What is your favorite part of Yakim?
Sara: Their advancement! Yakim has always been a bit ahead of the rest of Primoria in terms of development, which made it super fun as an author to get a chance to play around in a very different sort of country within the same world. They’re on the cusp of almost an industrial revolution, which makes theirs a steampunk-esque society—what’s not to love?
Kingdom Rep: There is a lot of things that I love about Yakim. I think this is because it is very unique and unlike any other Primorian kingdom! Like Sara said, they are ahead of the other kingdoms in development and technology which I always found really fascinating (and lets be real here- I would take a lift and air conditioning over the stairs and heat ANYDAY)
When the Join the Blizzard contest started and I had to decide which kingdom I wanted to fight for, I always knew I would pick Yakim. I remember reading Ice Like Fire and following along as the setting changed. We were introduced to Yakim, Queen Giselle, RARES, and all I could think the whole time was: everything sounds SO COOL. I was so overwhelmed- but in literally the best way possible. Being the nerd that I am, I probably would make a perfect Yakimian. I always wanted to learn more about Yakim and especially Giselle. I loved her quick and intelligent answers for everything and her ability to have a logical outlook on life. Also can we talk about their libraries?!? I would have the BEST time just roaming around and drooling over the ancient books! If you can’t tell I am definitely a sucker for the beloved knowledge kingdom :D
