Shock registered as his large, firm hand came down hard on her backside. “Jason! What the hell do you—” Another slap rang out in the otherwise quiet barn and she could hear Jason’s breathing getting heavy, faster as he panted out obscenities. Each word was enforced by another crack to her now warming ass.

Kathryn felt a blush of heat infuse her face, trailing down her neck to her chest, just as the high temperature spread out over her bruising bottom and down her thighs, sending a rush of moisture to her core. She felt mortified to be in this position. How dare he treat me like a child! Sputtering and attempting her best to wiggle away from his forceful punishment, Kathryn wasn’t sure if she were more disgusted by the fact she was being spanked, or her response to his manhandling and objectification.
Jason raged on, “You. Will. Take. Better. Care. Of. Yourself. Young. Lady.”
It was clear to her she’d crossed some line, though she truly didn’t understand what, and he didn’t seem to be slowing any as her buttocks now began a throbbing, searing burn. Tears sprung to her eyes against her will, and for the first time in forever Kathryn couldn’t contain them and had no choice but to let them fall. She stilled her movements, became docile and prone over his legs, no longer fighting the spanking as tears tracked down her face and dropped into the hay on the floor of the barn. The contrast of emotions running through her at this moment sucked away her very breath. Here she was, lying over the lap of her protector like an errant child, getting her ass tanned six ways from Sunday–honestly the first time she had ever been spanked in her life–and yet she was reacting to it as if he’d stroked her intimately.
Ever since she was young, Kiki Howell has loved to listen to a well-woven tale with real characters, inspired plots, and delightful resolutions. Kiki could spend hours lost in a book, and soon she knew that creating lives, loves, and losses with just words had to be the greatest thing that she could do. To that end, she pursued her study of literature and writing, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. She then followed in a Master’s program in Creative Writing.
“After a long break having my boys, I finally just had to write again. And, as soon as I gave the stories the space, they entered it. It’s both awesome and humbling to find the words in my mind become characters on a page and create their lives.”
She has now had over forty stories published between eleven different publishers. She could not be more thrilled or grateful to see her creations polished and out in the real world. Please look around. Although, a bit of caution, most of her stories tend to hang out on the graphically sexy side of town.
In May, 2011, Kiki was chosen as an Ohioana Book Festival author for her novel,Torn Asunder. She’s also had three flash fiction stories win writing contests. Since the fall of 2013, she’s had three novels – Hidden Salem, Salem’s Revenge, and What Lies Within Us – hit Amazon Top 100 Bestsellers Lists in several categories like Paranormal, Suspense, Ghosts, Gothic Fiction, and Occult Horror. Just recently, the second in her Salem Series, Salem’s Revenge, hit the Top 10 on Amazon in Witch & Wizard Thrillers.
In March 2015, Kiki coordinated and edited her first charity anthology, We Go On, with all proceeds going to veteran’s charities.
Kiki resides in the Midwest with her incredibly handsome and talented, singer/songwriter husband and two children. When she is not writing, she is spending time with her family, reading, watching tv or knitting.
Hello Kiki! Thank you for taking the time to join us for an interview about your story in the Alpha Fever Book Set!
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing since I was a kid and didn’t like how a TV show or book ended and re-wrote the ending in my head. Eventually, I started creating my own stories and putting them down on paper. As life would have it, there have been times in my life when I couldn’t write, but the desire has stayed.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Best aspects of writing are researching and writing that first draft. Worst aspects are all the other crap that evolves around that *giggles*
What inspires you to write?
So many things, from a story someone told me that I didn’t like the ending to, so in my head I fixed it to a vague idea od a type of character or situation that evolves into a plot.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs, written with Gina Kincade. Honestly, this story line was Gina’s idea, and I just rolled with it.
How did you conduct your research for Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs?
Online, taking virtual trips to ranches in California along with looking up a few things a wealthy woman would do there to pass the time.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs ?
Sorry, but I find questions like this a challenge. Picking a favorite anything from song to book to line is just impossible for me. So, that said, I’m putting all three (or a few more) lines together. This snippet gives a good love this look into our wealthy, spoiled heroine’s mindset in the beginning.
I’m not spoiled, just deserving. Daddy says so. I’m entitled to more than living like a prisoner in these low-class places with heathen–all muscles with no brains or class–guys watching my every move, loving looking down on me out of sheer jealousy. The words rumbled around in her brain so violently they were causing a headache.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I’m told that I’m a good listener.
Are reader reviews important to you?
To some extent. Always thrilled to hear that someone likes the book, and I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so bad reviews if honest don’t bother me, but those who have to be mean does bother me. You can say you don’t like a story without phrasing it that it made you want to throw you Kindle across the room.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I’m a wife and mom, so all that family and home stuff like grocery shopping and paying bills, etc, but right now I’m also in Yoga Teacher Training, so that is keeping me very busy and sore *winks*
Tell us about your other books?
Well, actually, Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs is a bit different for me, as I usually write paranormal characters. I’m in quite a few box sets rights now. I have a shifter story, Mystical Mayhem in the Alpha Shifters After Dark Box Set available now. Releasing in April, I have more magical novel, What Lies Within Us (also co-authored with Gina Kincade), in the Beyond the Veil Box Set. This book shows what an alpha will do to get his fated mate but these white wolf females won’t go down easy, not even for love.

He moved behind her, spreading her legs and he rested the head of his cock at her entrance. She wasn’t expecting, nor could she have prepared for, the way he drove into her. The slight pain, manageable because he’d already stretched her earlier, only added to the thrill. She moved back against him and he smacked her again.
When she’s not out hunting rogue vampires and werewolves, you can find Crystal Dawn out exploring the galaxy. She can do it all without ever leaving her computer. She kicks ass, takes names, and puts it all down for the enjoyment of her readers. At least that’s what I think she told me. Writing came as a natural outlet for her overly creative mind. The start of her stories is the easy part. Finishing them is a little harder when all the stories are in there trying to get out. She loves reading, chocolate, fine sweet wine, and traveling among a large list of pursuits. Her favorite people, after her family and close friends, are her readers who she says are some of the most wonderful people in this galaxy and the next.
Hello, thank you for inviting me for this interview. I’m Crystal Dawn and I write Paranormal and science fiction romance.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing in some capacity since I was a child. As far as books go, I published my first book in 2013. I had the second already written but it had to go through the publishing process.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Being able to express yourself and let the characters in your imagination out is very liberating. The sense of accomplishment when the story is complete is incredible. Getting emails from readers that tell you the story you wrote made their lives a little brighter, that’s amazing.
The worst aspects can be the promoting, which sometimes causes you to have to step away from a book at a crucial point. The story flow doesn’t always come back on demand so that can be frustrating. It’s also tough sometimes balancing the needs of an author with the rest of your life.
What inspires you to write?
I’ve always had an overactive imagination. The story and the characters conspire to make me set it down in a book. They simply won’t leave me be. It’s a wonderful feeling to know you can brighten someone’s day with the words you put together into a story.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
Hidden Desire and the series it’s in is a spinoff of my Legends of the White Werewolf series. The series is about six ladies that are part of the white werewolf bloodline but human. They fall for six werewolves but they reject their fated mates because they cling to their humanity.
How did you conduct your research for –Hidden Desire?
There wasn’t a need for research so much as digging deep into some of my past experiences. People are interesting to watch and some share their personal lives freely which helps build the personalities and lives of various characters.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from –Hidden Desire?
“Let’s get things straight before we get started. I like to take charge.”–Ven
“You have a stubborn white wolf, young male. There will be excitement of all kinds in your life once you claim her. Are you prepared for it?”—a witch
He fell back against the bed and groaned, “Female, you are something else.”
It made her giggle which was a liberating feeling after feeling so bad for so long. Winking at him, she said, “You have no idea.”
What would your friends say is your best quality?
Loyalty and maybe persistence being second. If you want a good friend, you need to be a good friend.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Reader reviews are important to every author. They tell you what you are doing right or wrong. Other readers see the reviews and it peaks their interest. Sometimes it may tell them the book is not for them but sometimes it pulls them in and makes them take a chance on it. Not every book is for every reader. If it’s not their cup of tea, it’s best for them not to read it.

What do you do when you don’t write?
This is a great time for that question. We just returned from a vacation to Orlando Florida where we caught the race at Daytona, went deep sea fishing, and spent two days at Kennedy Space Center. I love Nascar and since Jeff Gordon has retired I need to pick a new driver to cheer for. I went fishing a lot when I was younger but never deep sea fishing. It was great and I won the ship pool by catching the largest fish by weight. It was a yellow snapper. Kennedy space Center was amazing and I am deeply interested in everything about the space program. We wanted to see a rocket launch but we tried two days, each time it got scrubbed. The last time was one minute from launch. The disappointment was unbelievable. In a nutshell I have a lot of interests and I indulge them when I can.
Tell us about your other books?
One of Crystal Dawn’s main series are the different white wolf books which spurred the series that Hidden Desire is part of. White wolves are a powerful werewolf bloodline thought lost but they have just bred with humans until they basically disappeared until a werewolf loses control and mates what he thinks is a full human. When she goes through the change, she turns into a snow white wolf. Now the werewolves, who are dying out and particularly lacking in she wolves, all want a white wolf of their own. Not all white wolf females want to be possessed by the dominating alpha wolves that come after them. Hidden Desire is about one of those females and the rugged alpha that chases her. The Legend of the White werewolf series that begun this is a free series available at most retailers except Amazon.
I have a science fiction romance series, Frozen Origin. A company that manipulates DNA finds a burial chamber with a super being in it. Surprisingly he is in pristine condition and perfect to take DNA from. With his DNA they breed a group of beings they call gods. The first book is Zeus. This summer I hope to write an epic novel about the father of this group. It will go back to his time and take us up to now.
There is a dragon shifter/alien series, Winged Beasts that I’ve started and it has a prequel and book 1 out so far. Last but not least, I have begun a Witches of Ulyss series which only has one book so far. It was published as a serial and a complete book too.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be?
I absolutely love my readers and appreciate hearing from them.

Shock registered as his large, firm hand came down hard on her backside. “Jason! What the hell do you—” Another slap rang out in the otherwise quiet barn and she could hear Jason’s breathing getting heavy, faster as he panted out obscenities. Kathryn felt a blush of heat infuse her face, trailing down her neck to her chest, just as the high temperature spread out over her bruising bottom and down her thighs, sending a rush of moisture to her core. She felt mortified to be in this position. How dare he treat me like a child! Sputtering and attempting her best to wiggle away from his forceful punishment, Kathryn wasn’t sure if she were more disgusted by the fact she was being spanked, or her response to his manhandling and objectification.
Jason raged on, “You. Will. Take. Better. Care. Of. Yourself. Young. Lady.”
It was clear to her she’d crossed some line, though she truly didn’t understand what, and he didn’t seem to be slowing any as her buttocks now began a throbbing, searing burn. Tears sprung to her eyes against her will, and for the first time in forever Kathryn couldn’t contain them and had no choice but to let them fall. She stilled her movements, became docile and prone over his legs, no longer fighting the spanking as tears tracked down her face and dropped into the hay on the floor of the barn. The contrast of emotions running through her at this moment sucked away her very breath. Ever since she was young, Kiki Howell has loved to listen to a well-woven tale with real characters, inspired plots, and delightful resolutions. Kiki could spend hours lost in a book, and soon she knew that creating lives, loves, and losses with just words had to be the greatest thing that she could do. To that end, she pursued her study of literature and writing, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. She then followed in a Master’s program in Creative Writing.
“After a long break having my boys, I finally just had to write again. And, as soon as I gave the stories the space, they entered it. It’s both awesome and humbling to find the words in my mind become characters on a page and create their lives.”
She has now had over forty stories published between eleven different publishers. She could not be more thrilled or grateful to see her creations polished and out in the real world. In May, 2011, Kiki was chosen as an Ohioana Book Festival author for her novel, Torn Asunder. She’s also had three flash fiction stories win writing contests. Since the fall of 2013, she’s had three novels – Hidden Salem, Salem’s Revenge, and What Lies Within Us – hit Amazon Top 100 Bestsellers Lists in several categories like Paranormal, Suspense, Ghosts, Gothic Fiction, and Occult Horror. Just recently, the second in her Salem Series, Salem’s Revenge, hit the Top 10 on Amazon in Witch & Wizard Thrillers.
In March 2015, Kiki coordinated and edited her first charity anthology, We Go On, with all proceeds going to veteran’s charities.

Hello Kiki! Thank you for taking the time to join us for an interview about your story in the Alpha Fever Book Set!
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing since I was a kid and didn’t like how a TV show or book ended and re-wrote the ending in my head. Eventually, I started creating my own stories and putting them down on paper. As life would have it, there have been times in my life when I couldn’t write, but the desire has stayed.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Best aspects of writing are researching and writing that first draft. Worst aspects are all the other crap that evolves around that *giggles*
What inspires you to write?
So many things, from a story someone told me that I didn’t like the ending to, so in my head I fixed it to a vague idea od a type of character or situation that evolves into a plot.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs, written with Gina Kincade. Honestly, this story line was Gina’s idea, and I just rolled with it.
How did you conduct your research for Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs?
Online, taking virtual trips to ranches in California along with looking up a few things a wealthy woman would do there to pass the time.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs ?
Sorry, but I find questions like this a challenge. Picking a favorite anything from song to book to line is just impossible for me. So, that said, I’m putting all three (or a few more) lines together. This snippet gives a good love this look into our wealthy, spoiled heroine’s mindset in the beginning.
I’m not spoiled, just deserving. Daddy says so. I’m entitled to more than living like a prisoner in these low-class places with heathen–all muscles with no brains or class–guys watching my every move, loving looking down on me out of sheer jealousy. The words rumbled around in her brain so violently they were causing a headache.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I’m told that I’m a good listener.
Are reader reviews important to you?
To some extent. Always thrilled to hear that someone likes the book, and I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so bad reviews if honest don’t bother me, but those who have to be mean does bother me. You can say you don’t like a story without phrasing it that it made you want to throw you Kindle across the room.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I’m a wife and mom, so all that family and home stuff like grocery shopping and paying bills, etc, but right now I’m also in Yoga Teacher Training, so that is keeping me very busy and sore *winks*
Tell us about your other books?
Well, actually, Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs is a bit different for me, as I usually write paranormal characters. I’m in quite a few box sets rights now. I have a shifter story, Mystical Mayhem in the Alpha Shifters After Dark Box Set available now. Releasing in April, I have more magical novel, What Lies Within Us (also co-authored with Gina Kincade), in the Beyond the Veil Box Set. About The Short Story

For a Thursday evening, Stratosphere’s dungeon
was surprisingly busy. He sipped at the bottled
water a waitress had brought for him earlier.
The staff knew him by sight, the single tail
he wore wrapped diagonally around his chest
was his signature accessory. House Doms wore
masks to conceal their identities, and each chose
something singular to identify themselves.
Sir Daniel’s weapon of choice was the
single tail whip, and he wore it as his badge.
Sconces lined the walls, giving off a soft light
that left most of the room in some degree of shadowy
privacy for its occupants. A red spotlight shone down
on the stage and cast a sensual glow over the naked man
bound to a frame in its center. The submissive’s wrists
and ankles were bound with simple jute, the heavy rope
cuffs securing him suspended from the sturdy metal.
Mistress lifted her flogger, a heavy fall of long,
thick leather straps, and flicked her wrist. The
tails whooshed through the air,
landing with
a solid thwack across her submissive’s
broad back.
Tom flinched, familiar with
the feel of
Mistress’ powerful swing and
the brutal sting
of her flogger. He would have felt bad
for the sub,
except he knew just how much Jonas,
Mistress’ boy-toy,
loved the pain she meted out to him.
The opening notes of Nick Jonas’ Levels
boomed out from the sound system
and Tom
straightened. He took the few short
steps to where
the Saint Andrews Cross stood and
scanned the
crowd for Angel. The song was her cue
that she
was on the floor, and on her way to him.
He grinned,
spotting the familiar shape of her
face beneath
the mask she wore. His eyes roamed from the
top of her head,
and the tight bun at the crown, to the sweep
of her forehead
and the curve of her cheek beneath the
leather strip
covering her eyes.
Her eyes met his and her lips curved into
a small smile of
acknowledgement as she made her way
through the crowd.
Tom noticed the short robe Angel wore,
the article of
clothing out of place with her
usual appearance.
His beautiful little sub wasn’t
one to hide her body.
Clad in nothing but her
custom made cuffs,
she strode through the
club from the
locker-room to the play
area confident and
comfortable in all of

It’s great to be here, and to get the word
about my book, as well as the 21 other
fantastic stories in the
Alpha Fever boxed set.
How long have you been a writer
and how did
you come to writing?
I’ve been writing professionally since
2009 when
I wrote the first book in my
Abbey of Angels series, Ardeur.
Writing is something I’ve
been doing for as long
as I can remember.
Books, and a deep love of
them, have been a part of
my life since childhood.
I can remember writing
stories down on a
little heart-shaped notepad
in 7th grade and
filling the pages with my loopy scrawl.
What are the best and the worst
aspects of writing?
For me, the best part is being able to create.
I get to tell stories about fantastical worlds
and creatures, sexy Doms and their equally
beautiful submissives. The world is my oyster
when I’m putting words on the page.
The downside is that I’m very critical
of my own work, and have a hard time
shutting of my inner editor so that
I can write without editing as I go.
What inspires you to write?
Writing is my passion, so the inspiration
comes easily. It’s what I’ve always wanted
to do. Now I get to do exercise
my passion, and share my work with readers.
What is the title of your story included
in Alpha Fever?
How did you come up with this story?
Club Stratosphere: Lexa and Tom.
It was originally a short story that I’d
written several years ago, but I didn’t
feel like it was finished. When I was offered
the opportunity to be included in the Alpha Fever
compilation, I knew this was my chance to
give the story the attention it deserved.
How did you conduct your research for
Club Stratosphere:
Lexa and Tom?
Personal experience, visits to Swingers/BDSM clubs
and local lifestyle events. I have several friends,
and acquaintances in the lifestyle who were
happy to share their knowledge and
experiences as well.
What are 3 of your favorite

Tell us about your other books?
The Abbey of Angels is a series of
Paranormal Romance books with
the main setting in a hidden-from-humans
part of an abbey.
The annex is run by angels and is a refuge
for supernatural
beings seeking asylum. There are currently
three (3) books
in the series, and several more planned.
Aside from the AoA series, I have four stand-alone
Erotic Romance novellas: Cursed, Tarnished Tiaras,
UnWrapped
and The Lists.
There are more stories planned for Club Stratospheres, too.
The original story starring Ellie and Robbie Avery
(formerly of Miss Ellie Swings) is next.
