Fuck this little man and his microscopic life. If he wanted to call me weak, I could easily expose the same pathetic quality in him. I traced my fingers over the soft skin of my breast as I leaned forward and whispered straight into his ear. “You know, Mason…tightness in a woman can be quite a desirable quality.”
If my heavy breathing and display of cleavage had any effect on him, he hid it well. He just leaned against me and whispered back. “Christina, I’m your therapist. We’ve talked about your childhood, your adolescence, and…all the things you’ve done to get where you are. Are you sure your current tightness isn’t just a reaction to all your…looseness?”
I barely registered that I’d moved, yet suddenly my palm was tingling and Mason was clutching his cheek, his glasses lying like a crushed insect on the floor.
A ball of unreleased scream sat in the base of my throat and made it almost impossible for me to speak, but I managed to strangle out a yell. “You voyeuristic cunt! You get off on my exploits, don’t you? I bet you finish every one of our sessions with a ten-minute jerk-off!” I almost spat in his face. “Or maybe you only last three.”
Mason shook his head and rubbed at his reddened flesh. To my surprise he laughed. “Was it something I said?”
I closed my eyes and pushed a few stray hairs back behind my ear. I let a long breath seep out of me as I regained my composure. “You be sure to send me the bill for those glasses, Mason.”
“One hour. Hotel Alexander.” His voice faded slightly as I reached the elevator. “No excuses, Christina.”
Erotic romance author who falls in love with a scent, an expression or an act of intimacy more than with physical beauty. Abi Aiken is a youngish latte-swilling movie-lover with fewer secrets than you might think. As an only child, she found the best way to have conversations (and win arguments) was to play all the parts herself. G’day everyone. (As an Aussie I’m contractually obligated to use that greeting). I’m Willsin Rowe, author and cover artist. I’m in this anthology under my pen name, Abi Aiken.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing in one form or another since I was in about Grade 3, but it was in 2006 that I first took the leap into publishing. I’ve always been in love with words, and with word-play. From puzzles to poems to comics to books. It just seemed natural to take what I loved and try to make it my work as well.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
I love the power of words to evoke emotion. The idea that I could sit here in the muggy summer of Brisbane and craft a story which is then read by someone in, say, the middle of a Canadian winter, and have it touch them deeply, is an amazing concept.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
Billionaire Dominance, co-written with Rozlyn Sparks. Essentially, we wanted to try a twist on the regular Billionaire stories out there by reversing the genders but not the roles. It seemed as if there was an avenue not being explored: that of the person with great power in their life, and who needs their sex life to be the antithesis to that. To be dominant as hell in the boardroom and, in order to balance it, submissive in the bedroom.
How did you conduct your research for “Billionaire Dominance”?
A lot of reading, asking questions, and more reading! Also, just some logical thought. I’m all about balance and even-handedness, and it always struck me as odd to have characters who were perma-Doms. At work, at home, at leisure… Dom, Dom, Dom. We all have yin and yang, and
Rozlyn and I wanted to explore a character whose submission in bed was not just as a balance to her dominance in life, but also vital to her existence. To make it from a craving into a need.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from “Billionaire Dominance”?
– In a world where I constantly had to think at least six to twelve months ahead, a consequence that was both immediate and tangible somehow felt like a luxury.
– “You and I are but the briefest lightning flash of life. Just like everybody else. To carry more than your share is a form of madness.”
– “This soreness you feel now will be with you for several days.”
“Yes, Master.”
“Let it serve as a reminder of what you’ve learned. Think of it as my eyes watching you at work.”
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I ended up having to ask a couple of them, because I wasn’t sure. It boiled down, essentially, to “honesty, compassion, and the ability to see beauty where many others won’t”.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Absolutely. I doubt I’ll be saying anything particularly new here, but a genuine review is vital, whether it’s positive, negative or neutral. Authors should always be learning their craft. As Abi, I learned some valuable pointers between my first and second stories from two separate reviews. The reviews were quite positive—both 4-stars, from memory—but they each had a couple of elements they thought needed work. And I worked on those for the second story, which gained even more positive reviews.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I’m an in-demand cover artist, I play bass in a swampy blues/folk band (currently on a break) and I’m a busy husband and father.
Tell us about your other books?
Well, along similar lines to this Alpha Fever bundle, and particularly our story within it, I have another co-written series with Rozlyn Sparks (again, under my Abi Aiken pen name). It’s called Sex Education, and has three separate titles featuring a Dominant college professor with a crisp English accent, and an undisciplined college student who, at the start of book one doesn’t realize she’s submissive! Everything else I have, co-written or under my Willsin name, features beautiful plus size/curvy women and the men (like me!) who adore them.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be?
Um… I can lick my own elbow!

Thank you so much for having me here today. I’m thrilled to be here to celebrate the release of Alpha Heat. My inclusion, Alpha’s Temptation gives you a quick glimpse of our Hero, Warren, as he gives his mate a sexy boxing lesson.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’m a relatively new writer. Sometimes I feel like a bit of a poser hanging out with such great authors like the ones in this set. I always wanted to write, and even back when I was a teen, it was always romance that drew me in, but
it wasn’t until about five years ago that a friend of mine introduced me to the world of Paranormal Romance. Now I’m hooked. I read it, write it, live it, breathe it. It’s a problem, really, but since it’s not recognized as a true addiction, I’ve learned to live with it.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best aspect of writing for me has to be the freedom of letting my imagination run wild. I’m a total pantser when it comes to writing. I sometimes wish I wasn’t, but plotting just seems to bog me down. When I sit at my computer and let my fingers fly, I get lost in my own world of make believe. It’s just so much fun.
The worst? It has to be when I’m sitting in front of my computer and staring at the screen. That usually means I’ve done something to upset my characters and they’ve stopped talking to me. Until I fix the issue, they won’t let me move forward. They’re quite finicky that way.
What inspires you to write?
I often find inspiration in music. I like to play songs that tear at my heart strings when my heroes and heroines are going through a rough patch. Otherwise, just life in general. I will see something in real life, then my brain kicks in and says… “Yeah, that would make a good story.” Of course, I add dragons and wolves to the mix.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
My contribution to this amazing set is called Alpha’s Temptation. The story actually came from an idea I had months ago, but due to prior commitments, I hadn’t had the chance to explore yet. As a reader, I like to vary the heat levels in the romance I read, so when the opportunity came up to submit a story that was hotter than what I normally write, I couldn’t pass it up.
How did you conduct your research for Alpha’s Temptation?
Oh my, what a loaded question. Lol Since I’d never written anything with BDSM elements, I spent hours doing online research in the hopes of getting the terminology right and seeing how things are done. I asked a few friends who were more knowledgeable that I am, and there you have it. I’ll admit, my husband gave me a couple of odd looks when he saw what I was looking at late one night.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Alpha’s Temptation?
She had to be smack dab in the middle of other males, hopping around like fucking Muhammad Ali.
He should have kept his fucking jeans on. At least he could pretend the raging hard on tenting his sweats didn’t exist.
His voice rumbled deep and sexy right next to her ear. His hot breath fanned her neck, sending a shiver straight through her.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
So, I asked my best friend, who happens to be my hubby, and I’m not even going to say what his first answer was. lol After his initial reaction, he said the next thing was my kindness.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Reader reviews are so, so important to me. Not only does it help bring light to my stories, but it helps me understand what readers are looking for in their paranormal romance. Any feedback, good or bad helps me focus my work so that I can bring more of what readers love onto the pages of my books, and less of what they don’t.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I’m always busy doing something. When I’m not writing, I like to spend as much time as I can with my family. I’ll be honest though and say that when I’m not writing, I’m usually thinking about writing, working on scenes in my head, or looking up inspirational pics (naked chested men work well ;) ).
Tell us about your other books?
I usually write about sexy dragon shifters. My first series, Return to Avalore, actually features dragon, phoenix, and gryphon shifters. The stories are set is a mystical place called Avalore, where one woman rules and keeps the balance between good and evil. When dark creatures threaten the Avalorians’ very existence, the men step in and all kinds of sexiness ensues.
The second consists of pure dragon shifter goodness. My Dragon Blood series consists of novella length stories of sexy alpha males and the mates that tame them.
Alpha’s Temptation is my first foray into the world of wolf shifters. I absolutely loved writing this even though it wasn’t quite in my wheel house. This short story is a little peek into Warren and Joy’s beginning. A sexy boxing lesson, an alpha who can barely contain his desires, and the woman who drives him wild all wrapped up into one sexy story.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be?

“Are you shingling the roof?” He sounded absolutely astonished as he walked sure-footedly along the edge of the roof till he reached me. He folded himself down next to me, and surveyed my collection of tools with a peculiar expression on his face.
I nodded. “I am. What are you doing here, Mr. Drake? And how did you know where I lived?”
“Google.” He ignored the rest of my question. “Have you shingled a roof before?”
“I have not.” My voice was lofty. “But I’m handy enough, and I watched a YouTube video. Did you come here to critique my every move?” I glared at him, but that turned out to be a mistake. I caught a glimpse of the ground and my skin turned clammy. Oh god, I was going to be sick all over Ryder Drake.
“Are you ill?” There was sudden concern in his voice.
“I’m afraid of heights,” I gritted out through clenched teeth. “Mr. Drake, I’m twenty feet off the ground. Can we chat later?”
“For fuck’s sake,” he snapped at me. “Zoe, stop this nonsense before you hurt yourself. Come on down and I’ll call someone to fix your roof for you.”
“Can’t pay them.” I kept my voice light. “Thank you for the offer, though.”
He ran his fingers through his hair. “I’m not going to bill you, Zoe,” he said, exasperation coloring his voice. “Will you please come down? I need to talk to you
about something.”
I frowned at him. Come to think of it, he didn’t look as self-assured as he had last night. There were dark circles around his eyes, and his hair was messy. He was wearing a faded pair of jeans and a black t-shirt, and he had a pair of battered sneakers on his feet. He looked very un-billionaire this morning.
I seized upon the most obvious explanation for his disarray. “Did Brad do something after I left?” I asked. “I already told you. I don’t control Brad.”
He rolled his eyes. “I can handle Wexley,” he said. “No, I need to talk to you about a personal matter.” His fingers closed over my wrist. “Please?”
It was the please that did it. Ryder Drake was asking for a favor, not barking out orders? I didn’t know him at all, but I still didn’t think this moment happened very often.

“What?” I was aware that my mouth hung open in shock, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. Did I just hear Ryder say he needed to marry me?
“I need you to marry me,” he repeated, a thread of impatience in his voice. “I’ll make it worth your while.”
This had to be some kind of elaborate practical joke, but I failed to see the humor in the situation. “After one kiss?” I quipped, trying to calm my fluttering nerves. My heart galloped in my chest and my head spun. My body was reacting as if I was still balanced at the edge of the roof, looking down. “I’m flattered.”
He laughed at that. A short, reluctant bark of laughter, but a laugh nonetheless. “Indeed,” he noted wryly. “Perhaps I should start at the beginning.”

Hi! I’m Tara Crescent. I’m addicted to Doctor Who, I just finished watching Sense 8 on Netflix, and apart from all of that, I’m a writer. And I’m delighted to be here today!

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve started many books, but I published my first novel in October 2014. I’ve been a reader all my life, and I guess writing felt like a natural progression? When I was nine, I wanted to be a journalist, so making a living with words has always been a dream for me.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
I get to make up stuff, put the voices in my head to paper, and bring them to life? What could be better? The down side – it can be solitary, and it takes up a lot of time, particularly if you also work at another job (I work fulltime, and write in the margins.)
What inspires you to write?
Mostly, reading other people’s books. When I see other people’s creativity at work, I’m inspired to create too!
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
His Temporary Wife is a modern-day marriage of convenience story in which a billionaire who needs a wife in a hurry arranges to marry a woman for six months, for two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Of course, complications occur, and they discover that their arrangement isn’t satisfying either one of them…
I wrote it because I adore marriage of convenience stories. There’s something about people realizing they are in love with each other that completely satisfies the romantic in me. My Kindle is stuffed with them!
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I’m not good at replying to emails, but I show up when it counts.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Yes! I live for reviews, I plead shamelessly for them, I love reviews. Even the bad ones. Like I said before, writing is a solitary task, and I thrive on feedback. Knowing people are reading my books keeps me writing.

What do you do when you don’t write?
In the summer, I have a vegetable garden that I tend to, and I tend to spend a lot of time outdoors. In the winter, I huddle indoors. Mostly, when not writing, I’m dreaming up my next trip. I love to travel!

My current series is a MFM menage series called Playing For Love. Betting on Bailey is the first book of the series.

What do you say about yourself? Aren’t we supposed to write these in third person? Oh well, here I go! I have been writing and reading since I was able to pick up a pen and read a book. I can’t even begin to list the amounts of book that I’ve devoured over the course of my life; from the Babysitter’s Club to R.L.Stein to the classics and the novels of my degrees. I have spent countless hours between the covers of classics during my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western Connecticut State University, resulting in a BA English: Comparative Literature and a MA English: Professional Writing.
Recently, I have been focusing both my writings and my readings in erotica, BDSM and contemporary romance. And no, Fifty Shades of Grey did not get me on the BDSM bandwagon. If anything it opened the idea up more to me, but alas I have my own opinions on the trilogy.
I am trying to focus my writings on the emotional aspects of the erotic world, the emotional bondage of BDSM. I am interested in what makes people want to be dominant or submissive, the connection, etc. But I do like to read about a good flogging and bondage story too, the smuttier the better. :)

I’ve been a writer my entire life, but “professionally” I’ve been writing about three years and started as my thesis for my Master’s degree. Iam a lover of literature- always have been.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best aspects are sharing my worlds with others. I enjoy being able to create a world and put it out there for others to hopefully enjoy. Worst aspect of writing…hmmm definitely rejection. I don’t take it well (who does?) but it is a part of the business.
What inspires you to write?
Everything! I might hear a song and be like “oh that will work as a lead in” or see something and be like, “damn, that would make a great story.” Inspiration is everywhere around us- you just have to recognize it!
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
“Until We Meet Again” Funny story…. The first line of the first chapter was actually spoken by one of my nursing school friends. I took it and ran! The idea for the book/novella developed out of it.
How did you conduct your research?
I write BDSM fiction, not much research involved when you um… you know… cough cough… Besides that, I utilize every resource possible; people in the lifestyle, my own experiences, I go to conferences, etc.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes?
”I swear to Christ if I don’t get laid soon, I’m going to dry hump the mailman!” Anne said as she looked around the bar and then back at her drink, an oversized margarita that Gillian had bought her just seconds ago.
”And I know you’d do it too.” Gillian raised her glass and toasted her friend.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I’m a very caring and loyal friend.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Aren’t they to everyone? Of course they are important and I am appreciateive of the time that the reviewr spends writing them, but I won’t force people to write them. I want your honest reviews.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I feel like that should say “what don’t you do…” I am a mom to two young and very active children, so we have karate, hockey, girl scouts (which I lead), nursing school and a full time job! Besides that I enjoy reading and watching hockey- Let’s go Rangers!
Tell us about your other books?
I write about aplha male dominates that you will love. We have club owners, miltiary men, hockey players (my fav J), rockers and even some sexy MC males.
Currently I have ten books published with five more scheduled this year. I cater to every subgenre except paranormal. Take a look at my website and see what strikes your fancy!

Hi there! Thanks for having me today. I’m thrilled to be here. This is my first interview and I can’t wait to interact with you and the readers!
Welcome aboard Isis! Let’s get started!
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
A little bit over 3 years, though I don’t have many of my works published because my muse likes to start stories and then shiny new stories come along she wants to play with. Working on finishing up several manuscripts now. I came into writing from being a reader and wanting the chance to write something I’d want to read as a reader or how I’d like an Alpha male to be. Strong, Able to provide, comes off gruff but with his mate? He is sweet and mushy and says all the right things.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Time is both the best and the worst. The best because with time you improve the quality of your work. The worst because there is never enough time in a day to write as much as you’d like to. It’s a classic case of Catch 22.
What inspires you to write?
Deadlines LOL! ;) Those are some damn motivating factors when you’ve got work
due and you aren’t publishing it on your own. I’ve found deadlines motivate me a lot more than I motivate myself, because in the end if I’m in a boxed set if I don’t turn something in that is affecting not just myself but several other authors. I’m also inspired by the love and extreme passion I have with my husband. There are definitely pieces of my hubby in all my heroes. He’s my book boyfriend of choice!
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
“Hade’s Playground” is my title in Alpha Fever. This was one of the uncompleted manuscripts I talked about above. I came up with this story because I’ve always loved Greek mythology and just being able to put the focus on Hade’s, who is one of my favorite Greek gods just appealed to me.
How did you conduct your research for Hade’s Witch?
Just double checked my facts on relationships, since we all know that Greek relationships to each other and other people are difficult to follow. I had to verify indeed Dionysus was Hade’s nephew. He’s the son of Zeus, but I wanted to double check that before adding any snippets about Hade’s being his Uncle.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Hade’s Witch?
“Hades,” the growl that tore from Eva’s throat could have rivaled that of any shifter and the sound caused Hades to chuckle darkly.
“I said, please what?” he repeated the question, his voice low and mocking.
He was ready to put her over his knee and spank the correct answer out of her.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
This one is hard for me. They would probably say my big heart or my loving personality. I am an extremely positive person and believe in putting good thoughts/words out into the Universe. I don’t like negativity or dealing with drama and I’ve found the difference to positive/negative in your life is your reaction to those instances. Life can be bad and you can focus on the negative of that…but ultimately you still feel bad when you focus on the negative. If you focus on the positive of any situation, it’s still bad..but a positive attitude makes it easier to deal with. I’ve learned to just laugh when something happens, like dropping my soda all over the floor. I just giggle and mop it up and then I’m not so pissy afterwards LOL ;)
Are reader reviews important to you?
Yes and no. I think for writers it’s important to tell your story as your characters speak to you. Of course you want your fans to like your books and constructive criticism is always helpful, but ultimately it’s about obeying your Muse and getting the story out there to shut her up ;)
Do you have any blogs/websites?

What do you do when you don’t write?
I spend time with my amazing husband, either talking or watching movies/shows. I got him into Game of Thrones and Outlander so it’s always a blast watching new episodes with each other. We also have our 4 month old daughter Fate who joins in on the movie watching, though her preference is more Winnie the Pooh vs. Outlander LOL! ;)
Tell us about your other books?
Currently I have Professor Cox from my Riding Professor Cox erotic short story. He’s a sexy Greek God looking professor and his student finds out just how sexy he really is when she finds out she’s failing his class.
Onyx is my delicious vampire from Witch Playground (a short story) from the Alpha Heat free boxed set, who’s willing to step up and help witch Samantha out with a huge fine for breaking paranormal law, if she’ll spend a night with him.
The last hero I’ve got published is Hade’s from Hade’s Playground. He meets his future mate Eva Zayas and discovers a startling secret about her, which could put both their lives at risk if he lets himself be jealous.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be?
I’m the geekiest gal you’d probably meet. I love all the Harry Potter movies, all the Lord of the Ring movies, all the Hobbit movies. My hubby laughs at me because whenever we are watching one of them I’m always saying the line before it even is spoken and he’ll be like “what?” and then a second later the character will say the line and he just laughs and shakes his head at me.

the best part of writing is the fact that you get to make this
whole world out of a small idea that you can nourish into something
that people can’t get enough of.

to write?

What is the title
of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with
this story?
The Thrill of the Chase
I knew I wanted to
do a shifter type of story and I also knew that I wanted it to be an
animal that has never been used before. Or that I had never read of
before. So I searched for animals on Google and viola came up with the
idea of Declan Fairfax, his best friend Christian and, of course there
has to be a girl involved. Enter Declan’s fiancée Tamara Bones J
How did you conduct
your research for The Thrill of the Chase?
I used Google and
Wikipedia mostly for my research on the type of animal I chose
to write about.

I’m a good listener.

Right now the only books
I have out are the Alpha Fever Boxed Set that I’m so honored to have been
included in as well as the Between the Snowflakes: A Romantic Christmas
Collection anthology. My contribution in the Between the Snowflakes antho
is titled “Frolicking in the Snow” and it is about reindeer shifters ;-)
I’m in the process of revising my novella Love Story of a Reaper, which
is about a young woman who finds out that she is a Grim Reaper who had
been raised by humans. Her adventures are so much fun to write about!
I’m hoping to have that out within the next 3-6 months :-D

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember but it’s only been in the past four years that my career has taken a turn from a hobby to something more.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best is the creative part. Building a world that is all your own and giving voice to characters that I love.
The worst-massive edit rewrites-the kind that guts your story to the core and set your writing schedule back a month. Just had that and it about killed me. Lol.
What inspires you to write?
Everything. I have an active imagination and little bits of my world find their way into everything I write.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
Hedging Her Bets is the title to the first book in the Shifting Hearts Dating Agency series. I have been doing lots of shifter books lately and wanted to combine an unlikely combination of personalities and shifter animals. A hedgie, a bear and a cat make up this ménage tale, but don’t worry-all the action happens when they are fully human. Lol. I wanted to use a title that reflected the animal I was most interested in with the roulette wheel that dating services can sometimes be.
How did you conduct your research for Hedging Her Bets?
I search Pinterest like a fiend for nearly every project I write and make storyboards from it. Helps to get the characters in my head and make everything more real. I was looking at hedgehog pictures and mannerisms and my husband came into the room and said “You can’t have one.” Busted.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Hedging Her Bets?
Well, this scene is actually one of my favs…
1. His eyes trailed over the food. “You are on a diet, right? Your mother said you were trying to lose weight.”
The fuck she did. A red haze of anger slid over her vision. What the hell was she doing here trying to do things by her mother’s rules?
Game over.
“Take it. Knock yourself out.” She shoved the plate toward him and stilled as her father stood and began to speak. No one noticed when she pushed back from the table, including her supposed date for the evening. She stalked out into the hallway and made her way back outside.
2. Lucas cleared his throat. “Did you want to check out the website again, or my gallery of pictures?”
Jonathan’s reply was husky, his lips turned up in a quirky smile. “No.” His hand shot out and cupped the back of Lucas’s head, drawing him forward toward the chair. “But I do feel the need to sample this…”
3. “Oh fuck, baby. I didn’t want to rush you.” Jonathan whispered in her ear.
“Mmmmm. You’re not. I need you. Now.” She wrapped her fingers in his hair and tugged him close, savoring the taste on his lips of the chardonnay he’d had with dinner.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
Loyalty.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I work full time as a manager of a bookstore. I’m also married with a pack of furry kids. I have a TBR pile that will one day kill me in my sleep and I love to crochet, knit and watch monster movies.
Tell us about your other books?

Rienne opened her eyes then looked at him. Instantly, his cock thickened. She had just given him an idea of what it would be like to have her beside him, to wake up in the morning and see her sleepy eyes. She was unbelievably enchanting.
“Hey, love. Tired?”
“Yes, but happy,” she replied sleepily. “I had a great time today. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” James opened his door then quickly went to the passenger’s side. Rienne had already unbuckled herself. Leaning down, he planted a kiss on her forehead, just because he couldn’t control himself. “Hang on to me.”
“What? Are you going to carry me inside?” Rienne smiled.
James had to look away at those beautiful lips. Damn. “Uh-huh. Looks like you’re dead on your feet.” As soon as Rienne wrapped her slender arms around his neck, he knew right away that carrying her was a bad idea. She smelled of shampoo, sunshine, summer, and a woman.
He scooped her up and held her tight. “What am I going to do with you?” He didn’t expect an answer and he didn’t get it. Rienne just sighed. Her breath tickled his neck. That simple action sent a delicious feeling down to his cock. Fuck. If he kept this up, they’d end up in bed—naked. Moreover, the way Rienne returned his kiss earlier, he had a feeling she wouldn’t mind if they shared a bed tonight.
Damn, damn, damn.
“Am I really that heavy?”
“What?”
“You’ve been grunting.”
“Sorry, love. I just thought of something.”
“Not about dropping me, I hope.”
Rienne said the words with her mouth almost touching his neck’s skin, her breath warm and arousing. “Never crossed my mind.” With a little bit of maneuvering, he managed to open the door. His dad never locked it whenever he was out at night.
Inside, a lamp left on gave him enough visibility to find the stairs. He pretended to drop Rienne. She screamed like an angel. “Shh! Brat, you’ll wake Dad.”
Rienne giggled. “You’re fault.” She wrapped her arms around his neck tighter.
Sighing, James tried to ignore her breasts pressed against him. Fuck, this is big time lunacy. He quickened his pace. The sooner he put her to bed, the better. In his arms, he held an innocent young woman. Inexperienced. And he had a huge hard on for her.
Fuck!
As soon as he reached Rienne’s bedroom, he used the toe of his shoe to kick the door open. Two vanity lights on each side of the headboard glowed softly in the room.
“We’re home.”
“Home,” Rienne replied with a soft voice that was very very sexy.
Damn. Why did she have to be a friend? Why couldn’t she just be someone he’d met, became infatuated, and fallen in love with? Fuck, he thought. He was just temporarily in love with Rienne the last time he saw her—if there was such a thing as temporary love. Now, seeing her again had brought out all the feelings and fantasies he’d had about her. A feeling that had been scratching his chest had started as a friendly affection, admiration and strong physical attraction. Now, he wanted more. His heart yearned for more.
As gentle as he could, he placed Rienne in the middle of her bed. He expected her to let go, but she didn’t.
“Thank you again for the wonderful time,” she said while her fingers played with his hair at the back of his neck.
“My pleasure, love.” He stared at her for a full minute while his thoughts ran amuck. He wanted so badly to kiss her again. Instead, he ran his hands through her hair. “Do you need anything?”
“No, thank you.”
“I had fun hanging out with you.”
“I’m not boring?”
Far from that. “Not at all. I’ll think of something to do tomorrow.”
Rienne smiled. “Do that.”
He kissed Rienne’s forehead with the intention of saying goodnight and leaving after, but he couldn’t.
“James…”
That was it. Rienne’s sensual way of saying his name snapped the thin thread he was hanging on to. Every sane reason why he shouldn’t be in her bed flew. What he wanted, won—to kiss Rienne again.

Hello there. Wow. Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity to share with you what my author life is about and how much fun I am having creating wonderful stories for everyone to enjoy. My name is Tierney O’Malley, an award winning contemporary and paranormal author. I live with my husband, our two girls and a golden retriever in the beautiful state of Washington. I love the outdoors as much as I love staying indoors. My husband and I are tennis players, we love to go for a walk, and spend quality time in front of the television while getting our hands greasy with popcorn. Lol.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I have been writing for almost eight years now. My debut novella was contracted by Cobblestone Press. While in Europe, eXtasy Books contracted my Knight Brothers series, Band Brothers, and other standalone books. All in that same year. So, after dreaming of seeing my name on a book cover, I found myself buried in multiple edits. And I loved it!
Creating stories has been a part of my everyday existence as far as I can recall. During my younger years, I stayed in my room for hours writing, copying songs from a songbook, while my friends were out having fun. I just love having a pen in my hand. (I still use a pen and a journal when I’m writing) However, I became serious about writing when my girls were in elementary grade. I’ve read a good number of historical books (yes, I am addicted to historical romance J.) Whenever I finished a book, the unseasoned writer in me kept poking its head out until I decided to write down all of my ideas on my PC. To Trust a Wicked Man came into fruition. At that time, Cobblestone Press had caught my attention. I read everything about the company and liked what I saw. I wanted to be a part of CP then. So, with my manuscripts(ms) ready to be submitted, I emailed it to CP. It got rejected. Lol. Yes. That was my first major rejection. I was not fazed by it though. After I received my ms that looked like it had been in a bloodbath, I took heed of the editors comments and suggestions. So, I reworked it and resubmitted although the editor didn’t say ‘resend’. Christmas time, CP offered me a contract for the ms. Since then I became a bat living in my bat cave most of the time creating contemporary sexy stories and with drool-worthy heroes.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
One of the best parts of writing is being able to create, to imagine, and to decide where and how my story should end. It’s like waving a magic wand and my characters comes to life. Writing is not easy, but it is really rewarding. Whenever I see my name on the book cover, that’s an achievement. A product of hard work. An ice cream on a hot sunny day.
The editing aspect of writing can be daunting, but I wouldn’t call it the worst. Like I said, writing is not easy, but there is nothing about it that I would consider unpleasant. I’ve been in this industry for years. I love it and will continue weaving stories as long as my mind and body will allow me.
What inspires you to write?
Everything around me, really. I live in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded with trees, beautiful mountains, islands and water. Whenever I look at those mountains, walk at the beach, the romantic side of me kicks in and ideas come up. Wolf’s Soul, the Midnight Howl novel that is included in Beyond the Veil boxed set headed by Gina Kincaid, is based on the Cascades. Scenes at The Best of June are based on Edmonds Marina and the Seattle area. The rest of my books are all based here.
I am sitting smack in the middle of this paradise that fills me with a strong desire to do something creative. It feeds me with ideas that I have spun into romantic stories.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
My story Always You is included in Alpha Fever. I thought about this story because of Facebook. Lol, yes. Facebook.
Always You is about two people who loved each other but circumstances separated them. Then, Fate intervenes. The hero and heroine reconnected again through Facebook. But…J I’ll just give you the blurb:

How did you conduct your research for Always You?
I did a bit of research on seaplanes and restaurants around the San Juan Islands using the Internet. With Always You, I’m lucky enough to not have to do any extensive researching or calling anyone for advice and confirmation. J
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Always You?
Here are my favorite lines from the book Always You.
1. “Don’t worry, James. I won’t touch anything that gives you pleasure.”
2. “You’re a boy. You hear innuendos all the time. Even if there is no innuendo.”
3. “Go from there? I know you’re dying to bang him again, but darling, he’s a ship’s captain. If I’m right, he’s floating on water for months. You know what that means. Months without sex. Who knows, maybe he has different women in every port. Seamen are known for that. Deprived, their sacs blue, and their hand’s covered with calluses from masturbating.”
What would your friends say is your best quality?
My best quality as an author? I’d say I am very good in creating believable characters that they can relate to and also I am funny.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Important in a sense that I can learn from them. I take readers reviews as if they are my editors. Of course, there are some reviews that have made me laugh, wonder, and shake my head, but you just have to weed those out. Reviews are cool. They help with publicity and sales. One book could be good to one reader but not with the other. However, they are opinions. Take what you think can help you when you write your next book. Readers are our audience. They can see what we often missed and I have respect for them.

What do you do when you don’t write?
Aside from tidying up the house because I spent too much time writing? Lol. Whenever I am not sitting in front of my Mac, I would be out for a walk with my husband or watching a movie from the Red Box after dinner. Most of the time though, I’d be playing my guitar. Love the instrument. I have four of them and I am looking into buying another one.
Tell us about your other books?

Wolf’s Soul (Beyond the Veil) is another lovely story that I worked so hard to write. Paranormal but very romantic. The characters, despite having powers, could die. But not really. Lol. There’s another twist to that. Also, this story is steamy with open door sex scenes.

They want to watch.
“Watch the Skies” was something of a departure for me. Not only was it my first time appearing in one of Gina Kincade’s box sets, it was my first time writing an alpha female – and didn’t that come as a surprise. I always like to write strong heroines. The era of the too-stupid-to-live heroine is behind us – or, if it isn’t, it should be. But my heroes and heroines tend to be equals rather than dominant or submissive. The only dominant I’d ever written was Will Vandenmeer from “Ready for Him”. So writing an alpha female was a leap, even if it was one I was looking forward to. “Watch the Skies” follows Aster Booker and Wade Sawyer, both members of a UFO investigation team. Aster wants Wade, but Wade seems to resent her very existence – her take-charge attitude makes him buck against her authority. While out on a vigil they are suddenly engulfed in light, waking up on an alien craft… naked, and hearing voices in their heads that tell Aster to fuck him, fuck him, fuck him. Suddenly Aster and Wade are forced to confront their desire for each other – but what do the aliens really want?
When she came to again, the light was fading. Dark shapes moved at the edges of her vision. Metal. Something metal underneath me. It was nothing like she had ever seen before and yet what it resembled most was a surgical bed. She was lying face down on a surgical bed. Naked. The lingering excitement she still felt began to dissipate as reality set in.
I’ve been abducted.
After all this time, after all the places they’d visited with minimal success, she hadn’t just had an encounter, she’d actually been abducted. Her stomach clenched in fear. Almost immediately she felt another rush of desire. It’s them, they’re controlling it. She forced open her eyes, which had fallen shut and fought against the sensation to focus on her surroundings.
Her hands and feet weren’t tied, that was good. Where were the others? Were they here? She cast a look round the room. The space seemed enormous; it was impossible to see the edges, they just vanished into the dark. Closer to her, all seemed to be white and metallic. The floor below shone a dull grey while the bed had a brighter layer and extending its edges where curves of metal that stood as a reminder of restraints.
To her right, she could see a second bed and Annah, sprawled on her back. She was still clothed, her blonde hair spilling over the edge of the bed, but her hands were restrained and Aster shivered. Further away she could see Hagar standing as if in a trance, her dark ponytail loosened around her shoulders, staring as if unseeing.
She looked to her left and immediately gasped. Wade was lying flat on his back completely naked, his body flushed and glistening with sweat. He wasn’t tied, but he was sprawled as if he was, arms and legs spread wide to the edges of the table. Aster’s eyes were immediately drawn down the line of blond fuzz to his cock, which stood proud in a nest of curls, straining towards the ceiling.
Oh God. I can’t. I can’t. Hastily she looked away, but the image lingered in her brain sending a frisson of longing through her body. She could picture herself mounting him, sliding his cock inside her, driving him into her over and over again. As the thought crossed her mind, she became aware of a dark shape directly in front of her. Looking at it was like looking into the sun. The edges were blurred, its shape difficult to determine. She had the impression of a head, of long fingers and of large eyes that bored into her soul.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’d been writing on and off for years but started writing for publication when I was about 28, while having an “oh God I’m nearly thirty” panic. My mentor for the Writer’s News fiction course was a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, so I joined their New Writer’s Scheme and never looked back.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
My favourite part of writing is the research. I’ve found all sorts of weird information and had plenty of strange experiences while researching books. The worst aspect is probably writer’s block – I’ve had days where I know what I want to write and I just can’t get it down, which is seriously annoying.
What inspires you to write?
Frequently music – I’ll usually have a playlist in my head for every story. Another source of inspiration is dreams, as I dream very vividly and have got some of my best ideas that way.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
My story is called “Watch the Skies”, about a group of alien hunters who have an unexpected encounter while out on a vigil. I came up with the idea after watching “Chasing UFOs”, a “Destination Truth”-style show following a team who investigated sites which had reported sightings. I’ve never claimed to know much about aliens – I’m more into ghost-hunting – but it struck me as an interesting concept.
How did you conduct your research for “Watch the Skies”?
I didn’t manage to go on an actual alien hunt, but I did search out some investigative groups and looked up the sorts of things they do. I also read some books on cryptozoology, since the manner of gathering evidence is much the same.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from “Watch the Skies”?
– “Maybe I like making you beg.”
– “For that, you get to eat me. Let’s see how good you are.”
– He was staring unashamedly, as though he had wanted nothing more in his life.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
Probably curiosity – I can take an interest in absolutely anything, no matter how strange. My husband likes to say I keep his brain active because at any time I can throw a random question at him based on what I’m writing – he’s never let me forget the time I asked him if you could pin someone to a tree with a spear.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Very much so – I want my readers to enjoy what I write, although I know that everyone has their own preferences so not everything I do will be to everyone’s taste.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I’m the exception to the suggestion that “dinner and a movie” dates are boring – two of my favourite things to do are go to the cinema and try new restaurants. I love horror movies in particular, the scarier the better.
Tell us about your other books?
I’ve been lucky to have the chance to try out a number of different genres within erotic romance. My debut novel “The Hand He Dealt” will always be my favourite – and, like this story, includes a pegging scene – but I’m also particularly fond of “Ready for Him”, my foray into BDSM with a dominant billionaire, and “I Heard Your Voice”, the first of two novellas about a paranormal investigator who can attract ghosts by singing.
I always try to include a strong heroine – I think the days of the too-stupid-to-live heroine are over – but “Watch the Skies” includes my first alpha heroine, which was certainly a departure for me. It was interesting to develop the dynamic between Aster and Wade – Wade isn’t used to being dominated by women, while Aster isn’t used to being rejected by men, so they were great fun to write.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be?
No matter how difficult it may be, I love every minute of my writing, and hope I can entertain my readers in the same way.
