TURN TO STONE in Paperback
As we were planning the release of my sixth Jonathan Stride novel, THE COLD NOWHERE, my editor and I discussed a special project to introduce Stride to new and existing readers. Since it had been more than three years since Stride appeared in THE BURYING PLACE (a finalist for Best Hardcover Novel in the International Thriller Awards), we wanted to give readers a special story that was "all Stride."
The result is TURN TO STONE, a 50,000-word Jonathan Stride thriller set in rural Wisconsin. It's a great way to get to know Stride, and it's a chilling mystery that will keep you guessing until the very last pages.
Until now, TURN TO STONE has been available exclusively as an e-book edition for your Nook, Kindle, or tablet, or in audio edition. However, readers have been clamoring for a paperback -- and we heard you! You can now order a special Limited Release paperback edition of TURN TO STONE at the www.bfreemanbooks.com web site.
The paperback of TURN TO STONE is available for shipping throughout the U.S. and around the world. Don't miss the chance to get your copy while supplies last! Get information on ordering the paperback of TURN TO STONE by clicking here.

Michigan
I was born in Chicago and spent my first ten years there -- but in many ways, I actually grew up as a Michigan boy.
Before I was born, my parents inherited a little cottage outside Coloma, as a result of a tragic car accident that killed my mother's grandfather. So from the time that I was a baby, my parents would take me to that cottage on summer weekends. That was where we spent most of our vacations when I was growing up.
The time we spent in Michigan shaped my love of the Midwest. When I think of Michigan, I think of the dirt roads, the corn fields, the great lake, the summer storms, and the hikes through the remote fields. Much of who I am as a writer today dates back to the cottage. Even when I'm writing about Minnesota, there's a lot of that Michigan boy behind the page.
I'll be back in Michigan for book events next week. I'll be at Aunt Agatha's in Ann Arbor on Tuesday July 22 and Kazoo Books in Kalamazoo on Wednesday July 23. You can find the details of the events here. For me, it's like a homecoming. At both events, I'll be talking about my Michigan roots -- and yes, I'll take the time on Wednesday to make a return visit to the cottage where I grew up.
Illinois. Michigan. Minnesota. Wisconsin. I love doing events in all of these places, because that's where I feel at home.
