Sometimes, even the best-laid plans can unravel. It's spring break, and Tamara Winters would rather stay on campus and read romance novels than flaunt her size-fourteen body on a beach. But her best friend, Ronni, has other ideas. Against her wishes, Tamara is whisked away to picturesque Maverick Bay, where she's wrangled into waiting tables with Ronni at the Shore Shack for its busy week leading to Maverick's Surf Invitational. There she meets fellow schoolmate Xavier Solomon, the Invitational's organizer and campus womanizer by reputation. From the moment Tamara sees him emerging from the waves like a hero in of one of her romance novels, all she wants to do is run away from the feelings he inspires in her. Little does she know Xavier has been watching her for weeks now. In fact, after failed attempts at asking her out on campus, he's concocted a crazy plan: fabricating romantic situations straight out of her favorite books. Xavier quickly realizes that if Tamara gets a whiff of his designs, he might as well spell CREEPER across his forehead. Yet as they grow closer, he's convinced it's a risk worth taking. What he hasn't planned on, of course, is his drug-addicted, alcoholic stepbrother, who decides to join the fun and put a wrench in Xavier’s scheme. Spring break is proving hotter than Tamara expected. Will her romance novels be able to compete?

photo KateEvangelista_zps52fa82f6.jpg About the Author When Kate Evangelista was told she had a knack for writing stories, she did the next best thing: entered medical school. After realizing she wasn't going to be the next Doogie Howser, M.D., Kate wandered into the Literature department of her university and never looked back. Today, she is in possession of a piece of paper that says to the world she owns a Literature degree. To make matters worse, she took Master's courses in creative writing. In the end, she realized to be a writer, none of what she had mattered. What really mattered? Writing. Plain and simple, honest to God, sitting in front of her computer, writing. Today, she has four completed Young Adult novels.

2 Week Review Only Blog Tour For: Laying Low in Paradise

Mrs. Potter’s Book Publicity Services PresentsA 2 Week Review Only Blog Tour For: Laying Low in Paradise
By: Kristy K. James Book Description
Laura Keane and her son have been spending summers at their chalet on Bois Blanc Island since her husband was killed in the war. She never let anyone else in after the chaplain delivered the sad news four years ago, so it’s just the two of them, and she wouldn’t change that for the world.

Cameron Rafferty and his friends were keeping secrets. Dangerous secrets, and they’d hoped the little island paradise would be a safe place to hide out. The plan to keep a low profile quickly unravels when an accident changes everything. Cameron soon finds himself becoming more involved with the Keane family than he’d intended -and wishing for things he shouldn’t.

Add LAYING LOW IN PARADISE to your GOODREADS TBR LIST

My Review:

I absolutely loved “Laying Low in Paradise”. I could relate so easily with the main character Laura. She was so driven, caring, and a great mom. From the book description I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. I am also a sucker for a good cover that just jumps out at me and yells “read me”—personally this book cover didn’t do much for me. The only thing I may suggest to the author to make this book more popular would be to maybe re-write the blurb, and get a new cover.
Truly, this was a great book and I hate to see it so unrecognized. Don’t be fooled by its cover or blurb because this book has some amazing writing that you don’t want to miss out on. The character development is inspiring to me as a writer. I feel like the author must have had crystal clear images mapped out of each character and stuck by them.

There are twists and turns in this book that you won’t see coming. There is romance, a laugh factor brought to you by two of my favorite characters, Sam who is Laura’s son, and Brendan who is the son of Laura’s love interest, Cameron. I do highly recommend this very well written book!

Author Bio:
All it took was the encouragement of a student teacher in a ninth grade writing class and Kristy K. James was off and running. She has been writing for more years than she’ll ever admit to, and loves every aspect of it. From creating characters who are so real that they sometimes take over the writing when they don’t like where she’s taking a story, to adding as many twists and mysteries to her plots as she can get away with.

She is the author of Reluctant Guardian, A Fine Mess, and The Stranger in my Head.

Kristy currently lives in Michigan with her family, too many pets and the occasional spider. She spends her time living in her make-believe worlds, cooking and baking up a storm, and doing her best to learn to say ‘no’ when stray animals wander into her large country yard.

Reading is one of her favorite pastimes, as is traveling around the state, especially to coastal beaches to enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and gulls screeching overhead.

Plastic Hearts Excerpt #1
I felt a finger under my chin, lifting my gaze back up to his eyes. “Hi,” he said. I couldn’t quite hear his voice, but I could read his amazing lips under the strobe lights. God, he was beautiful, the type of beautiful that renders me temporarily speechless. I wasn’t sure how long I stood there searching for something to say, but it was long enough for me to completely forget my own name.“I’m here with my boyfriend,” I finally blurted. It came out so quickly I wasn’t even sure he understood a word I said. Why did I always turn into a blabbering mess when I was nervous? Did I mention that when he smiled, two magnificent dimples appeared? Dammit.I watched him look around and then he smiled. “I don’t see a boyfriend. Sorry, you’re going to have to come up with something a little better than that. Try again.” Who did this guy think he was?I pressed my lips into a tight line. “No, I’m really here with my boyfriend. Right, Jade?” I turned around to pull her into the conversation, but she was gone. This was not going well. This mystery man had unnerved me by putting his hands on my body and flashing those incredible dimples and there was no one around to save me. I was stuck on the dance floor with a sexy stranger while my boyfriend and best friend were nowhere to be found. Ryan was probably sitting at the bar, slowly nursing his first beer, while Jade was doing God knows what with a guy whose name she would never know.I hesitantly turned back toward him until our eyes met again. He seemed amused as he continued to smile down at me. “So do you want to keep dancing? Or can I buy you a drink?” He shouted over the music.Purchase: Amazon

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:A story from the heart.Sometimes the longest lasting stories, the most meaningful stories, are the ones that come from the heart. In the fall of 2012, I’d finished up a project, and my heart cried out to tell the story that became Every Little Piece. I didn’t really know what was going to happen. And that scared me. I knew the major details but I left a lot of flexibility. So I sat down and started writing. I realized that a lot of it could get cut or completely rewritten. And, yes, some chapters I loved, I ended up cutting for the sake of the story. And some definitely got reshaped and revised. But for the most part, the storyline stayed the same. I didn’t realize it until later, but two events shaped the emotion and the theme behind Seth and Haley’s love story. The first is perception. Some hurtful things were going on in my family; things that I realized would never be resolved without complete forgiveness. One event happened and different people saw what happened in completely different ways, ones that I knew would not be reconciled. That completely floored me. How could that happen? That definitely found its way into Every Little Piece. The second is grief. A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and given 3-6 months to live. He passed away early in 2013 with an attendance of over 500 people crammed into a small church. And that wasn’t including the live video feed to the hundreds who couldn’t make it. My heart couldn’t accept this and was in denial all through the fall of 2012, while I was writing this story. It wasn’t until after his death that I saw the connection, between his life and passing and what I was writing, especially since Seth and Haley’s story has nothing to do with cancer or terminal illness. So between the lines of Every Little Piece are a lot of little pieces of Kate Ashton.---

AUTHOR BIO Kate Ashton is the author of the contemporary YA, Every Little Piece. She writes about relationships and love, heartache and healing. And everything in between.

Blog
A little Q&A with Author Michelle Packard  Q)  As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?A) I wanted to be a flight attendant – There was absolutely nothing more awesome!
Q)  What inspired you to write your first book?A) A down to earth conversation with my brother in law about families. I know there are a lot of families struggling and I just wanted to help any way I could
Q)  Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?A) Life- When the kids spill their drink at the dinner table three times in a row, when I’m out on a walk and an analogy about the killer hill I’m pushing my double stroller up pops in my mind, people watching, friends, family, a little research here and there.
Q)  What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating any of your books?A) How much I could write. When you are looking at an outline it’s hard to have a full grasp of the end product
Q) What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?A) I won’t let ANYONE read my first draft.
Q)  Is there a message in your novel/novels that you want readers to grasp?A) That true deep down happiness is really an option but it only comes when we show love to the ones we love the most…Red Punch Experiment!
Q) What books have most influenced your life most?A) Historical fiction and non-fiction. History has always been a love and it always provides me with compassion, entertainment, hope and a path to follow… or not follow, for the future. Some favorites are Good Night Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian, Wild Swans by Jung Chang, and The Rent Collector by Cameron Wright.
Q) If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in any of your books?A) More stories! They never get old.
Q)  Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?A) I read a poem in middle school that was so eloquent and beautiful, it made me want to create something just that wonderful. I have to admit though there was a time I never thought it would happen.
Q)  What was the hardest part of writing your books?A) The time it took away from my family was by far the toughest.
Q)  Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?A) Don’t spend your time feeling guilty about the past…you can’t change it. Instead focus your attention on the life and people before you. I know of no one who has a perfect life, only people who choose to enjoy the imperfect life they have.
Q)  What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing your characters to life?A) My book is a non-fiction and hence my characters are real people, who shared emotional and personal stories. It was sometimes difficult to write their stories in a way that kept it personal, did not expose them, or bring to surface buried pain, but still connected them with the reader.
Q)  Who is your favorite hero/heroine/character from your own books? What about of all time?A) My favorite heroine from my book is my mother. In the face of reality she knows happiness and how to have it.My favorite hero in other books is Mr. Tom from Good Night Mr. Tom.

COVER REVEAL: Working It Out

Working It Out
A chance encounter . . .
Grace Warren's life is safe and predictable—exactly the way she likes it. But when she gets roped into going to an auction to help out a friend, everything changes. She meets Seth Tuttle—a guy who unexpectedly kisses her then disappears, leaving her flustered and upset. If she never sees him again, it will be too soon.

A chance for love . . .
Weeks later, when Seth limps into Grace's rehab clinic post surgery, she immediately recognizes him. Unfortunately, he's every bit as frustrating and annoying as she remembered. Yet there's something about him that makes her second-guess her carefully placed boundaries even though he's everything she's sure she doesn't want in a man. But maybe Seth is exactly what Grace has needed all along—assuming she's willing to risk safe and predictable for a chance at love.

Author Rachael Renee Anderson

Rachael Anderson is the author of four books: Divinely Designed, Luck of the Draw, Minor Adjustments, and The Reluctant Bachelorette. She's the mother of four and is pretty good at breaking up fights, or at least sending guilty parties to their rooms. She can't sing, doesn't dance, and despises tragedies. But she recently figured out how yeast works and can now make homemade bread, which she is really good at eating.
