Mountaineering

Beautiful mountains, their peaks pointing to the sky.

I would die

for the chance to climb

That track sublime.

Would that I could sally

Into the verdant valley

That nessles between

Those hills green.

Oh to drink from the life giving stream,

Which does flow

Where few may go.

I can but dream.

Revolution By A E Housman

West and away the wheels of darkness roll,

Day’s beamy banner up the east is borne,

Spectres and fears, the nightmare and her foal,

Drown in the golden deluge of the morn.

But over sea and continent from sight

Safe to the Indies has the earth conveyed

The vast and moon-eclipsing cone of night,

Her towering foolscap of eternal shade.

See, in mid heaven the sun is mounted; hark,

The belfries tingle to the noonday chime.

‘Tis silent, and the subterranean dark

Has crossed the nadir, and begins to...

October 2015

A weak sun.

Day is almost done.

We have had our fun.

Soon the dark will come.

Looking Inside

Don’t look into another’s mind
For you may find
A fiend
Who stalks your dream.
You may discern a hole
Where the soul
Should be.
Perhaps it is better you can not see.
Do you possess the art
To look into your own heart?
To confront the demons who scheme
And haunt your dream?
The countenance pleasant may seem
But what goes on behind the screen?

Cold

drewdog2060drewdog2060:

This is powerful writing. The reference to the ledge speaks to me of thoughts of suicide as does that to the 22nd floor but that is merely my interpretation. Kevin

You cried out my name but no one heard.

Riding

Her leather jacket.

Can she hack it?

Pack it

in

that leads to sin.

A riding crop.

Will he stop?

The horse

May run his course.

Force of circumstance

Or chance

Sees matters advance.

Her mount strides

but who rides

whom

as they canter through the gloom?

Aesop’s Fables

Waiters at tables,

hear fabulous fables.

Wine turns to water,

shehe is his daughter?

They don’t look alike,

perhaps it’s the light?

They prefer it so,

the lamp turned low.

Hey ho,

Couples come and go,

Discussing Aesop’s fables,

With those who wait at tables.

A Review Of “More Than Best Friends”, An Anthology To Raise Money For Guide Dogs

Early this year a group of authors, including myself, came together to produce “More Than Best Friends”, an anthology in aid of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (GDBA). All funds go directly to GDBA with no monies being received by the authors.

I was delighted when Olivia Emily of Bibliomad kindly agreed to write an honest review of “More Than Best Friends” in exchange for a free copy of the book. For Olivia’s review please visit the following link, https://bibliomad.wordpress.com/201...
