Maximising success?

Now and then, philosophers pay attention to the fact that men may not possess immense talent. You lose hope about their ever paying attention to people like us what with their lofty requirements of leadership and all. And then they turn their attention to you and you feel all is well with the world.Like, in this instance, Tiru says...Olva dharivadhu arindhadhan kanThangich chelvaarkuch

Silence can be really golden?

Yeah, yeah, it is true that when someone is riding his hobbyhorse he would prefer that his audience keeps quiet. After all, nothing pleases a speaker more than what he would think of as a respectful silence. So, it is but natural for a philosopher to praise the virtues of silence? THAT may well depend on the philosopher but, when the philosopher is long dead and gone, it may well be better to

More fearsome than fire?

There are times when what the philosopher says is too tough to follow. AND there are these other times when the philosopher seems to consider as tough what you see as dead easy...simply because he fears what you think of as inconsequential things. Which is why it always seems like the philosophers seem to live in a different world altogether.Tiru also acts in consonance with other philosophers.

Patience wins?

The problem with advice is that it, almost invariably, runs counter to what you want to do. (I have said it before? Well, then, the other problem with advice is that it is not that you do not KNOW it. It is just that you find it tough to put it in PRACTICE.) There is no point in crying about it to the philosopher expounding it. He'd only say that, if it were easy, everyone in the world would be a

Blame yourself?

The one thing you can be sure about philosophers is that they will find a way to make YOU the reason for your problems. Not for them the sympathetic posture when you rant about how the world is against you; nor do they lend an enthusiastic ear to how it is your jealous enemies who get in the way of your being feted wherever you go. No, they will always find out how YOU messed things up

True Wealth?

Sometimes, you end up not understanding philosophers simply because you tend to see those issues from a different vantage point than the one they intended. You know it seems silly to laud generosity when you think of yourself as the giver. After all, in this ungrateful world, only a fool parts with his wealth. The true magnificence of generosity dawns on you only when you are to be the recipient.

Useless speech

Philosophers seem to be particularly down on most things that us mango people like doing. Lolling around in bed, munching popcorn and watching TV? Bad for health and character. Going to the local pub and having a ball? Mucks up your liver and your life. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you die? The day after you'll be reborn as a slug. I mean, name the thing that you find enjoyable, and this

A human tortoise?

There is really no point in blaming philosophers for only preaching that which you do not want to practise. I mean, seriously, if you truly wanted to do something and a philosopher eggs you on to do that exact same thing, would you treat him respectfully as a sage? Like, if someone were to tell you, 'Eat, drink and be merry', do you treat him with the respect due to a wise man? (Ah, No, No, No!

Judge not by size?

The easiest way for people to judge is by size. 'Small equals weak; weak equals insignificant' is about the most simple and, possibly, unconscious judgments that people make. Obviously, that's among the more stupid judgments that can be made but, hey, when has the fear of being seen as stupid ever stopped anyone from doing anything? Especially when the majority of the world agrees with you?Of

A plastic mind?

The problem with being human is that, most of the time, we really do not know who we are or who we ourselves want to be. Like, so you yourself love partying or do you do it because you cannot digest the idea of being left out of the activity of your colleagues? Do you feel joy in screaming at the top of your voice in a quiet place or are you conditioned to think that screaming IS joy? How much of
