Facts About Autism
· Autism is a bio-neurological developmental disability that generally appears before the age of 3

· Autism impacts the normal development of the brain in the areas of social interaction, communication skills, and cognitive function. Individuals with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities

· Autism itself does not affect life expectancy, however research has shown that the mortality risk among individuals with autism is twice as high as the general population, in large part due to drowning and other accidents.

· Autism now affects 1 in 68 children

· Boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls

· Autism greatly varies from person to person (no two people with autism are alike)

· Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder, yet most underfunded

· Autism is treatable, not a hopeless condition Autism is diagnosed “on the spectrum,” which means one’s autism might be mild or severe. Sometimes people with autism also have savant syndrome, presenting profound capabilities in a subject or skill. Some famous and fabulous people with autism:
Susan Boyle, British singerDaryl Hannah, American actressHikari Ōe, Japanese composerSatoshi Tajiri, creator of the Pokémon seriesJohn Hall, American authorThristan Mendoza, Filipino marimba prodigyDerek Paravicini, British musician50 Tyson, rapperAlexis Wineman, Miss Montana 2012
Some people have been retrospectively diagnosed with autism. There can be no conclusive verdicts, but the list provides food for thought.
Stanley KubrickHenry CavendishEmily DickinsonThomas JeffersonJames JoyceMichelangeloWolfgang Amadeus MozartCharles RichterAlan TuringIssac NewtonNikola TeslaAlbert Einstein
Enjoy these great performances by people with autism:
Jodi Piazza performing with Weird Al Yankovic and the Actionplay ChorusDerek Paravicini plays the Avalon Blues (improvisation)Christopher Duffey performs “Lean on Me”Scott James sings “Through My Eyes”Reid Soria sings “Happy”Emma Lowry sings “Stay”

Disney made an autism-friendlyperformance of The Lion KingSo did Spiderman Movies in general can be adapted for people with autismTradeWinds boasts of autism-friendlyvacationsSometimes people with autism enjoy boats
Bottom line: people with autism have given a lot to the world. Consider giving something back. When Co-Authors Chat! Welcome Jaycee Edward & Helena Stone and your new novel "Strangers in the Night"!

Welcome, Jaycee and Helena... and characters, Callum and Slade!!!
Helena: I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, but I would never have thought promoting a book could be harder than writing it, but it sure feels that way.
Jaycee: Right? It’s like being invited to a party every day. *laughing* While that may sound like the best thing ever to some people, to introverts like us, notsomuch, huh?
Helena: Indeed. And there seem to be rules to these parties we’re only finding out about as we’re attending them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m having fun and the generosity of the people hosting us blows my mind, but overwhelmed doesn’t begin to describe how I feel right now.
Jaycee: Yeah, everyone has been beyond wonderful, but, it’s like I was kind of hoping to sneak in, leave a copy of the book on the coffee table and sneak out, but it really doesn’t work that way. People expect you to, you know… talk.
Helena: Yes, and they seem interested in getting to know us.
Jaycee: I’d rather talk about Callum and Slade. Can’t we do that? (Yes, that was a whine.)
Helena: Sure we can. As far as I’m concerned those men are far more interesting than I’ll ever be.
Jaycee: Slade is so sweet and deliciously needy. I had fun tormenting him. *grins*
Helena: I got my (sadistic?) fun from tormenting Callum. The man seems so in control but underneath it all…
Jaycee: Does that make me a sadist if I enjoyed putting both men through so much angst?
Helena: I don’t know, you tell me. I used to say I didn’t ‘do’ angst, but I guess I’ll have to change my tune. People won’t believe that anymore after they read Strangers in the Night.
Jaycee: It was tricky, though, working BDSM into a relationship that was literally only hours-old. Had Callum not had years of experience dominating different subs and had Slade not been so obviously submissive… Thankfully they cooperated beautifully.
Helena: LOL, we wouldn’t have had a story...or at least not the story we ended up with. Our men were very good to us, despite the fact we made them work very hard for their happiness. Also, does the fact that both of them cooperated beautifully mean our Callum has a side to him we haven’t explored yet?
Callum: Pardon me for interrupting, but, exactly what are you implying, lass?
Jaycee:  Yikes. Yeah, Helena… Lass....  What were you implying?
Helena: Somebody is very touchy. I wonder if I hit a nerve. I’m not implying anything, Callum. I guess we could say your compliance in the story gave Slade a wonderful example as to how to submit to the orders of he (or they) who is (or are) in charge. Phew, did I get away with that?
Jaycee: *rolls eyes* Yeah. You only rambled a little bit.
Callum: Compliance, eh? I thought for a moment you might be suggesting I had a submissive side, lassie, and I can assure you that is not the case.
Helena: I wouldn’t dream of suggesting any such thing. Having said that, you do seem to have a certain soft spot when it comes to Slade.
Jaycee: *chokes* Sorry. *wipes wine off Helena* She um… she has a point, Callum.
Slade: He does? Oh I think I might like the sound of that. Or not. I’ll have to think about that for a moment.
Callum: Don’t you get any ideas lad. Those ladies have no idea what they’re talking about.
Helena: Ohhh. Plot bunny.
Jaycee: Right???  I can see it now!
Helena: See, that’s why I love them so hard. Never a boring moment when they’re around.
Jaycee: So, Callum, I’m picturing you, naked, of course, tied to the bed…
Slade: I like this.
Callum: That’s enough!  Wait… you do?
Slade: Um. Yes?
Helena: Don’t mind us. You two just carry on. *Sits back and drinks it all in.*
Jaycee: *pours more wine* Definitely. Carry on.
Callum: Actually, we were just leaving.
Slade: We were?
Callum: Yes. *takes Slade’s hand and pulls him toward door*
Helena: Well, that was a turn up for the books (pun intended). I wonder what they’ll get up to now. I can’t help thinking Callum wasn’t nearly as offended or uninterested as he wanted us to believe. You think they’ll allow us to write THAT story too, Jaycee?
Jaycee: Do we really need their permission? I mean, Callum isintimidating, but in the end, we call the shots, right?
Helena: Right. And for me that means spending more times with our men and putting them through their paces… to be continued?
It goes without saying that you two are highly entertaining and, Callum and Slade? You two need to return for character interviews! Thank you, Jaycee and Helena, for a wonderful post and your new book is fantastic! Strangers in the Night is a must read! Check it out!

About Strangers in the Night

When Army veteran, Slade, stumbles upon an isolated cottage on a cold, dark, night, the young man finds more than just the shelter he’s seeking.

Former club Dominant Callum is surprised to find a handsome stranger knocking at his door but invites him in despite his reservations. A nightmare reveals Slade’s deep-seated emotional issues, and Callum knows he needs to get creative if he’s going to help Slade leave the past behind.

Neither man is prepared for the feelings Slade’s introduction into the world of BDSM will unleash, and thirty-six hours will either be enough to bind them, or they will remain forever strangers in the night.
About Jaycee Edward
Jaycee Edward is no longer seventeen years old but don’t tell her that. She’s actually a tad older and lives in northeast Ohio with her handsome husband and one, big gorgeous dog. She has two grown stepdaughters and is proud to be the ultra-cool Nana to two amazingly incredible grand-teens. Jaycee loves pistol shooting and is has earned her Bar 7 Sharpshooter status in the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program and hopes to someday reach the level of Expert Marksman. She is the token liberal and constant source of fascination to the other members at her gun range. Jaycee knows way too much about the inner workings of Walt Disney World and anything related to One Direction. She’d love to pull you into the rabbit hole with her. All you have to do is ask. About Helena Stone
Helena Stone can’t remember a life before words and reading. After growing up in a household where no holiday or festivity was complete without at least one new book, it’s hardly surprising she now owns more books than shelf space while her Kindle is about to explode.
The urge to write came as a surprise. The realisation that people might enjoy her words was a shock to say the least. Now that the writing bug has well and truly taken hold, Helena can no longer imagine not sharing the characters in her head and heart with the rest of the world.
Having left the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for the peace and quiet of the Irish Country side she divides her time between reading, writing, long and often wet walks with the dog, her part-time job in a library, a grown-up daughter and her ever loving and patient husband.

IT'S OUT! Amy Lane's Vulnerable (Little Goddess Book 1)!!!

Join me in welcoming Amy Lane's Vulnerable , Book One in the Little Goddess Series from DSP Publications!
I have to tell a short story here, which I'm fairly certain neither Lisa or Amy will remember. Back in September, 2013 when I was preparing for the release of Omorphi, I was in a conversation with Lisa Horan at The Novel Approach Reviews about setting up a date for the book tour. During this conversation, Lisa and I discussed our favorite authors and, of course, Amy's name came up. At the time, Lisa said she would LOVE to have Amy on her blog. I offered to ask Amy to contact Lisa about it. This was rather stupid of me because the only exchange I had had with Amy to that point was a brief Facebook PM over pseudonyms! Having absolutely no incentive whatsoever to do so, Amy took my request, contacted Lisa, and visited The Novel Approach! Holy sh*t! Amy Lane took my request!!! Lisa was thrilled!

Enter the here and now. I have a new Young Adult novel releasing in April and I asked Amy if she would be part of the book tour and she agreed! *faint* Can you believe it? Holy mackerel! Amy Lane on my book tour! It's Amy Lane!!!

It's no secret that I grew up in Hollywood and know some pretty famous people and some damn good artists, be they authors, actors, directors or producers; and I'm not one to fanboy over fame. But I am a total fan of something else: kindness. Amy Lane ranks at the top of my list of idols because she isn't only an expert at her craft, she's one of the kindest people I have come to know. And it shows in her writing. Her stories are incredibly imaginative, full of heart, and rich with the texture of storytelling. Don't miss out on the re-release of Vulnerable. The Little Goddess series is a must read series. Here's to kindness and Amy Lane's books!

And, OMG! Amy Lane is in my upcoming book tour! OMG!

About Vulnerable:
Working graveyards in a gas station seems a small price for Cory to pay to get her degree and get the hell out of her tiny town. She's terrified of disappearing into the aimless masses of the lost and the young who haunt her neck of the woods. Until the night she actually stops looking at her books and looks up. What awaits her is a world she has only read about—one filled with fantastical creatures that she's sure she could never be.
And then Adrian walks in, bearing a wealth of pain, an agonizing secret, and a hundred and fifty years with a lover he's afraid she won't understand. In one breathless kiss, her entire understanding of her own worth and destiny is turned completely upside down. When her newfound world explodes into violence and Adrian's lover—and prince—walks into the picture, she's forced to explore feelings and abilities she's never dreamed of. The first thing she discovers is that love doesn't fit into nice neat little boxes. The second thing is that risking your life is nothing compared to facing who you really are—and who you'll kill to protect.

Xavier is a former FBI agent turned deputy sheriff who is hot on the trail of a South American child prostitution ring. ABOUT THE TWINS
Both Proud Indy Authors: Princess so and her twin, Talon ps love to torment their editor with a nefarious world of foreign-lang, slang, local dialect, stretched/outside-of-the-box definitions, and have even been known to throw in some con-lang at times. This, of course, is all thrown in there with the dyslexia soup stock they both suffer from that makes editing with them a joy {joy: n see mental illness}. But the final product comes out as richly detailed holographic worlds of Gay/MM Erotic Romance; Paranormal, Sci-fi, and War time Erotic-Romances; and along with Tal’s favorite Space Sci-Fi Frontiers and Prin’s favorite works of Post-Apocalyptic Dark Fantasies, all for readers to submerse themselves into and escape from the mundane. “I’m about to make you wet.” ~ Talon ps & Princess so

Welcome Leona Windwalker and her debut novel, Sol's Solstice!

Join me in welcoming my good friend, Leona Windwalker and her debut novel, Sol's Solstice! Thank you for joining me, Leona, and congratulations on your debut release! For those of you who don't know Leona, here's a little about her.

Leona is a longtime staunch supporter of human rights and environmental causes. Her favourite genre to read is M/M fiction and she particularly enjoys science fiction, fantasy, and action/suspense subgenres—especially if they have a nice seasoning of romance. She has far too many books on her Kindle, has overloaded her phone with even more and, when not reading, writing, being driven to distraction by her children, or being overlorded by her three cats, can be found trying to locate the portal that the sock monster uses to steal socks from her dryer.

I have the pleasure of knowing a little about your terrific children. Would you care to share a little about them with everyone else?

I have two children who are both LGBT. My son is an avid gamer and is mad for Hello Kitty, make up, clothes, and shoes (especially boots). My daughter is studying art and graphic design and is an aspiring author. They can drive me crazy, but I’d be lost without them. After all, they help pamper the feline overlords.

Your feline overlords sound scary. Tell us what inspired you to become an author.
I learned to read at the age of four and became an avid reader. I never thought much about the fact that a person sat down and wrote what I read until the about the age of twelve. Then, one day, one of the neighbours was having a yard sale and I bought a book by Andre Norton. Of course, I immediately stuck my nose in the book and couldn't put it down. I even read it at a restaurant while we waited for our dinner. Not even a week after I finished it, I was surprised to see an article about female writers and their struggle for recognition. Whoa! Andre was a woman! At the publisher's insistence, she wrote under a male pen name because people did not take female writers seriously. It made me take a hard look at the names on book spines from then on.

I looked at the names on my own books. I looked at the names at the bookstore. I looked at the library. I thought, hey, women can write books! Women can write GREAT books. I could write a book! That was that. I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to become a writer and I rolled my eyes at the whole “women can’t” thing. I take attitudes like that as a gauntlet. Guess what? Women can write, and write books that are taken seriously.

The tag line for Sol's Solstics is Sol finds that light can indeed shine in his world. Indeed, this is an uplifting story full of hope and a happily ever after. Tell us what inspired you to write the story.

I wanted to share a story that held a mirror up to contemporary society. Sol’s story is a work of fiction, but much of what happens to him is a sad reality for too many people. Prejudice is real, as is homophobic violence, and quack psychiatry. But just as there is evil in the world, there is so much more good. I have experienced the innate goodness of people, so I know it’s out there. I wanted Sol to find this goodness and his happily ever after along the way; and wanted to write a story of hope and encouragement.

I understand that you plan not one but two sequels to the story. At the risk of revealing spoilers, can you tell us a little about the sequels?

I’m currently writing the sequel, Ben’s Beginning. Sol and Ben are twins, but Ben is ::gasp:: straight. He’s wrestling with guilt over things that happened in Sol’s Solstice and his own traumas about what happened to him along the way. He’s facing his demons, which include himself. He’s also experiencing a rebirth of sorts as he comes to understand sexuality and gender identity can be much more fluid than he thought; and he meets someone very special along the way who challenges his conceptions on both.
Book three features Ben’s roommate from college, Andy. He comes from a privileged background, which comes crashing down around his ears. It’s a riches to rags love story. You’ll have to wait to find out more, but I will share that there will be a dashing soldier in his future.
Wow! These stories sound great! Thanks for joining me today, Leona. I can't wait to read the sequels and hope to see again soon! It's been great having you on my blog!

About Sol's Solstice
