3.0 out of 5 stars Over the top but not awful, August 13, 2015By Nickinic - Ebooks Galore "Authors please feel free to contact us regarding our blog."This review is from: Bachelor.com (Bachelors Three Series) (Kindle Edition)*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review*
This was a hard one for me. I enjoyed the story, but there were a few things that bothered me. So with the cons, then the pros
1. The title, really has no bearing on the story. You have a geeky friend who's in love with Kinley (this hot girl). He's in an accident, has plastic surgery and becomes hot. He owns a video game company. Where does the dotcom come in? I guess I just don't get the title.
2. There were some editing errors. Typical wrong word things, "At lot like you." instead of a lot like you.
3. The fact that every woman Jack came in contact with threw themself at him, was ridiculous. Yes I understand you're making a point that you're trying to show the difference between how he looked and how he looks now, but it was such an over exaggeration, that I just rolled my eyes.
4. It was hard to feel the romantic connection when they keep pushing each other away.

Ok, so here's some good..
1. I love best friend love stories. I'm sure we all had that friend we thought we were in love with. We felt those emotions of what if? What if they don't love us, what if it ruins our friendship.
2. Kinley trying to show Jack how to flirt or push away girls was silly. I giggled when she told everyone they were married. It worked.
3. If the writing had been a little more "realistic" or, not even realistic, but more believable and not over the top, then it would have rated higher. I would have enjoyed it much more.
4. The cover is cute, it's a nice change from the usual sexy man cover. I feel it gives a great idea of the story.

In all, it was an ok book. I enjoyed parts of it, but the other parts are what drug it down too much to rate it any higher. I think a little content editing would bring this right up in rating. Why no voting buttons? 4.0 out of 5 stars great old western, August 15, 2015By Nickinic - Ebooks Galore "Authors please feel free to contact us regarding our blog."This review is from: Dangerous Ties (Kindle Edition)*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review*
This was an interesting historical. I've never read one that was more action packed and suspenseful. I read a lot of historicals. The old western ones always get me! This story was an old western shoot em up. The story was packed with action, romance and sigh worthy happiness. The characters were likable. This was a quick, short read but it was so packed! The storyline was interesting and kept my attention. This is a great short read if you're into old western romances. Why no voting buttons? Outside

Outside(Rock Stars, Surf and Second Chances)by Michelle MankinGenre: Contemporary Romance

AmazoniTunesBarnesKobo
Rock Stars, Surf and Second ChancesWhen handsome California surf god Lincoln Savage suddenly rolls into Ocean Beach like a rogue wave, shy beauty Simone Bianchi’s foundation is shaken. No longer under the thumb of her domineering father, she’s made a simple quiet life for herself and her fluffy fourteen pound Havanese pup running a surf shop in her hometown of OB. Long ago she gave up her dreams for a future with Linc. But now the notorious lead singer of the Dirt Dogs has returned, and Simone is reluctant to admit that she’s still vulnerable to his killer dimpled smile and easy charm. She finds that although she’s stowed away the mementos, it hasn’t been as easy to erase the memories of their epic summer love.It seems he hasn’t forgotten, either. Is the recording contract he’s offering merely a pretense?Or does he have something more in mind?Does he really believe that they can just pick up where they left off, despite all the bad luck and heartache? And is she willing to risk everything again for one last chance at love?

**It is a contemporary romance. An affirming coming of age love story that spans 15 years in 3 parts taking the characters from mid thirties in the present to the past when they are twenty then back to the present again. It has sex scenes but it is not erotica.

4.0 out of 5 stars good romance, August 9, 2015By Nickinic - Ebooks Galore "Authors please feel free to contact us regarding our blog."This review is from: Outside (Rock Stars, Surf and Second Chances #1) (Kindle Edition)"The song washed up a summer's worth of heart crushing memories."
This book is just that. An emotional roller coaster that will have you up and down. I love reconnecting romances. I'm sure there are a lot of women out there who have that one person they wonder 'what if' about. This book brings that story to life. Simone is a woman with every day struggles. Making ends meet, trying to survive. Nice clothes or bills? Simone is hurting. You can feel her pain through the words the author puts to paper. Page by page the emotions just roll off the pages.
"Don't get me wrong, Linc. I wish you well, but I wish it for you well away from me."
Simone struggles with her feelings about Linc, about their past. I can't understand women like Mona who allow men to push them around. She allowed her father to continue controlling her even though she was a college aged woman. It was odd, the things she let him get away with. He was one of my least favorite characters, but in all helped push Linc and Simone together.

Linc was a man of great value, even at a young age. He has been through a lot but strived for better. He worked hard and though at times you can't help but be angry at him, he really was a complex character that pushed Simone to stand up for herself and become a woman.
It's nice to have songs that actually have feeling and meaning to them, instead of just words thrown together. I think songs and lyrics are one thing really lacking in rockstar romance books these days.

Part two of the book gives us an in depth look into the past, how Linc and Simone got to where they are. Linc has his own struggles and isn't the care free celebrity you think him for in the beginning.
The authors descriptive flow creates an amazing scene in your head. From the scent of ocean to the view and sounds of the environment, you'll feel as if you're in their world.

At times, I did feel the author was overly long winded. But in all, this was a wonderful book to lose yourself in. Surfers, rockstars and a wonderful romance. A great book. Why no voting buttons? Brody “Brutus” Jackson isn’t your average small-town mechanic. The shop where he spends his days doubles as the headquarters for the mercenary group he works with. They jokingly call themselves the Bang Shift because the government contracts they take are the less savory ones, and they’re all just shady enough to do what’s necessary to get the jobs done. As far as Brody’s concerned, it’s the perfect arrangement for a man with no memory of his past, and no hope for the future.
Under FBI protection, Alexandria Collins and her son have been in hiding for ten years. When it’s time to move again, her piece of crap car breaks down and the man giving her a tow is the biggest, hottest guy she’s ever seen. She is determined to ignore the need her long-neglected body hungers for. After all, the last man she showed interest in put a gun to her head.

Brody thinks the skittish Xan is sexy as hell, but it’s not her hot body that has him rocked to his core. He knows her from somewhere, and in his line of work, that’s a dangerous thing. Following orders have never been this hard, but he will protect her at all costs … even if what she needs protection from is him.

Mandy Harbin is an award-winning, bestselling author of several books across multiple romance genres ranging from contemporary to paranormal erotic romance. She is also the number one bestselling author in teen romance under the pen name M.W. Muse with her popular Goddess Series. She is a Superstar Award recipient, Reader’s Crown and RWA Passionate Plume finalist, and has received Night Owl Reviews Top Pick distinction many times. She studied writing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, earned several degrees, and even pursued an MBA until she realized becoming an author did not have to remain an unfulfilled dream. Vina, can you tell me about a day in your life as a writer?

I set a goal for myself before I begin to work on a project. I research everything thing pertaining to the manuscript at least 60 days in advance to compile all of my pertinent information so when I sit down to write, I can stick to a strict writing schedule. You have to be extremely disciplined to take on the task and conquer it!My day as an author really begins at night. As I sit at my computer with fingers flying on my keyboard cranking out chapters, I enjoy sips of any great red wine between chapters. Additionally, I don’t take any breaks if possible, unless needed. I stay focused and forge ahead. My writing maximum during the week is roughly 4-4.5 hours nightly. I typically work on average four or five nights a week on a project over the course of several months to make sure that I am staying on track which keeps me on schedule.

Cold Water Bridegroom

Cold Water Bridegroomby B. BrumleyGenre: Paranormal Romance

Amazon
Having grown up in San Francisco, Calder Brumen is drawn to the ocean, and he's spent his life trying to capture the beauty of the Pacific on canvas. Over time, he has become obsessed with painting the image of a dark haired mermaid named Gaire, and Calder struggles to explain his devotion to these portraits to his best friend. When Calder finds sandy footprints leading to the edge of his bed, he suspects that the haunting siren is real.

Pursuing the truth, Calder is dragged into a murderous, underwater plot that could destroy them all. And he must choose – is the possibility of a lifetime with Gaire worth risking death for himself and everyone he loves?

What got you started in writing? What does it mean to you?

Like so many, I started writing when I was a kid. I wrote a simple poem when I was six or eight. It rhymed. It was boring, but it was everything I wanted to express to my mom at that moment. I think that time was the first time I remember reading pretty words and badly wanting to write pretty words to organize my insides. In my teens, I wrote several short stories, a novella, and started about fifteen novels. I read constantly.
During my teen years, I would spend weeks in the mountains with my grandmother. She always asked about my stories, asked if I finished them, promised that I would publish someday. And then I got married, had babies… Life happened. She passed away before I could.
I’m in my thirties now. I joined an in-person writing/critique group – The Cisco Writers Club. Late last year, the online group I belong to – The Blazing Indie Collective – banded together to form the Falling in Deep Collection. Cold Water Bridegroom is part of the Falling in Deep Collection, but both of these groups keep writing on my mind… the business side, the creative side, editing, re-writes, all of it.
Last weekend, I returned from The DFW Writers Conference. During the conference, I met Steven James, Charlaine Harris, Kevin J. Anderson, and an amazing soldier named Shilo Harris. I listened to published authors, editors, and agents. But, mostly, I learned all over again just how much I’m in love with the industry.
A Monday ago, Ilana Masad, of The Other Stories, interviewed me. It was my first interview as an author. We talked about writing, and I was apologetic for my inexperience. I’m grateful that she welcomes all new writers, but I wonder sometimes if I’m just an imposter, dressed up in a witty writing t-shirt.
It’s a clichéd saying, but time will tell. Success may or may not be mine, but I love writing. I will always love writing. It’s a part of me. Someday, I might be great. Today, I’m just glad to have gotten to my debut. (:

This is a twisted take on mermaids, their world, deceit, lies and vengeance. The story is a little puzzling at times. It's all over the place. But once you realize what's going on, this is a wonderful story that will transport you to a whole new world. The tale is haunting and romantic with a big twist. When she’s invited to her brothers’ weddings, she refuses at first, then changes her mind and attends without telling anyone. She won’t let herself love them, but she can’t stay away. It’s a recipe for disappointment and heartbreak.

Especially when she throws herself at her brother’s best friend, Kane.

Kane Sander

Sexy, rich, loyal, protective. He shouldn't want her. But he will. He should stay away from her. But he won’t.

Love doesn’t follow anyone’s rules. Deny it. Run from it. Love always finds a way.

Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to Rhode Island. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene. She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm, riding her horses, or connecting with her readers online.
