Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, Newsletters…what social media do you use and how do you use it? What don’t you use, and why not? Any advice for those in a quandary?
by Paul D. Marks
I use a variety of social media, but not just to market my books. It’s also to keep in touch with people. And it’s my “watercooler,” since I work at home and don’t have a real watercooler to gather round with fellow employees or writers to shoot the breeze.

Clearly, I blog. Right? Here with the Minds and also with Femmes Fatales (CLICK HERE). It's about four blogs a month. Except it's not. Because one of the lovely things about having so many pals in this community is that someone I like as a person and admire as a writer is always on a blog tour for a new book a...

Get With It - by RM Greenaway
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, Newsletters…what social media do you use and how do you use it? What don’t you use, and why not? Any advice for those in a quandary?
Facebook: I get overwhelmed in a crowd where much is going on, even if it’s a virtual crowd, and that’s Facebook. I’ve tried to get to love it -- as most people do, for good reason -- but still haven’t mastered the art. Unlike a knight on a charging steed, I tend to walk away from things that make me fret, which includes most...

Hello Out There?
Q: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, Newsletters…what social media do you use and how do you use it? Any advice for those in a quandary?
- from Susan
My answer is I have no advice. I have no data that’s any use, no anecdotes that would steer anyone in the right direction, and no reports from other authors that I can cite.
As for newsletters, Louise Penny has the newsletter to end all newsletters, one I always read because it sounds like Louise, warm, honest, and personal. Does it sell h...

Guest Post by Hector Acosta
I'll be busy with traveling while writing for a while, so I turned to a new voice for a guest post this week.
Hector Acosta was born in Mexico City and moved to the United States. His time living on the border left an impression on him, and much of his writing revolves around that area and its people. In his free time he enjoys watching wrestling and satisfying a crippling Lego addiction. He is the author of HARDWAY
, published by Down & Out Books.
Thanks, Hector!

LOW DOWN DIRTY VOTE
From Jim
In recognition of Mysti Berry’s brainchild and labor of love, LOW DOWN DIRTY VOTE, I’ve decided to freestyle it once again this week and talk about this important new collection of stories. Apologies to Dietrich for posting this one day early. But since today is the publication day, and our nation’s birthday, I took the LIBERTY...

Work in progress
Share the earliest/a really early photo you have of yourself with us, and tell us what it means to you personally and – if it does – in terms of your writing.
by Dietrich Kalteis
I don’t have a suitable early photo on hand, but I have a few memories of wanting to be a writer. I loved reading from an early age and the images it created in my mind. And I loved spinning my own stories too. In my early teens I penned a first draft of a novel. I can’t remember much about it, just that I kept its ha...

Keep it simple
By R.J. Harlick
My apologies, but I have only just realized I was looking at the wrong date for this week’s question, so I have inadvertently answered next week’s. Alas it is too late to change, so here goes.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, Newsletters…what social media do you use and how do you use it? What don’t you use, and why not? Any advice for those in a quandary?
There are a lot, aren’t there? Too many for me. It’s hard to keep on top of all the latest and greatest ways...
