How did your family and friends feel when they heard you were writing?

A few of my friends were really excited about it; especially after I let them read my first book in The Twisted Trilogy. My family was totally shocked. Even though they believed in me, they really couldn't imagine me self-publishing my stories. But guess what? I did it!!

Paranormal Teaser

Here’s a short excerpt about that paranormal twist I’ve been telling you about in Twist and Turn, book two of The Twisted Trilogy.  It’s a bit of a spoiler, but I think it’s worth it.  No?

“Yo TJ! Did you see that girl who was with me like two seconds ago?” Edwin slurred.

TJ narrowed his eyes like a stoned criminal.

“Tall, brunette, long legs, pig-tails, glasses. Did you see her?”

TJ patted him on his shoulder, a huge smile cracking onto his face. “Right Bro. I saw her alright. In my dreams.”

Edwin shook his head, confusion fogging his brain as TJ laughed at him. He hadn’t dreamt her up; had he? She was real. She had to be real. He could still feel her soft skin on his fingers; taste her purple lips on his tongue.

“What’s that on your face?” TJ asked, staring at him like he had something atrocious growing from his mouth.

Edwin wiped his mouth onto his hand and a streak of coloured gloss smeared across it. Edwin smiled and licked his bottom lip. He knew it. She was real.

This chapter, being shared from Edwin’s perspective with Abby out of the picture, is a fun twist that I am rather proud of. I know it’s unconventional, but I think it really works!!

I think this short bit also gives you a good hint of my writing flavour. I was going for New Adult sass. Have I met the mark?

Just A Kiss?

Edwin or Cameron?   Who do you think **** (‘he’) is? Read the short excerpt and play along.  Come on, it’ll be fun.  :)   But you’ll have to read Twist and Turn to find out for sure. ;) COMING SOON.

****’s haunting eyes never left mine as the office fell eerily silent, except for the random curse of staff trying to wrap up their work before the battery backup shut down.  The hydro didn’t flash back on; not even a flicker.  My eyes were wide, then tried to focus on the man before me.

**** drew closer to me yet, until his face was so close to mine I could feel his warm breath. I closed my eyes and gulped, not knowing what to expect next. He brushed his fingers under my chin and cautiously kissed my upper lip. His mouth made a soft smooching sound that jump started my heart.

That soft kiss was so electrically charged that I wondered if the entire office had felt it. I was overwhelmed with emotions: confusion, excitement and relief. My feelings toward him came rushing back like a tsunami, as his mouth touched mine again. The sparks flying between us could have serviced the whole office.

He was careful and controlled, yet I could taste his urgency; his tongue savouring every lick. Then his mouth covered mine, hot and urgent and sensational.

I hope you’ll play along.  :)   Name that character!!!

Five Fun Things About Me

So you may not know these five things about me, but Cassandra Janey and Papizilla seem to think you might care.  Let me tell you.

-

1.  I’m a romance writer who fell in love with her hubby at first sight (of his bulging biceps).  He seems to think there’s more to it than that.  We’ll just let him believe that.  Only teasing honey, you know I love you.  ;)

I scrap booked him cuz I'm adorable like that.

That’s my hubby.  I scrapbooked him cuz I’m adorable like that.

2.  My cat’s name is Dashington but we call him Dashy.  At least that’s what I thought until yesterday.  My daughter informed me his middle name is actually Flower. Funny, that’s the middle name she gave our last cat too.  My hubs then informed me that his middle name can’t be Flower because it’s Dashington and his first name is Prince.  He’s saying we call our cat by his middle name??!!

I agree we named him after Prince Dashington the Zhu Zhu pet but never did I think his name was actually Prince.  Whatever.

3.  I’m a workaholic. Yep, that’s me.  I’m a full-time mom of two beautiful girls.  I work a 9 to 5 job, I chauffeur my kids around day and night and am a servant to my hubby (not in the submissive sense u dirty minded…) I own three rental properties that I bought with my own hard-earned credit lol which I manage with my hubby in our “free time”. I read and write because it’s cheap entertainment and because I can do it in comfort of my own home.

4.  I’m not actually the selfish bitch I might lead people to believe. I am number 3 on my list of important persons though; my girls being my number one and my hubs pulling in at number 2.  It’s true their happiness and comfort in life rank above my own.

5.  My hubby likes fat bottomed girls.  Oh wait, this is supposed to be about me!!

I am a fat bottomed girl. ;)

–> not that fat!!

How you like me now?

A Twist and Turn Teaser

Chapter Four Teaser: (Edwin and Abigail)

I pressed my lips into a sour smile. “Eddie, the cab sounds like a good start. But I told you I don’t have a date. We can go there together, but that’s as far as it goes. After that, you’re a free man.”

A smile crept over his mouth, lighting up his miserable face. “I’m already a free man baby.”

I slapped him on the shoulder and for a minute I started to believe that everything was going to be okay.

“Seriously though, I won’t be doing anything more to hold you back,” he said. “That night we will go to the party together, but we’re going single. I’m saying you can do whatever or whoever you want, without feeling guilty. I’m done shooting daggers at every guy that hits on you.”

I smiled softly. “Whoever?” I tested, trying to be smart with him.

He stepped closer to me, hiking my heartbeat and the temperature in my cheeks. He raised his sharp eyebrows, a serious look painted on his face. “Don’t get me wrong. I still love you Abs,” he whispered in a low deep voice.

I closed my eyes to mask my feelings. “Don’t say that. You really can’t say that anymore,” I breathed. My eyes fell to the floor.

“Fine. Have it your way. I won’t say it, but you can’t stop me from feeling it,” he answered, as he exited the room, clearly annoyed with me.

I had to share this, just so you didn’t think that Edwin doesn’t care anymore. He does. So much. J

Meet My New Man!!

A few suit mean in the city

A few suit mean in the city (Photo credit: Tymtoi)

You asked for it and here it is: a glimpse at Abigail and Cameron’s first meeting in book two of The Twisted Trilogy.

Rough exerpt from Twist and Turn:

I blasted through the vestibule and clambered into the lobby, reality slamming me flat in the face when I noticed a client lingering by the empty reception desk.

The man was facing away from me and yet still managed to exude such confidence. With his short, dark blonde hair, and the way he stood with his hands casually tucked in the pockets of his expensive, shiny black suit, I knew I had to approach him.

I only hoped that when I set eyes on him, his face would be as intriguing as the rest of the package. “Hi. Can I help you with something?” I blurted.

He spun around to face me and attacked me with his gorgeous features. I could not believe my eyeballs. His eyebrows hung low over his squinted sunset-shaped eyes. If eyes could smile, then his were beaming at me. Excitement instantly flooded me with the instant realization that Taylor, the receptionist, was nowhere to be found.

When he caught my dazed stare, he wrinkled his sexy forehead, raising his eyebrows and giving me a better look into those glimmering crystal eyes. Oh my God! If possible, this man just got cuter.

I could have torn that face out of the nearest heartthrob magazine, just like I would like to tear that sexy suit off of him to see what he has hiding underneath it.

I fluttered my eyelashes, as he extended me his hand and I gently gripped it for a shake. When he smiled, our hands latched together and my knees grew weak. When he drew my hand to his lips, time stood still. He smoothly kissed the back of my hand and lowered it, my fingers lingering in his firm grasp.

Old fashioned. Ooh. I like that. “Can I help you?” I breathed. Oh shit! I just said that!

His gaze slipped up to my face and he struck me again with the most breathtaking blue eyes. When my lips parted, so I could gasp for air, his curled into a smile as glorious as his eyes.

“You already have. Cameron Clarke. Pleased to meet you.”

If you’ve made it this far reading, then I take it you were at least somewhat intrigued by their encounter. So did you like it? Tell me what you liked, what you didn’t, tell me how the weather is I don’t care. Just talk to me. ;)

There’s A New Sheriff In Town

CO - Denver Sheriff Badge

Woo hoo!! So I just finished edit number one of book two in The Twisted Trilogy. I’m really quite excited about it. Twist and Turn is well on its way to publication. And I love it!! I even managed to give it a happy-for-now ending. Oh, but just wait for book three!!

I almost want to keep on editing right into book three, A Twist of Fate, just so I can remember all of the crazy good scenes I had written. But I am determined to get one more round of editing out of the way for this book, so I can get it out to my beta readers.

For those of you who have read Twisted, you know it is largely about the relationship between Abigail and Edwin, entirely from Abigail’s perspective. In Twist and Turn I decided to mix it up. Oh, was that ever fun!!

In the Prologue, you see life from Tessa Clarke’s perspective. In another chapter you see it from Edwin’s perspective, and from another person, whom which will knock your socks off so I can’t tell you who. ;)

The rest of the story is again told by Abigail, in the first person, but it is now focused on her relationship with her new man, Cameron. I seriously can’t wait for you to meet him, to see what you think. Edwin certainly isn’t happy about him.  An excerpt of their meeting follows in my next post.

For those of you who didn’t ‘get’ my title. Cameron is the ‘New Sheriff’ in town. ;)
