ODIUM VIII teaser & pre-order

Odium VIII sneak peak:
As we headed into the changing rooms, with Mikey taking the lead, the smell of death hit us both in the face so hard my head snapped back, and I had to force myself to breathe through my mouth, my eyes watering.
The changing room opened up into a larger room with hanging pegs above benches all around the outside. Along one wall were twenty or more lockers and along the opposite wall was the showers. The doors to them were frosted, but it didn’t take a genius to work out what was inside. Rotting flesh pressed itself against the glass, hands banging and fumbling against the door to get out. As if it could smell us already, it let out a miserable, long groan of hunger. I almost felt sorry for it as it began to bang and growl louder, its desperateness driving it onwards.
“It’s going to break the door down,” I said.
“Let it, we won’t get charged for the damage,” Mikey snarked back.
The thing inside pressed its rubbery flesh against the glass again, leaving trails of black blood and goo in its wake.
“Jesus,” Mikey said.
It slammed itself against the glass over and over, its hands beating against the glass as it snarled and snapped its jaws, the glass door cracked and then suddenly shattered, raining down at the abominations feet like confetti.
I gasped and took another step back as it charged towards us.
It was a horrendous and terrifying sight.
Huge, naked and very very undead.
It’s muscles, unlike most deaders hadn’t seemed to have decayed enough to slow it down yet, so it barrelled towards us, bulging muscles, red rimmed eyes, jaw open wide and drooling. I tried to not look at its naked body, but it was almost impossible not to.
I really hoped that my previous worries about them being stronger because they went to a gym were wrong, because the 7 foot, shaven headed deader in front of me was utterly terrifying.

Odium 8 update
Morning you guys,
Its been a hot minute since I've written here. I've been deep in the writing hole of Odium 8, and that world. I am on to the final hump of that book now and super excited to get this book out to you. Plot 9 is actually already almost completely written too, so I'll likely jump straight into that after the release of book 8 with the intention of getting Odium 9 out to you this year too.
I am also (You lucky lot!) halfway done with Odium Origins 3.5!! Whaaaat! So lots of Odium action coming to you this year.
My amazing cover designer is also currently working on the cover for O8 and I am so excited to see how it works out. I think this might be one of my favourites.
Eli Constant and I are working hard on Red Eye Season 4, and are going to surprise drop this one for you, so make sure that you're all caught up! We've also started on outlines for a new Red Eye type series which I am breathtakingly excited for, and you should be too.
So yes, lots of zombie action this year. Lot's and lots!
In my personal life, it is ALL go in our house with GCSE's and A-Level exams, so we are knee-deep in revision classes and practice papers and two of my girls getting ready for the next stage in their lives. As a mum, I'm both excited and sad that this part of life is here. It feels like an end of one part and a step into the next. It's sad to see those baby years well and truly gone, but it is so exciting to forge into the next part with them.
I hope that you're week has been good and you've had lots of positive things happen. Bank holiday weekend here in the UK - though the weather is looking awful - but I'm still excited to have the break! Hope you have a great weekend too!

Behind the scenes...
The author life is not a glamorous one, guys!
I've been busy behind the scenes creating graphics, searching for the PERFECT image for Odium VIII, doing boring tax stuff and just generally doing the housekeeping side of Claire C. Riley. I hate this side of things, but it does feel good when I'm back on top of it again and it's just a quick weekly maintenance.
So what am I writing?
Odium VIII is well under way and I'm loving the plot. The character development on this book has sent me through the ringer a little... it's been an emotional and frustrating journey for all. Not least of all Nina and Mikey. *wipes sweat from brow* but I think we're all through to the other side and are back in zombie ass-kicking territory! Hurray!
I'm also about 25k in on a new thriller that has me all kinds of excited. This is one messed up heroine... if you can actually call her that.
Eli Constant and I are also on our way with Red Eye season 4. I know, I know, it's been a long time coming, guys. Covid screwed us but we're getting back on the saddle with it. I am SO excited to be back in this world with her. Eli is literally the absolute best writing partner. Our words just flow so well together and I am always so excited to see what she's written. I think you're going to love this final season *insert anxious face*
Okay, I need more coffee and my eldest kid is currently making me chocolate chip and banana muffins so I think it's time for a snack break too.

Red Eye: Season One, Episode One

The end is nigh!
We've nearly made it through 2022... and what a year it has been!
Book wise, I've written less this year than I've ever done. It's been a long and stressful one with lots of house renovations and the day job taking over.
I'm almost halfway through Odium 8 and halfway through my new thriller and I hope to have both out by the end of April 2023. As for what's next after that... I'm not sure. Odium 8 is wrapping up nicely to be the final book in the series, but I don't know If I'm ready to say goodbye to the series yet, so I'm unsure what to do.
I have some co-authored works penned for next year, another spin-off in my Ride or Die series, alongside the next in the series, and some secret awesome news which I can't share just yet. Watch this space.
Which book are you the most eager to get your hands on next?
Reading wise, I've managed almost 40 books through Audible and paperback, which, although my goal was 50, I'm really pleased with.
How did your Goodreads challenge do?
My favourite books read this year have been:
The First to Die at the End - Adam Silvera
The Sound of Stars - Alechia Dow
Every Other Weekend - Abigail Johnson
Instructions for Dancing - Nicola Yoon
Like I said, 2022 was a difficult year. There was still a backlog of work from the lockdown times and I had to catch up on that. Not to mention that I've been having house renovations done for the past year which has been incredibly stressful. It's been amazing to see the transformations though, but I'm ready to sit back and enjoy my home for a few months now before I start my next house project hahaha

Red Eye The Armageddon Series Episode 1
Book wise, I've written less this year than I've ever done. It's been a long and stressful one with lots of house renovations and the day job taking over.

Too many books!
As I sit here with my Odium 8 manuscript open, and my secret thriller/suspense manuscript open behind that, I can't help but be frustrated with my own brain. Because it has chosen this exact moment to finally give me all the pieces of the puzzle for another thriller I've been mulling over for a few years.
As I've said before, most of my books, and certainly all of my thrillers, have come to me with a single image. This new one begging to be written was no different; an image of a little girl at the window waiting for her sister. I came up with a rough outline, but there were so many missing factors that I just couldn't write it yet. But they've just fallen into place. I'm both frustrated and excited! 2023 is going to be exciting, that's for sure!

As I've said before, most of my books, and certainly all of my thrillers, have come to me with a single image. This new one begging to be written was no different; an image of a little girl at the window waiting for her sister. I came up with a rough outline, but there were so many missing factors that I just couldn't write it yet. But they've just fallen into place. I'm both frustrated and excited! 2023 is going to be exciting, that's for sure!

“Yeah, yeah,” he replied, taking a swig of his beer. He sighed and put his bottle down. “Look at you all wise and shit.”
I smirked. “I know, right.”
“Must be because you’re getting old,” Dom smirked back and started to walk away.
“I’m not fuckin’ old, brother, I’m wise. There’s a difference!” I called after him.
He stopped in the doorway of the clubhouse and looked back at me. “Is that so?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, Jolie ain’t wise. Girl doesn’t know what’s good for her.”
I scowled at him, but Dom just shook his head. “Stay away from my sister, Gauge. She’s too young and too damn crazy for you.” And then he turned and left.
I shook my head and looked around the room. Most people weren’t paying any attention, but Crank sure as hell was. He laughed and turned back to Sketch.
“Fuckin’ women,” I groaned as I lit a cigarette and thought about Jolie’s soft skin under the palm of my hand.
Shooter sat down next to me. First time he’d been out of his office in hours. He grabbed the bottle of whisky, not waiting for Devlin to serve it in a glass, and he took a long drink of it. Her eyes widened and I gestured for her to fuck off for a while.
“Everything okay?” I asked.
“When is shit ever okay, Gauge?” he replied and slammed the bottle back down.
