There Is So Much Going On
There is always so much going on in my life but this weekend is particularly exciting. First off, on Sunday, 6/21, the two-book companion set of FLASHDOGS : SOLSTICE is coming out.
FLASHDOGS is an amazing thing. We are a group of writers from all over the world who regularly share our super short stories via Internet flash fiction contests. The SOLSTICE books represent our second anthology, and I can truthfully say these are even better than the first one. I read and formatted them both. I w...

Seven Questions : June : Tamara Shoemaker
For this month’s installment of Seven Questions I’m hosting the lovely and talented Tamara Shoemaker. I met Tamara through my work with the flash fiction collective Flashdogs. I also recently edited her first epic fantasy book, Kindle the Flame, on sale now at the usual place.
Here’s a bit about Tamara in her own words:
Tamara Shoemaker lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with her husband, three children, a few jars of Nutella, and a never-empty carafe of coffee. She authored the Amaz...

June Goals
The month of May went by in a flurry of book-making.
My goals were:
1) New writing— I completed this one as usual. Tales of Blood & Light (Lethemia) Book Seven is shaping up to be a dark mystery plot.
2) Finish Cedna revision and sendCedna to beta-readers. I finished the revision and sent The Cedna to Beth. I polled beta-readers, but I will wait to actually send it out until next month.
3) Submit fully revised Flashdogs stories. Begin Flashdogs project– Check! Stories submitted and I’m now in...

Seven Questions: Margaret Locke
For the rest of the year I’m hoping to feature one author every month in a seven-question interview–yes, of course, because seven is the most magical number!
The talented Margaret Locke has agreed to be the first interviewee. Her debut novel, A Man of Character, is now available on Amazon. Get it here. I met Margaret on the Interwebs, specificallyvia the thriving flash fiction community over at Flash Friday, where a wide variety of writers gather each week to write super short stories and cau...

Lethemia Map
I’m so thrilled with this map of my fantasy world, Lethemia, that I actually couldn’t wait to share it until it was officially finished. My friend–and artist extraordinaire–Maya Jensen drew it for me and I’ve been adding the text this evening to decompress after work. The first book in the series is coming in June 2015.

Deep Breath
Last month Ifinished applying the edits from Beth on my latest revision of The Gantean, my fantasy novel of many faces. This poor little book–or not so little, since it was once 250,000 words–has been through so many revisions. BUT! BUT! I really think this last revision did the trick. I had some fantastic suggestions from beta-readers Beth Deitchman, Christine Kam-Lynch, Harrison Aye, and Tony Caruso. I’ve tightened plots and magic systems and done away with extraneous subplots and unneeded...

Mayday, Mayday
It’s May 1st and so it must be time for GOALS.
Last month I proposed to succeed at six goals. Here’s how I did:
1) New writing. Yes, though this one was a bit of a slog. I hit the slow part of my process on the draft of Lethemia Book 6, which always occurs around 35,000 words. But I persevered and managed to meet my word count goals.
2) Flashdog stories. CHECK! Ifinished the two I have decided to use and sent them to Beth for a first read.
3) Format and review Kindle the Flame. CHECK! You can...
