doesn’t just mean working really hard to make your dream job a reality. It means having the discipline and wherewithal to put equal focus and attention into all areas of your life, not just your job. Be determined to create excellence in each area of your life! This includes your diet, your exercise, your relationships, your hygiene, your recreational time, your self-care, and your spiritual practices (if you have some). I have been, for the last 2 years, the person that spend 8-10 hours a day working, and zero time exercising, or testing myself because I always introverted myself… Creating your reality means creating your reality- reality means all areas of your life. So what have you been neglecting?
3.) The importance of a goal is who you become in the process- not the thing you get. I realize that my goal to get into the best shape of my life WAS NOT to get good pictures. Yes, that is fun. I admit it! It feels so good to see my confidence rise in my image. But what is so much cooler is all I’ve learned about myself through digging deep, and doing things when I don’t want to. What I got is how much more energy I have in my day to day life. How much more energy and focus I have for work, how much more energy and focus I have to concentrate on all the beautiful things that are happening each moment! Every time you set a goal, you find out how strong you are- you find out what format forces are available within you!
4.) Progress = Fulfillment. Fulfillment comes from progress. Fulfillment does not come from a final destination of a 6-pack or a million dollars or a better looking butt or a nicer house. Those are nice. But it’s the progress that counts, I believe! For instance, I’ve been waking up every morning with excitement to put my feet on the ground and see how much stronger and how much more energy I have than the day before. I look forward to seeing how my previous day’s workout affected me!
5.) Results are a result of consistency. Let’s face it: we live in a world of instant gratification. Because of this, a lot of us are kind of wussies. We don’t like to work hard and we don’t like to commit to something long term. A lot of us like quick sugary or fatty fixes from 7-11, or internet porn. We’ve conditioned ourselves to not work hard. But what I’ve learned and what’s been proven to me time and time again is that sustained results don’t usually come from a single effort. Success isn’t an overnight gig, it’s an up all night gig. Meaning that the results you seek in any area of your life are usually only going to come when you consistently put effort into them!
…BUT HOW DO I DO ALL OF THAT?
Yeah I know what to do but I can’t seem to do it. How do I just do it?
Maybe Mark Twain had said it best, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.”
For me my goal was to get “Into the best shape of my life.”
I hadn’t exercised in a while and had to get started.
I went on a run.
I started to break it down further into exercises. Gym/weight days. Running days. Etc..
(Break down whatever you want into the things you ‘ought to do to reach the goal).
Then, instead of trying to do a million push ups in one day to get the results, I was consistent in exercising myself in different ways as often as possible.
I got started where I could and stayed with it, each workout after each work out.
All you gotta’ do is just break it down. Take your goals. Your objectives. Your, “wish I would’ves,” and turn them into actionable plans. Then get started and live strong!
Closing Words…
While I sit here, typing this, I think that goals are so important because they are an opportunity to build self-esteem and self-confidence. They are an opportunity to express love to yourself by achieving your most heartfelt dreams- you are living the possibility of who you are by testing your limits. And so what are your limits? Where do you end? Can you keep going? Who do you want to become? Will you help yourself ‘get there’?
