Midsummers Eve is arriving!

They say write what you know...
I write fantasy and I KNOW fantasy because I studied, learned, live and love it. It is not that I haven't ever grown up...it is that I have never lost that connection to what we had as a child, before ADULT LIFE intervened.
Since Midsummers Eve is approaching, I thought I might tell you about one of my circle celebrations about 6 years ago. It was my turn to do the ceremony and I decided to write a "journey" and take everyone in our coven to meet each elemental of the 4 directions. The Sylph in the East, the Salamander in the South, the Undine in the West, and the Gnome in the North. For those of you who don't already know; Midsummers Eve is when the veil between the worlds of man and fae are the thinnest.
I had a perfect spot to hold the celebration...it was a hidden valley in the center of my land. Ancient, towering pines stood watch in a perfect circle around my "circle". I collected antique jars and put a tea light in each one and hung them in the surrounding trees to light the way for the fae folk I wished to invite.
Everyone arrived and we proceeded to the sacred spot and did our usual circle casting etc. Everyone had settled in and I lead them in the journey to reconnect with the fae or faerie folk. The journey was going well in the still of the night, lit only by my many lanterns twinkling sweetly. But suddenly something changed, it was the air around us. It became alive and electric and produced a very intimidating humming sound or what we all described later as a buzzing or flapping of many, many tiny wings! WE ALL heard it! Now mind you, the circle was full of seasoned witches, unafraid with a tough ass mind set...so we thought.
As the buzzing noise got closer and became louder I could feel the energy of the circle change to panic! Some tough witches we were! lol! Since I was the priestess of the night it was up to me to change the energy and I quickly reminded everyone that we were in a protected circle and nothing could get in. With that, the noise subsided, WITH a few sighs of relief I might add.
Was it the fae folk that had come according to our bidding? I say "Just Believe". And remember, when dealing with the other dimensions, please take the necessary precautions and KNOW what you are doing.
