SEASON OF FEAR

You first met Cab Bolton in my sixth novel THE BONE HOUSE.

Well, he's back! My newest novel SEASON OF FEAR is available in the UK right now. You'll have a chance to meet Cab again and some great new characters, too.

Here's a little taste of what you'll find in SEASON OF FEAR:

Ten years ago, an unknown assassin shattered the peace of the central Florida night with an act of mass violence. The event, a political fundraiser for the centrist Common Way Party, ended in murder and bloodshed. The dead included Congressional candidate Birch Fairmont and his top aide, Lyle Piper.

Among the attendees who survived: Hollywood actress Tarla Bolton, a childhood friend of Birch's wife Diane.

No one has forgotten the violent events of a decade ago. Since then, Diane Fairmont and Lyle's fiancée Caprice Dean have built the Common Way Foundation into a force to be reckoned with in state politics. Now, with scandals rocking the gubernatorial candidates from both mainstream parties, Diane has followed her late husband's footsteps into politics and vaulted to the lead in opinion polls.

Tarla and Caprice are both afraid of déjà vu - that Diane will face the same dangerous threats to her candidacy that Birch Fairmont faced, particularly because warnings have begun to arrive at the Common Way headquarters. Tarla turns to her son, Cab Bolton, to investigate the source of the threats and find out who is targeting Diane Fairmont for death.

Cab begins by re-examining the terrible events of that ten-year-old summer. The revelations lead him to question everything that happened that night, as he unearths secrets of abuse, dirty payoffs, and suicide.

And Cab has his own secrets from that summer that even Tarla doesn't know.

You can find SEASON OF FEAR at UK bookstores and online retailers. Don't miss it!

Carnegie Library of Steuben County

Mark your calendars for this very special event in Angola, Indiana! Brian visits the library there as part of the 100th birthday celebration for the Carnegie Public Library of Steuben County. So many beautiful Carnegie Libraries have been lost over the years, so this is a great time to recognize a community that has kept this historical tradition alive.

Stride's Duluth

Brian is back in Stride Country for a very special event at the Bookstore at Fitger's. Join him for a slide show on "Stride's Duluth" -- a photo tour of some of the real-life Northland places that inspired scenes in his books. See if you can match the place to the novel -- and watch out, because you may never look at some of these areas the same way again.

The Author's Wife

Those of you who follow me on Facebook or Twitter know that my wife Marcia and I approach the book biz as a team. She's always with me on the road for events, and readers love to ask her questions. She's my first reader on every new book, too, which makes her my best -- and most important -- editor.

Marcia has a behind-the-scenes perspective on the book world that readers really enjoy. So she has launched a Facebook page where you can find out more about our lives in publishing, at home and on the road. It's called "The Author's Wife." Go ahead and "like" her page, laugh along with her posts, send her your questions, and follow along on this journey with us.

Right now on her page, she's got a photo tour from the events in April that took us to bookstores and libraries around the Midwest. It's like being there...don't miss it!

Are we done? No, there are lots of events for THE COLD NOWHERE still to come, in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Michigan, and Indiana. Check out all the details at my Events page.
