Much Has Been Sung

Much has been sung

Of women young

And middle-aged men who knew

Better, yet themselves flung

At the feet

Of maidens far from discreet …

So when I meet

Girls with high-heeled feet

I think with delight

Of the hot night,

Then sigh for that can not be,

For I am growing old you see …

The Wise

“It was a mistake when, in 1962
Jamaica became independent from you”,
She said.
I moved not my head
But sat thinking on the wise
Who tell
And dispel
Lies.

Today is not hot

Today is not Hot.
Ought I to confess my thought?
Ought I not?

The day is cold
But the grave is colder yet.
Would I regret
Where I to be bold
And unfold
My thought?
Ought I? Ought I not?

In the final sleep there is neither cold
Nor hot.
The day is cold,
Should I be bold?
Or not?

YES BLIND PEOPLE READ BOOKS, WE WRITE THEM TOO

Campbells World

Yes, Blind People Read Books. We Write Them, Too.

Hello readers everywhere.

First, I’d like you to read this. Then, I dare you to share it.

It is about time someone adjusted the attitudes of many.

Yes, Blind People Read Books. We Write Them, Too.

Laurie Alice Eakes  Reprinted from the HUFFINGTON POST

“Windy, let’s get some coffee,” I suggested, in need of an iced latte.

My Seeing Eye dog swerved right, tension through the harness  increasing as she skirted a corral of ou...

A Lady Who’s Name Is Brass

A lady who’s name is Brass

Has a heart fragile as glass.

When I criticised her art

Her tears did start

And her friends all called me crass!

Is there a difference as regards “reading” and “listening” to a book?

I was somewhat taken back when, several weeks ago, I heard an item on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme concerning reading. This short piece (which I have, unfortunately been unable to find online), consisted of a series of viewpoints as to what constitutes reading and, in particular whether listening to audio books can be construed as reading in the true sense of the word. One listener expressed the view that listening to audio books was not reading, and that anyone who said that they had read a bo...
