“Almond Blossoms” is a hybrid of Japanese-esque subject matter and Impressionistic style. Vincent Van Gogh died at 37 but his brother Theo—who died six months later—was an art dealer & financier who supported Vincent unconditionally. “Almond Blossoms” was a gift from Vincent to commemorate the birth of Theo’s first and only son, who was named Vincent. That nephew is the same dude who founded this museum. (Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam)
