My Violin
A young lady known as Lin
Likes to play on my violin.
The pianist, Miss White
Brings such sweet delight.
And my neighbours complain of sin!

A Poem From My Archives
You left your shoes behind
And it still occupies my mind.
You were neither white nor black,
And there is no turning back
For those shoes you left behind,
Which still occupy my mind.
Your accent was upper class
But, somewhere along the line
Fine
Metal
Did settle
For brass.
You left your shoes behind
And they still occupy my mind.
It is rarely white or black.
And the way
To a brass tack
Is easier than some say.

My Local Laundrette
A most helpful young lady named Yvette
Has a job in my local laundrette.
A kindly old friar
Lives in a dryer,
Where he’s dried by that helpful Yvette.
When My Dear Friend the Beautiful Miss Hocking
When my dear friend, the beautiful Miss Hocking
Came round to mine wearing fine silk stockings,
The old vicar looked aghast
And said, “in the past,
Young ladies would wear more than just stockings!”.

Pete and Claire
Whilst walking along a famous old Street
I met with my old friend Pete.
When he said, “today I’m Claire”.
I said, “rhyming poets should beware!
As Claire does not rhyme with Pete!”.
Miss Flo
I know a young lady named Flo
Who’s morals are more than just low.
But I must in honesty confess
She’s not as bad as Bess.
Who I also just happen to know …
