L.D.B. Taylor (aka Lisa) is a lifelong reader and writer. Her award-winning fiction, memoir, and non-fiction have appeared in both print and online publications. She blogs (occasionally) at ldbtaylor.com and writes (daily) from Witt's End, her rambling, perpetually dusty home in the hills of Utah among the deer, wild turkey, coyotes, and occasional mountain lion along with her five children, six (it's a long story) dogs, four parakeets, a dozen or so chickens, and one husband. She appreciates wit, chocolate, hot tea, British accents, cool mountain evenings, kindness, travel, and books by the score.

Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness, and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened?
