Loving Meira.

sararaasch - I often have panic attacks/major anxiety and today is one of those days (just over going to school tomorrow). So a while back I decided to put Snow Like Ashes on display in my room so that I can “channel” Meira whenever I need her, and recently I changed my laptop background to the book covers, so when I see them I think of Meira and even though she doesn’t have anxiety over going to school, she has fears but she is strong and faces them no matter what. (That was on giant run-on sentence, and I apologize for that cause ugh.) But anyway, Sara, if you see this, I don’t think I can ever thank you enough for Meira. She is my favorite heroine and she means so much to me. I really hope I can meet you someday and tell you this in person. That would be beyond awesome! Anyways, Meira is with me on this Sunday night as I prepare for battle tomorrow (really just school). :) Because of Meira, I am calm tonight and I know I will survive tomorrow. ♡
Aaaaand now I’m crying.
I have panic attacks/anxiety too (it was WAY worse when I was a teen and has blissfully mellowed out now that I’m 25, but it still rears its ugly head every once in awhile) so I know firsthand how lifesaving it can be to have someone (a character, a person, hell, even an ITEM) to hold onto as a symbol of survival. That Meira has become that for you leaves me totally speechless…because she was that for me when I was in high school. She was the warrior I needed when I felt I couldn’t fight.
I’m seriously sitting here, staring at my laptop screen through a haze of tears, wanting to reach through said laptop screen and hug you.
Meira is totally with you. And she’ll kick tomorrow’s ass for you.
"Someday we will be more than words in the dark."
Hey Sara Raasch! I'm a huge fan and I am writing a fanfiction about the briefly mentioned princess of Autumn. I've compiled all the information about Autumn mentioned in the books to make my fanfiction as much like the kingdom as you imagined, but I'm stil
Oooo SO EXCITED FOR THIS LIKE WHOA.
I ADORE the Autumn Kingdom. They’re probably my favorite Season Kingdom (don’t tell Winter/Summer/Spring). Unfortunately they don’t become “big players” in the trilogy until Book 3, but as far as their kingdom/culture goes, their entire land is a forest of gold, orange, and scarlet trees. Their cities are made of tents in heavy materials, mostly wool, that match the colors of the trees. They have dark brown skin and black hair, and I got a lot of inspiration for their culture from Thai/Middle Eastern traditions.
When they had a queen who could wield their conduit, they were known for using it to enhance their fighting abilities, and even now, without a queen, they still are some of the best warriors in the world. Living for so long without a direct magical influence has played a huge role in the lives/customs/behaviors of all their citizens, forcing them to appreciate “real” life and doing things on their own (healing, planting, fighting, etc) more than any other kingdom. They’re a very honor-driven society due to that appreciation.

(I can’t say the word “honor” and not think of Zuko.)
The princess of Autumn, Shazi bint Caspar Akbari, is almost two, and the very definition of precocious. You’ll get to see her interact with Meira in ICE LIKE FIRE, and it’s totes adorbs. Shazi is just so HAPPY and full of life and totally adored by everyone who meets her. I lurve her (and her whole kingdom) to pieces.
Clearly I could babble about the Autumn Kingdom for awhile, so I’ll leave it at that.
