Odium III Review & MYSTERY GIVEAWAY!
Odium III, the latest installment in Claire C Riley’s bestselling zombie series!
5 STARS*****
It’s hard to give an in-depth review of this book without spoiling some phenomenal and twisty happenings within- not that established fans should be surprised by now. Riley has an innate (almost infuriating) ability to make us (her fans & readers) fall in love and like with her characters and then face-punch us like a well-worn heavy bag in a testosterone-riddled ghetto gym. You’d think we’d be pissed; that we’d wave ‘adios’ to Riley, unable to take one more instance of ‘what the f**k just happened?’
Right. Like that’s going to happen.
Because the truth is… well, we live for that s***t.
Let me just say these few things- Nina is in an even darker place- emotionally & physically. Nova is still the zombie-killing ninja we know and love, but a hint of a softer side peeks out and makes us go ‘awww, I totes like her more now’. Crazy Pants is a person (that needs a bath and some memory juice). Mikey’s still sexy (although we don’t see him as much, boo). Some characters that were ever-present in books 1 & 2 play supporting roles instead of being front-and-center, but that doesn’t mean they’re safe. And the questions (Hilary & Deacon) and cliff-hanger from book 2? Yeah, those are answered and played out in morbid, gut-wrenching, gooey detail that made my heart hurt. I put the book down a few times (that rarely happens to me). Of course… this book also ends with some tears, a cliff-hanger, and a ‘Nina… what the crap!?’. D*** you, Riley!
So prepare your face, you duct-taped punching bag, Riley’s got her gloves on and she likes to leave bruises.
Don’t just take it from me though. Here’s what other readers are saying about Odium 3!
“I have never really been a huge fan of stories that move past the Trilogy stage. But this is one series that you will want to sink your teeth into every single book the author puts out. You will want it to keep going and going.” -Stormy Grant, Amazon.com
“Odium 3 proves one thing to me: Riley is building a world, a world where she knows exactly what she’s doing, and which is as engrossing as The Walking Dead or any other zombie apocalypse.” -Ken Mooney, Amazon.com
“It’s the little things, really, presented without much fanfare, a delicate devastation that catches you unaware and hits you with major force that makes Claire C. Riley’s third book in the Odium Dead saga series so good. Peppered with humour, heartbreak, hope, horror, and sadness, Odium III is an awesome read and I have fallen into another book coma.” –JGud, Amazon.com
“Claire Riley has the ability to hook you with such an awesome display of descriptive ability. Her strength resides in her talent at making you hear, see, feel, and smell everything that her heroine Nina encounters. You would be gravely mistaken if you think this might be some “Harlequin Horror”. Oh no. This is the real deal with grit, violence, and all of the nastiness (in the best way possible) that you want from a horror/zombie tale.” –TW Brown, Goodreads

Take a snapshot… of the DEAD! Author TW Brown Releases Newest Installment in Dead Series
Amazon: Purchase Paperback!| Kindle to follow!
Catch up on the series!: Boxed Set
Behind the curtain of the DEAD: Snapshot {your town here} series
THE DEAD WALK!
You sort of dream about that headline. Admit it. You watch shows like The Walking Dead and think, That would be SO cool! Would it really? I want you to bring your own arm up to your mouth and bite as hard as you can. Now keep going until you rip the flesh. (In the interest of our sue happy culture, I am not really suggesting that you do this, and if you already did then can I ask what in the hell is wrong with you?)
Sohow cool is it now? And then there is the idea of finding a loved one who had the misfortune of not heeding the warnings and got bit trying to hurry home to take care of you. They are coming at you with filmed over, dead eyes. So grab a gun or something and shoot or bash them in the head. Oh yeah, that includes your precious little Jimmy or Janie. You know, that apple of your eyethe one thing that you love more than life itself.
Not sounding so great anymore, is it?
The reality of the zombie apocalypse is probably more terrifying than we want to imagine. However, reading about it is a blast. On that, I think many of us can agree. Only, when you read these stories, dont they always seems so far away and remote? Unless you have a local zombie author who loves to set his novels in his or her (and by extensionYOUR) neck of the woods, you have to imagine places you have never been and hope to sink into the story enough to feel like you are there.
Well, wait no more. With my new spin off of my successful and best-selling zombie series DEAD, the apocalypse can be right outside your own front door. How? I will tell you later. You dont think I am gonna give you ALL the good stuff right off the bat, now do ya?
My new series is titled DEAD: Snapshot{insert town here}. Okay that last little bit is just the generic filler. To be clear, the first book is titled DEAD: SnapshotPortland, Oregon. I set it in my town because it is someplace that I know pretty well. However, the next book is titled DEAD: SnapshotLeeds, England. Never been there, but with the help of Google, I can get down to street level and walk about from the comfort of my computer.
Each of these books will be a stand-alone novel set in the mythology that I built in the DEAD series. Some of them may see guest appearances by characters that you know and love or hate from DEAD. You dont have to be a reader of the series to enjoy or understand the book. It is zombie fiction, not Twin Peaks. For those totally unfamiliar, my zombies are like those found in Romero flicks. Still confused? (I weep for you, but I will clarify.) The Walking Dead. You know, basically slow and not all that coordinated. I do have a few twists in my mythology that differs from the norm. While I wont state it as a fact, I had not read (in my VERY EXTENSIVE reading) any instances where the bite was not a catalyst for somebody to turn. Also, children of the younger age bracket might behave just a bit differently. I dont want to spoil anything, so I will leave it at that and let you discover for yourself why my series has allowed me to be a writer full-time and quit my day job.
So, how do you get zombies to come wipe out your town (or maybe the town of an ex, or somebody that you just really dont like), so to speak? Simple. All you have to do is send me an email at twbrown.maydecpub@gmail.com with I WANT TO SEE THE DEAD TAKE MY TOWN! in the subject line. From there, in the actual email, tell me where you are from. Tell me a little bit about your town and what makes it special. Feel free to offer your own name up for use as a character. You are even free to give me a description or photo that I can use to design this character. I even let you specify if you wish to be hero or villain. Sorry, no promises that you will survive in any case, and your characters depiction may be NOTHING like you in manner and action. It will simply carry your name into the annals of zombie apocalypse history.
Soare you interested? Curious? Or maybe you really dislike those snobs over in Shelbyville? (Simpsons referencesorry.) Well, you now have the power of life, death, and undeath in your hands. What will you do?
Behind the veil- an insider’s look at TW Brown & his works.
Welcome to the Bring-the-zombie-apocalypse-to-my-town tour2015 edition.
W hen did the whole zombie thing start for me?
At age 14, I saw the original Dawn of the Dead in its theatrical release. When the girl two rows ahead of me blew chunks into her popcorn during the opening scene at the low-rent apartmentsI was hooked. Seriously, what could be cooler when you are a fourteen-year-old boy than to see some Farrah wanna-be let loose with the liquid laughter? But as the movie went on, I was just sucked into that entire world. I had yet to see Night of the Living Dead at that point.
What is the last zombie book that I read?
I just wrapped up Contamination (Books 0-3) by T. W. Piperbrook. I am a firm believer in knowing what is out there in the genre. I hear some people (when asked if they wouldnt mind giving my books a read) say that they dont want to read it and then steal an idea. I have so many problems with that answer. For one, we are all standing on the shoulders of Romero for the most part. And if you dont read, then you WILL become stagnant as a writer. Ive read plenty of stories and never once stolen an idea. Now, I will say that I have been inspired by some as well as seen things that I felt did not work and, thus, should be avoided. However, my stories are my own, and despite any outside inspiration, it is me putting the words down.

What makes my story stand out from the masses?
I believe that it is the depth of characters. The zombies are really just part of the backdrop. I think that I introduce real people who live with the consequences of their actions. There is no reset button, no do-overs. That is also why none of my characters are safe. More than one of my primary characters has fallen over the course of the story. I believe that gives the reader a sense of hanging on to the edge of their seat simply because they understand that nobody is safe.
What will I tackle next? (If you are writing a series, what will you write after the series is over?)
Well, this is actually the spin off from my DEAD series (which only has two books left in the series proper).
Worst reaction I have received about my writing?
Besides the death threats and hate mail that I receive due to the Garrett McCormick character? I have heard it all. I am a hack, unoriginal, Max Brooks, Robert Kirkman, or Mark Tufo do it better. Blah-blah-blah. I would say that for me, it is not the negative reviews or fans of other writers that strikes me as the worst reaction. People like what they like and loyalty is a funny thing. My issue comes from my fellow writers who pound the pavement asking for readers and reviewers (of which I can say that I have been one for many of them) and the lack of reciprocation. That bothers me a bit. It is a toss-up between that and having somebody ask what I do for a living or find out that I am a writer and then have them ask what I write. When I say that I have a couple of zombie series out, they sort of look away and utter, Ohmkay, well see ya. Or something to that effect.
And on the flip side, what is the bestthe one that almost embarrassed you it was so effusive?
I have a reader who is on her death bed, she is in treatment and has a short prognosis, survives day to day on morphine. Let me share a portion of her first email (there have been others since, but this first one dropped me):
Dear Todd Brown,
Just to say thanks – yourZombloghas got me through the first two weeks of living with my new best friends – morphine patches.
I’ve got a life-limiting condition with a side order of physical disability – that’s the hand I’ve been dealt, and fortunately, I’ve got the disposition to cope with it.
I’ve got great family & friends & the NHS & voluntary work in my community (I’m Jewish) – we should all be so lucky.
Your writing – how ordinary people deal with a 24/7 nightmare – has been a great comfort.
Morphine has left a vacuum where my fizz & whizz used to be – I thought I was prepared for ‘feeling weird‘.
But I didn’t expect to feel MIA.
Reading has always been my lifeline – distracting me from pain, when nothing else can.
Some writers sweep me up into their world and onto their timeline –
You’re one of those writers.
Thank you for your words.
What do you say to that? Thank you? That feels so inadequate.
If any of my work was to be made into a film, which piece, and who is THE big star I would love to see in the leading role?
I honestly thing that the DEAD series is to epic for a decent screen treatment. Zomblog might go over well, and I would really dig seeing it brought to cable. That Ghoul Ava is actually where I have my screen dreams pinned. And I would love to see Famke Janssen as Ava. That would be sweet. Also, I have no idea where she would fitmaybe as Morgan, but Alyson Hannigan is probably my biggest Hollywood crushher and Jennifer Anniston, but Jen seems to crash and burn in every single relationshipthat is a warning flag. I hate high maintenance women. I am high maintenance enough and dont need the hassle.
What is the scariest movie I have ever seen?
I saw The Exorcist when I was supposed to be in seeing a certain Disney movie about a baby deer. I was just a wee tyke and that movie scared me silly. To this day, despite desensitization and everything else, that movie still chills my blood. The Captain Howdy flash image makes me nearly pee.
What is something about me that would surprise your fans?
Besides that last bit? Maybe that my wife calls me The Animal Whisperer. I seem to have a way with our furry and feathered friends. I have a rescue Umbrella Cockatoo as our newest family member and am slowly coaxing him out of his shell so that he can be the loud and loving bird that Toos are known to be. That is in addition to my two Border Collies, the African Grey that adores my wife and sees me as the parentin other words, no fun. (Although she does love to play this game where she creeps up on me and as soon as I notice her, she scoots away.)
What is in your to be read pile right now?
Too many titles to list, but I always look for suggestions from other lovers of the genre.

Thicker Than Blood | Claire C Riley & Madeline Sheehan | COMING JANUARY 15TH !!
Sheehan & Riley
COMING JANUARY 15TH!!
True friendship never dies.
Leisel and Evelyn lost everything. Husbands. Families. Friends. Lives that mad sense. All they had left was each other, and a friendship that could withstand anything
Even an apocalypse.
Until one fateful night, the marginal safety theyd come to rely on comes to a vicious and brutal end. With the help of Alex and Jami, both unlikely allies, Leisel and Evelyn are able to escape their shattered sanctuary only to find themselves face-to-face with a much altered, much crueler life where they have to find the wayand the willto stay alive in a world they no longer recognize.
Traveling across a broken and infection-ridden country; the road-weary group are pitted against endless violence, improbable circumstances, and the ultimate loss.
Everything comes at a priceespecially safety, the cost of which could very well strip them of the one thing theyve tried so hard to cling to: their humanity.
Yet along with all the trials theyre forced to endure, theres also hope in the form of love. Having loved Leisel from afar, Alex attempts putting the pieces of her fractured heart back together. But in such a savage world, is there room for love?
In a place of nightmares-made-reality, where the living should be feared far more than the dead, an unbreakable friendship and a love amongst all odds can mean the difference between life and death.

My Review!
**FIVE STARS**
Gut punch after gut punch with instances of love and levity. Thicker Than Blood was the kind of book that leaves you with a particular type of PTRD (post traumatic reading disorder) after the ending, with your eyes wide and needing time to recover. Theres hope though, a little glimmer among the angst and heartbreak.
I always go into a Riley book with certain preconceptions of quality & craft. Unfamiliar with Sheehans work, I was unsure how the combination of styles and skills would affect my history with Rileys writing. Ive been burned before by co-writing; when you dive into a new book by your favorite author (co-written) and realize that the composition is changed, different, not reflective of the originally loved authors something special that drew you into their works in the first place. But sometimes, melding two minds together can create something unique and magnetic in its own right. Something both tragic and epically beautiful.
This is the case of the combination of Riley and Sheehan. And that fact pleases me to no end (because it was these two authors objective to please me particularly, right? Who else would they have strived for so diligently to create a piece so pleasing?). These two authors have come together so seamlessly that it’s nearly impossible to tell who wrote what; a feat that can only becompared to the innovationof the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Each turn of the page brings on a new element, a new dimension, something unexpected and light years away from clich and trite. As a reader, you will find yourself rooting for the characters- experiencing a medley of despair and triumph in equal measure. These feelings stem from my personal investment in the book and characters; trademark of a book that goes beyond the norm into something truly special.
With excellent world-building, character-crafting, and storyline, Thicker Than Blood will get under your skin. When that happens, when a book truly touches you in the deepest part of your soul, youre irrevocably changed. I cannot speak with higher praise about this book. I cannot adequately describe the ending and the chills it gave me, the small ache in my chest as if I were the Grinch with the expanding heart, a chorus of Whos in the background.
Thicker than Blood embodies the essence of humanity, friendship, and perseverance. I cannot wait to have it in hard copy, sitting on my shelf, waiting for me to return and re-read the story of two best friends and true loyalty.
A little birdy told me the duo are already working on the sequel to their co-debut. Ill be the first in cyber-line to pick it up, devour it, and wait impatiently for a third offering by Riley and Sheehan.

5 Star Review of Limerence 2!
You never know what to expect after an author’s debut.
Can they keep up the momentum and continuously improve? OR will they be a one-hit wonder?
Claire C Riley has proven time and time again that she has the chops for great writing. She pulls her readers deep into the worlds she creates, making them visualize and experience landscapes, sympathize with characters, and mourn when a beloved person perishes at her more-than-adept and murderously typing fingers.
I’ve followed this author from the beginning- before her debut was even published- and I knew she had something unique and definitive staying power.
Still, I wondered what her debut’s sequel would be like. How far had she come since its publication? Would she carry over details, stay consistent, or abandon the original ideas of her debut to create something completely left field.
Surprisingly, she did both of these things- retaining key details and the ‘feel’ of the original, while also creating a book that feels entirely new, fresh and with a standalone personality.
Readers will learn to accept new characters while still remembering the old (poor Oliver) throughout the beginning of the text, and then, towards the middle, readers will begin to feel like the old never existed, like this life, this book, was the one meant for Mia and her journey away from humanity, towards humanity, and ultimately away from it again- into a darkness beyond her control, a darkness called Maya.
Riley’s characters are realistic and engaging. The details in the book are original yet familiar. Limerence II can honestly be said to incorporate the best of traditional vampire lore with the wide-open imagination of the author, which is something I can respect. It’s not a re-hashing, it’s a re-imagining. And, like one other fan said some time ago- ‘No one does vampires like Claire C Riley’. And that’s because the only thing that sparkles in this book is the author’s wit (and the champagne-flavored blood served up in the coven cafeteria).
So crack open a bottle of red, settle down, and drink it in. Straight from the author’s veins, warm and toasty, Limerence II is an absolute treat for the senses.

COVER REVEAL! | Claire C Riley’s Limerence 2
Limerence 2
The long anticipated sequel to Claire C Riley’s debut- Limerence- is finally in the works!
Claire’s posted some lovely sneak peek/poster combos stirring up some buzz for the release and let me say, I have yet to be disappointed with these little teasers. They make me want to re-read the first, so I’m ready to sink my less-than-sharp canines into Mia’s continuation story. (And check out that cover- because I’m sure as shoot’n intrigued about this Maya character listed in the lower heart).
The first taste is always best, but sometimes… re-reading a book like Limerence 1 makes it even tastier.
And now… that oh-so-sexy cover!

Armand Rosamilia | Authors are People | DYING DAYS 4
Armand Rosamilia
Author Superhero with Over 120 Releases, Radio DJ Extraordinaire, Good Samaritan (Authors Supporting Our Troops)
Armand celebrates the release of his 4th installment in his Dying Days Series!
Over 120 releases. The latest is Dying Days 4 in the continuing zombie series (Find on Amazon). Praise for DD4: “I got an advanced reading copy of Dying Days 4. Here’s my honest reaction: I read it all in one evening and had a great time! The pace is fast. The characters are fun though the story has some genuinely scary elements. My favorite character isn’t Darlene, though. I loved the villain. Any enemy that’s so difficult to defeat makes for great heroes and challenging plots. The author is really working here to do something more with zombies than you might expect. I love clever zombie stories with depth. This has that, plus jokes. Best of all for me was the funny dialogue. I like the sense of humor here very much. Looking forward to delving into this series more now that I’ve read #4.” 5* Review on Amazon.
About Armand: Armand Rosamilia is a New Jersey boy currently living in sunny Florida, where he exacts revenge on his enemies and neighbors alike by writing them into his Dying Days zombie series. And not in good ways. He has over 120 releases to date, with more coming. He is also a radio and internet DJ and runs Arm Cast: Dead Sexy Horror Podcast, with interviews from the best authors, etc. in horror. He loves talking in third person.

Fun Facts About Armand!
1. My name is actually Armando. Family name, first male was always named Armando. I have a cousin Armand Rosamilia on Facebook everyone is always assuming is my secondary or fake account. Kinda funny. I’m much better looking. And my son’s name is James. So there.
2. I would consider myself lazy. I hate doing more than eating and sitting at my desk writing. But I do get dragged out of the house by Special Gal every Tuesday night for a bowling league. I’m not really all that good, but I enjoy the other people on my team and opponents, and I’ve been breaking 100 scores like mad lately.
3. I recently got engaged to Special Gal, who has been so super supportive of my career and letting me sit around in my Big Bang Theory sleep-pants and write instead of doing anything else.
4. The only vice I have is coffee, and recently Death Wish Coffee is the only thing I’ll drink. I’ve been spoiled. It is awesome. I even bought one of their baseball caps to wear. I’m hooked.
5. I have a Bucket List in my head, but it is filled with stuff I will NOT do before I die: skydive, climb a big mountain, smoke pot or do any illegal drug, a triathlon, helicopter ride, have another pet, ride Space Mountain… still working on this list. Someday I’ll write it down.
6. I am a huge Marvel Comic fan (total geek) and not a fan of DC Comics, including most of the movies out. Make mine Marvel.
7. I want to kick the redhead in the Wendy’s food commercials in her uterus.
8. I love Jennifer Aniston chick flicks, which makes Special Gal go bleh whenever I watch them.
9. I hardly ever watch horror movies, especially slasher or really violent ones. I prefer documentaries and watching Red Sox games over anything else.
10. If I see blood in real life I usually pass out.
11. I’ve been blessed with being able to do several things on my life’s wish list: manage bands and meet many music heroes, write a book about wrestling and go behind the scenes, be in a music video, travel all over the country and parts of Europe on a record company’s dime, have my own radio show on FM and one online, start a podcast, travel for many conventions for writing, write movie adaptations and screenplays to get my books made into movies, and become a full-time author. Living the dream. But if I still had things to add to the list? Maybe having a part in a movie. Narrating audiobooks. Meet Kerry King from SLAYER. Lunch with Oprah.
12. I have a crazy amount of wax buildup in my ears. Every day I am constantly cleaning them out and adding drops and running the shower water into them.
13. I want to learn how to play guitar. Not acoustic. I want to wail on an electric guitar at home, when no one else is around. I want to play Pantera and Billy Squier and Iron Maiden songs for my own amusement.
Thanks for reading! Be sure to check out Armand’s work!

The Breadwinner Trilogy (Books 1 & 2)
Blurb: The end of the world is not glamorous. In a matter of days the human race was reduced to nothing more than vicious, flesh hungry creatures. This three part story takes you into the world of the survivors, coming from different generations and different sides of the tracks, they all share one thing in common: who you once were can no longer determine who you will be in the face of catastrophe. Samson, a once wealthy and powerful criminal defense attorney struggles to keep his family safe and keep his sanity intact when the world comes apart at the seams. Veronica, the high school track star races to get her brother out of the city and into the safety of Franklin Woods. Along the way we come across the struggles of finding solace, finding out who you really are, and making decisions in a post apocalyptic world. The Breadwinner is a three part story and the first book in a planned series that will leave you craving more.
Blurb: The end of the world is not glamorous. The survivors of The Breadwinner have barely escaped the clutches of the undead and are headed into the unknown, continuing their never ending search for solace in the post-apocalyptic landscape they were suddenly thrust into. The city of Haven, once a paradise for the living, but now crawling with the flesh hungry creatures they try so hard to elude, could be their only chance. Resume your post-apocalyptic survival adventure with Veronica, Samson and Ben as they struggle with hope and loss, and as they battle the futility of existence. Take on a new experience as you find yourself once more at the beginning, thrown into the depths of the end of the world with new survivors. Join Michelle and Lulu, ordinary women faced with extraordinary obstacles on their devastating journey and the pursuit of sanctuary in a world collapsed. Haven continues the story of The Breadwinner with the addition of new territory, new characters, and new complications. The second book in The Breadwinner Trilogy will leave you stunned and bloodthirsty for the conclusion of the series. Who you once were still does not determine who you will become in the face of catastrophe, especially in Haven.

Book 1, The Breadwinner, was released in July 2013 and Book 2, Haven was released in February of 2014. She currently resides in Panama City Beach, Florida and tries to spend as much time as she can in the sun. Fun Facts about Stevie!
I’m a sales manager by day and an author by night…or whatever other time that I’m not at my real job…I typically work 50+ hours
I have two dogs, Sidney, a greyhound/lab mix, and Fedor, a yorkie. They are my lazy babies.
If I’m not writing, I’m obsessively playing video games
3 of my 9 tattoos are video game related; 2 from Bioshock and 1 from Fallout
I am the managing editor and also a writer for the website HorrorMetalSounds.com
I absolutely love to read and I do reviews for The Bookie Monster
I hold the secret to time travel and life’s pause button, that’s how I manage to accomplish all that I do on a daily basis
All of my characters in my books are named after characters from video games
I love to sing and I have been in quite a few bands over the years. I plan on releasing a book later this year called “Life, Lyrically”, a collection of all the songs I’ve written
I am a complete and total Disney Freak and I make it a point to go to Disney AT LEAST once a year.
I was raised a Seattle Seahawks fan and I cried like a baby when they won the Super Bowl this year
I love the fact that I’m a Jersey Girl living in Florida, I’ll always be a Jersey Girl, I love where I’m from and where I grew up, I still love to visit….but there is not enough money in the whole world that you could pay me to move back.
I donate money in people’s names to worthy causes at Christmas time instead of buying gifts
There are two things worse than an apocalyptic scenario that could happen to me…no more coffee, and no more wine
Stevie Kopas encompasses the dedication it takes to make it in the Indie Author world- the ‘stick to it’ attitude that motivates her to work 50+ hour weeks and then spend every night type, type, typing away on her laptop to create stories that captivate and entertain her readers, showing the apocalypse from her unique and sometimes rough-edged perspective (with a carry-through that shines in her formatting and clean edits). I’ve only read a sample of her first two books in the Breadwinner Trilogy, but I plan to delve in deeper and enjoy Kopas as a proficient, prophetic author.
Wednesday, the blog will host author Armand Rosamilia, a hell of a guy I’m proud to know.
