Norma Jeane photographed by Richard C. Miller in April 1946. He was one of the last few photographers who worked with her while she still went by her birth name. In July 1946, after meetings with Ben Lyon at Twentieth Century Fox, she was given a contract and began going by the name Marilyn Monroe. It wouldn’t be until a decade later, in March 1956, that she would legally change her name to Marilyn Monroe.
