JumpStart YOUR INDIVIDUALITY

Rapper Emenem wrote a lyric about his success, “I thought I was winning the lottery but it turned out I was winning a ‘used me.’” “Be yourself” is much easier said than done especially given our penchant for following others.

Breaking Free – 8/31/2014 (Dharma Talk)

Click here to view the embedded video.

Getting ourselves to do what we know to be in our best interest is often very difficult. This is not a new phenomenon. The apostle Paul struggled with the same issue in the New Testament.

Find out why it’s so hard to break free from doing what other people are doing and yet how vital it is to do just that!

Enjoy Today,

Will

JumpStart YOUR AUDIENCE

It doesn’t matter how talented the performer is, if she is playing to the wrong audience, she will never be a success. Who is your audience? In the various roles that you play, who are you playing to?

JumpStart YOUR iCAN

When you leave the house today, remember your iPad, iPhone and iPod but, whatever you do, don’t forget to bring your “iCan.” When you say, “I can” do something, it’s amazing how quickly you prove yourself right.

JumpStart YOUR MIRROR NEURONS

Click here to view the embedded video.

In “I am the Walrus,” John Lennon wrote, “I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.” We are all the same, yes, but more than that— we are connected at a subatomic level by neurons that mirror the feelings another person is having. Learn to use this innate ability to become even closer to others.

Just behind some dead wood, there is an amazing view if you’ll but do some trimming.

JumpStart PROBLEMS

Click here to view the embedded video.

The first definition of the word “problem” is, “a question that needs to be resolved or answered.” A problem is NOT a weight we’re supposed to schlepp around. It is something to be questioned, answered and resolved. Consider what YOU call problems. What problems do you have? What questions are you dealing with that you call ‘problems’?

DAY 14

10305517_10152253013419147_8856192319613526961_nDAY 14. That’s 14 consecutive days without complaining and I’m discovering that, sometimes, you just have to get “busy.”

By that I mean, when people around you start to complain and you sense them expecting you to join in on their bitch session, glance at your watch, or phone, or a clock on the wall and exclaim, “Wow, look at the time!” Then, walk briskly and purposefully away. They will think you are busy when in reality, you’ve just created the misdirection of a great magician who then exists the stage unscathed by the toxicity of group complaining.

There’s an old saying, “If you hang around a barber shop long enough, you’re going to get a haircut. Well, if you hang around people griping long enough, ultimately, you will join in. If complaining starts, point at the clock, say, “Wow, look at the time” and then, just like at the movies, walk quickly and safely to the nearest exit.

Thank you, Robin Williams

Click here to view the embedded video.

The comedic/actors passing has caused us to feel a collective grief as well as subtly disquieted about the benefits of wealth and fame. In this video, Will thanks the man who made us laugh, made us cry and then left us, suddenly, so that we might discuss issues of real significance.

My fondest memory of Robin Williams was his appearance in the video for “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” What is your favorite memory of Robin Williams? Subscribe to my YouTube channel NOW to receive daily JumpStarts and more!

Enjoy today.
