A Young Lady Whose Conduct Was Truly Licentious
A young lady whose conduct was truly licentious
Said, “my friends they all think me pretentious!
I have sheets of pure satin
And my cries are in latin.
And my lovers they all find me licentious!”.
Departed
I consider myself sane.
So must
Not call your name.
For you are beyond dusk,
And sun.
And rain.
But, where I to say,
In my old, familiar way,
“Trigger”. Would you come
In a run
To your name,
Through the sun, and rain?

When A Man By The Name Of Paul
When a man by the name of Paul
Said, “I have seen many an empire fall.
And I have a burning desire
For that inocent young lady Moriah”.
I said, “Moriah, she fell long ago Paul!”.
A Review of My Collection of Poetry, “Light and Shade”
I was delighted to receive the following review of my collection of poems, “Light and Shade: Serious (and Not So Serious) Poems” on Goodreads:
“A good little book of poems, some humorous and others more for contemplation. A lot of the funny ones had me chuckling to myself.”

The Moat
In the post office I stood
With you.
When someone, I know not who,
Reached out to stroke
You.
The moat
‘Twixt sleep
And endless dream
Is not as deep
As it often does seem.

Strawberries and Cream
Last night I dreamed a strange dream
About strawberries and lashings of fresh cream.
All the young women
Said no to sinning.
But gave in to strawberries and cream.
—
Last night I dreamed a strange dream
About strawberries and lashings of fresh cream.
All the young women
Said no to sinning.
And the vicar fell into the cream!
K Morris reading his poem ‘Dog Bed’.
On 2nd September I wrote about the sad death of my guide dog Trigger, which can be found here: https://kmorrispoet.com/2020/09/02/trigger/
I have now recorded my poem ‘Dog Bed’, which was written in memory of Trigger.
DOG BED
The mark
Of your teeth is still there,
On your old dog bed.
I walk in the park,
Where
The dead
Leaves lie.
Shadows on the grass
Mistook for an old friend.
All things pass,
However much we pretend
Otherwise. You closed your eyes,
And left your mark
Upon my heart.
Be...

Pat
A young lady whose name is Pat
Sent me a message using her WhatsApp.
She called me “sweet honey”,
And asked me for money.
And I’ve never seen a photograph like that!
