Homespun Poems: Explainations
Homespun Poems- These poems are of the area where I live. They are of people, places, things, incidences, etc.
People- This section begins with two poems about my grandparents. First about them teaching me card games the second is about reminiscing of them.
Second set of poetry of this section is of a vocalist in the area. Two poems: first of her being my second favorite vocalist and a concert I experienced where she sang with 3 other female vocalists in the area. The second started out me writing about audiences this part of history of jazz will applaud during the performance while the musicians jam. During this time another musician has started their solo and they are missing the first few notes [8-12 seconds]. When I listen to the early jazz [40s, 50s and early 60s] the audience wait until the end to applaud. So I took a genre like opera and explain why anyone can’t disrespect them in the middle of the performance. I decide to find a reason for me to leave a performance. Until I realize she is a classical/operatic vocalist, which means I would be disrespecting her. I did not to do that in case I would not get to experience her performance again. I would probably would be kicked out because upset with the poem. It eventually ended up a humorous poem instead of a serious poem.
Next are five poems of poets of the area. First is of William Bronk and how there was not a big deal of the area where I did not know of his existence. Second is a respond to another poet in the area. Third is of a poet using fin to finish her poems. And a play on words of 1930s slang of $5. Last is of a poet and her poetry.
Next set of poetry is two poems of the best couple in business in the area that owns a wine store.
Another set of two poems of a hostess that hosted an open mic in the area. First of her hosting and leaving to go to Albany, N.Y. And a poem of her return to a jazz club to perform there.
Last is a poem of the best business owner in the area and how she makes living more enjoyable.
Places- First two poems are about the longest running coffee house in the country, Caffe Lena of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. First is of its open mic, the second is the place in general and the atmosphere.
The next seven poems is of a jazz club in Glens Falls, N.Y. First two is Friday nights and the house band. Next is a poem of me attempting to get an idea for a poem. Next two is of me deciding let go and just heed the music and to relax my brain from writing anything. Last two is of incident there. Both are different interpretations of it.
Next three is of the Adirondacks itself. First is of bicycling through it. Second is of the Adirondacks and its beauty. Third is something that also appeared in one of the books in the color series.
Next is another pub/bar that also has live jazz.
Next is of one for the Farmer’s markets in the area.
Next is of my childhood home that burned down couple years back. I wasn’t near there when it caught on fire, in case you were wondering what happened to it. This is what the poem about, questions of it.
Next is of the 18th & 19th century cemeteries.
Next four is of childhood. First two of a book/journal that my mother kept with some things of my childhood. The third is of my first bike ride. Some of it may not be true but some are. Last of my childhood is of little league and what happens when you are left in left field.
Music- First six poems is a poem came from listening to local musicians, all the music are originals. First four is of a classical piece that has four parts, hence four poems. Fifth another classical and both are pianists. This one reminded me of someone running. Last is of an acoustic guitarist.
Next two is of an incident of me listening to a band live. Both poems two different ideas that came from it.
Last is of open mics in the area.
Tea- Three poems about teas around the area. First two are of a tea place in Glens Falls. Last is of a tea in Albany, N.Y. All three I use names of teas for the titles.
The Rest- The first is a road trip, raven, cemetery, also appears in ‘Death on a Bicycle’
Next is what usually happens on buses around here. Couple more bicycling poems and couple other poems.

Color Series Poems: Defining Each Poem
Fictional Colors- 'Darker' 'Black III' 'Squant' 'A Colour That is Out There' 'Infa-Red II' are all in the 'Tints, Tones and Hues Volume I' they are fictional colors manly from novels and graphic novels. They are colors named fulgin, squant and unknown from other universes and/or colors only seen by gnomes and other characters. In 'Tints, Tones and Hues Volume II' 'Ultra-Violet' 'Octarian' 'Blue II' 'Grue and Bleen' 'Optic White' there are the other five fictional colors. Two of the poems consist of two colors, both of which switches from to another, another observed by only cats and wizards. One is named hooloovoo and one is origins unknown. In volume III there is a poem 'Color Not Yet Been Named' in which a color that can not be identified. So later in the anthology there is a poem I had created a name for it, because I could not find a color that begins with the letter Z. Also I had created a word that rhymes with the color Orange that the definition is a word hard to rhyme.
Crayons- Three poems with color crayons. One is the basic crayon colors, and two poems of special crayon series. In all three are in the 'Tints, Tones and Hues Volume II'.
Actual Color Names- The colors are black, arsenic, red, blue, emerald, green, malachite, butterscotch, gold, tomato, gray, papaya whip, tomato, cream, fuchsia, seashell, yellow, tan, harlequin, silver, white in volume I. Ruby, olive, purple, carnation, copper, bronze, azure, brown, blonde, champagne, pink, lavender, magenta, sepia in volume II. Turquoise, atomic tangarine, asparagus, brick, walnut, maple, magic mint, vegas gold, chestnut, gamboge, cosmic latte in volume III. Some of the poems are about the colors yet some even though about other things they are associated with, like drinks, fruit/vegetables, metals, etc.
Changes- Some are about colors that are changing like, 'Decieving Colors' 'Love's Discolorment' 'Change of Colors' 'Psychedelic' 'Infa-Red' ' in volume I and 'Negative' 'Decolorize' in volume II and 'A Possible Tea Experience' 'Colors of Autumn' 'Alters a Color' 'Tisane'
Baby Names- In volume III certain colors I could not have a feeling of what I could create with, but they sounded pretty good for names for babies. So I wrote five poems to encourage some new parents with some unique names to call their newborn for creativeness.
Colors/Moods- I have a few poems about what colors are on moods. As if they are either, happy, sad or any other kinds of moods, not necessarily naming the actual colors. 'Love's Discolorment' 'Story of My Life' 'The Yard' 'Colors of Life' 'Colors of Destruction' 'Cream' 'Rust'
Abstract Art- I also have poems about my abstract photographs and other artists' artworks. Some of it mentions colors, the mixing, the blending and how it creates a certain feel or look to the art. These poems also appears in the book "Expressing Art Through Poetry'. Volume II includes 'Intermediate Ideation' 'Decompose' 'The Coming of Togetherness' 'Effusive Fulmination' 'When the Trumpet Blares' volume III includes 'A Sunshine of Vividness Caressing the Visionless' none in volume I.
MIXED of other things - other poems include a poem I just added a color to add to the series a color poem was not meant to end up here, a few poems with the phrase black and white, poems with several colors, a flipside to a kids saying[sticks and stones], poems about different meaning colors can be given an effect on something, a poet with red-hair, crossword and jumbled poems that a color appears in it, and other hidden treats.
