Door Closes on the Open Book
Ever wanted to run your own bookshop? Read this blog post and find out about an author who did just that. Amazing. I fear I am too indolent to follow suit, but you never know.
The End of A Chapter and the Start of Another
We’ve been home now for four days. Our stint as booksellers-in-residence at the Open Book second hand bookshop is now over for the husband and me. It was a great adventure. We hope we’ve left the Open Book slightly tidier and...

Improving the reputation of indies #wwwblogs #self-publishing #indieauthors
A thoughtful blog which contains much sound advice for ALL AUTHORS
I was rather overwhelmed by the reaction to last week’s post regarding self-publishing and the snobbery that some have towards it. You can read the post here. The many comments made showed that, despite many stories of self-publishing success, some writers are still treated as if what they do isn’t ‘proper’ writing. Self-publishing obviously hasn’t shrugged off its reputation for poor writing and edit...

Bloggy McBlogface #3 – Culloden
This summer I spent a month touring Scotland, getting the vibe for my fourth novel which I am currently 87% of the way through. It was a fabulous holiday and I was able to touch base with friends, en route. The weather behaved itself while we were in Inverness and so, feeling ‘gallus’, we erectedthe awning and put out our sunloungers.
sunloungers getting an airing at Banchory, Royal Deeside.
On this stretch of our road trip we planned to visit Culloden, Loch Ness and Castle Urq...

The 6th of October saw the ebook release of The Christmas Promise and #MyPromise is that the morning passed in a blur of social media activity. Although I’m a touch typist and once worked as a copy taker on a sports paper (i.e. I type quickly) I could hardly keep up with Twitter.
The blog tour had begun, the first reviews wer...

Meeting the Authors – Part Deux!
The way social media helps us to make new friends – Julia and her sister Terry
You know that feeling when you’ve read a book and love it, and would really love to talk about it to the author? I’ve been lucky enough to have that experience a few times, and I thought you might like to hear about it. Meeting the author of a book you really enjoyed is a bit like meeting a film star – you feel in awe of what they do, because you can’t do it. Well, I certainly can’t, probably some...
