Esther

artsy-addy:

"The world is not a wish-granting factory."
—John Green

"Whenever I saw shooting stars,
I did not wish for fantasies.
There are no fairies
or godmothers
that can grant even the fathomable.
One day, my friends told me that scientists are claiming
that when the galaxies first exploded on themselves,
fragments of star stuff drifted into our DNA.
There is so much shine inside of us.
It is no wonder
why the people that we love
are miracles.”

— “Esther” by ADDY NOVY

Hi guys, so we’re planning to sell cupcakes in aid of a charity called ‘This Star Won’t Go Out’, who donate money to families with children who have cancer and are struggling financially. This will all lead up to their national holiday ‘Esther Day’ on August 3rd, in favor of Esther Earl who the charity was set up in memory for. Cupcakes will be £1 each and all proceeds will be donated to the charity.

For More information about the charity : http://tswgo.org/

If you’re in the Newport, Wales, UK area, and are interested, message me at my facebook page here

Thank you and don’t forget to be awesome

Hey, did you know that FOX is doing a story on Esther tonight (it's the Boston Fox)

Yes, Lori and Wayne were interviewed by Boston Fox earlier today and their segment will be on tonight at 11pm EST!

Edit: I’ve been told it’s actually Channel 5 on ABC, was that what you meant anon?

Help us kick off the Esther Day Project by handhearting it up at TFiOS screenings everywhere!

Chances are you remember a Harry Potter movie premiere or eight. You got there early, made friends, took pictures in your awesome robes and costumes. The magic began hours before the theater lights dimmed.

Now, we’re days away from another night just like that. Whether you’ve been a nerdfighter for years or days, the TFiOS movie is something you’ve waited for with all the “jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself” excitement John’s talked about and then some. We know because we’re right there with you.

So here’s what we’re proposing: let’s make the night about community. Let’s channel that energy into something actively positive.

While you’re waiting for the TFiOS movie, take a photo making the shape of a heart with your hands and tag it #EstherDay wherever you upload it. Grab some friends - old and just-met-them-in-line alike - and have them join in. If you’re up for it, tell others why you’re doing it. We don’t have wands to pose with this time around, so let’s make our own magic.

Find out more about the Esther Day Project here.

songs about friendship, community, gratitude and love

the hpa launched an esther day campaign today and i’ve been thinking about esther day a lot because of that and because of leakycon so i did a thing. because i can’t think about things without making a playlist about them. apparently. a bigger, messier, constantly evolving version of this is on spotify.

I may or may not be currently jamming to this…

Esther Day is not about...

effyeahnerdfighters:

thehpalliance:

Esther Day is not about metaphors. It is not about gestures. Instead of mass produced greeting cards and baked goods, it calls for an uncommon honesty and bravery.

Esther Day became our favorite holiday in 2010, when John Green uploaded the first annual Esther Day video. Since then, we’ve celebrated on August 3rd with Nerdfighteria and looked forward to it in between.

This year, we’re going all out and hope you’ll do the same.

Today, we are officially launching a new campaign called the Esther Day Project.

Esther Day, at Esther Earl’s request, consists of one important action and a whole lot of heart. We are all challenged to say “I love you” to those they have trouble saying it to.

It sounds simple enough. In truth, it often comes as a challenge – being honest and unapologetic about love almost feels counterintuitive. We flee vulnerability.

This campaign - like Esther Day - is about changing that.

This is what it comes down to: love is awesome. Love is important. Love is what saved the wizarding world and, long before that, its residents. Fandoms become communities when we celebrate loving not just a book or a movie, but each other.

In only a couple of days, The Fault in Our Stars will make its box office debut. Since TFiOS was dedicated to and - in part - inspired by Esther, we can’t think of a better way to kick things off. While you wait for the movie, take a selfie or a picture with your friends - old and just-met-them-in-line alike - making the shape of a heart with your hands and tag them #EstherDay wherever you upload them.

Here are some examples:

You can read more about the campaign here.

From social media (#EstherDay) to IRL, please join us in celebrating love and celebrating each other on August 3rd.

We will be reblogging #EstherDay stuff throughout the coming weeks :)
