Moral Kate

When a moral young lady named Kate
Said, “you are a wicked old reprobate!”,
My friend Miss Honey
Said, “he has money!”,
And I quickly moved in with Kate!

Miss Brown Who Spends Most of Her Time Upside-down

I know a young lady named Brown
Who spends most of her time up-side-down.
She finds it real sweet
When you tickle her feet,
But not when you tickle her crown!

Late Night Working

I met a young lady named White
Who walks the streets late at night.
Her friend Miss Yvette
Asked for a cigarette,
But I never smoke late at night!

Sunlight

The sunlight dances
Through windblown branches
On a late December day.
Let us stay,
And smile while we may.

You May Hold

You may hold
A maiden fair
With cold gold.
But empty air
Beckons the second
The gold goes.

A Young Lady Wearing Only One Boot

A young lady wearing only one boot
Has great skill in playing the flute.
Her right foot, being bare
She waves in the air,
As she kicks me with her boot!

The Sweeper of Leaves

The sweeper of leaves
Sweeps at all hours.
He takes new flowers.
And sometimes he leaves
Half-dead leaves, which quiver,
And wish to wither
Away. And we say
“Why take blooming flowers
When half-dead leaves stay?”
He sweeps at all hours.
All meet him one day.

Winter’s Bleak Weather

You will fly
Home today
From far away
And I
May give in
To sin
In winter’s bleak weather.

I am no saint.
The idea is quaint
In these modern times.
But does Man’s pleasure
In composing rhymes
To slim young women
Equate to sin?

My Old Wardrobe

When a young lady named Wang
Out of my old wardrobe sprang
My friend Miss June
Struck up a tune,
And my neighbours they sweetly sang!
