CONTEST, CONTEST, CONTEST!!
Here it is, kids, as promised in yesterday's blog post: the first ever Alexa Land Nerd-Off!!!
What is that? Why, it's a trivia contest. Two winners will each receive a $20 (USD) Amazon gift card, sent directly to whatever email address you use to contact me. Don't worry, I'm not going to share or publish your email address, pinky promise.
First, all the fine print:
The contest runs for 72 hours, beginning at 12 noon PST Sunday, June 23rd, 2013 and concluding Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 at 12 noon PST. Only emails received during that time period are eligible for the prize.
Winners must be 18 or older and will be selected as follows:
1. The first person to email me with the correct answer to the trivia question below gets one of the $20 Amazon gift cards.
2. The second winner will be chosen at random from all the emails I receive, and this winner doesn't need to know the answer to the trivia question! That's right, even if you don't know the answer, email me anyway! Take a completely random, wild guess. Or just say hi. Tell me a joke. Or just complain incessantly about something, that's usually what my kid does. Though if you go with that option, be aware that I will probably send you to time out. ;)
Ok, enough with all the rules and regulations! Without further ado, I give you THE NERD-OFF!
Take a look at the photo below. It's a replica of a knit hat worn by a character in a science fiction movie or television show. I can neither confirm nor deny that I actually own this hat. That would be too dorky to admit, after all.
In order to win the first $20 Amazon gift card, email me with:
1. the name of the character that wore this hat
2. the name of the movie or television show in which he or she appeared
3. your name and location.
First person to email me with the right answer wins one of the gift cards.
Even if you don't know the answer, email me anyway with a wild guess and your name and location and you will be entered into a random drawing for the second $20 Amazon gift card!
Send your answers to: alexalandwrites@gmail.com
Again, you must be 18 or older to play. Sorry, kids. Winners will be contacted via email. Your first name only will be published on my blog if you win -- I absolutely swear to respect your privacy. Your full name and email address will not be published.
Remember, you need to email me before noon on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 to win. Have fun and good luck!!

First Ever Alexa Land Nerd-Off! :)
So, as many of you have noticed (and some commented on), I tend to slip a few nerdy sci fi references into pretty much all of my books. Well, sadly, my current work-in-progress, In Pieces, is a bit light on nerdtastic details. It got me thinking, how can I nerd up this book a little?
Well, good news: I can't. Christopher, my main character from In Pieces, is far less of a geek than I am.
But what I can do instead is host a CONTEST right here on my blog with a science fiction theme -- because I suspect I'm not the only nerd out there. ;)
So here's what's gonna happen: tomorrow, Sunday, June 23rd at 12 noon Pacific Standard Time, I'm going to post a science fiction trivia question here on my blog. It will relate to either sci fi movies or television.
There will be 2 winners. Each will receive a $20 Amazon gift card, emailed to whatever address you use to contact me. Winner #1 will be that awesome individual that emails me first with the right answer to my trivia question.
But even if you're not a huge geek (and my condolences if this is the case ;) ) and don't know the answer, you can still win!! The second winner will be chosen at random from all the emails I receive in the designated 3-day time period, right answer or not!! That's right: you don't have to know the answer to win! Just play along!!
Got it? Good. Come back tomorrow and let's have some fun. :D

So just now...
...I finished writing the very last scene for In Pieces. It's done!!!
Well, the writing part anyway. It'll take a couple weeks to get it nicely polished and edited, but it will be in your hands before you know it. I'm shooting for publishing it on Amazon before the 4th of July.
It's been a long process. Fortunately, some of my readers kept encouraging me along the way, and I'm so grateful for that. The occasional friendly email really helped me stay positive and motivated.
I think I did Christopher's story justice. I hope you agree. And I so look forward to getting this book to you!

A Few Updates
Thank you to all who've taken the time to write to me and let me know you're enjoying Tinder, my paranormal erotic novella now available on Amazon. I always love hearing from my readers, it absolutely makes my day.
This week I've been back at work on In Pieces, Christopher's story, which is the third book in my Firsts and Forever series.
Here's an interesting fact (at least to me): I've received more email about Christopher than about all my other characters combined. And I think that's why I'm struggling a bit in telling his story. I really want to get it right, for all the readers that already love him, and for all that will be meeting him for the first time in In Pieces.
So, while I continue to drag this out and make you suffer (lol!), here are a couple tidbits to tide you over. First of all, I've been messing with the book's cover, here's the latest iteration:
Not sure if this is better than the last version, or merely different. What do you think?
Next, I'm posting the following speech, which I wrote for Christopher when I first started working on this book. It may not appear in the finished novel. But it gives some insight into the character and explains where that title came from, so I thought you might enjoy it:
I live my life in pieces.
There are all these different parts of me, parts I can’t bring together. There’s the hooker, the student, the artist, the best friend. The lost boy.
Will the real Christopher Andrews please stand up?
Nah, then again, don’t.
This is my life right now. It doesn’t matter which of these is the real me.
I’m a collection of fragments, bits of something broken, loosely scooped together in an open hand. And that’s the best I can hope for right now. The only way I can be. Yes, I exist in pieces, but I’m holding them together.
I’m holding me together.
And I’m getting through today.
Finally, I want to let you know that I'll be posting a sneak peek of the first chapter of In Pieces in the next few days. Check back here for the link.
Take care, friends!

Now Available!

I have to laugh at the timing of it. Because nothing says Happy Mother's Day quite like some hot m/m erotica! :D
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. I had so much fun writing it, and look forward to your feedback!

The Tinder Chronicles
Last time I updated my blog, I reported that I was hard at work on In Pieces (Christopher’s story) which is the third book in my Firsts and Forever series. That’s still a work in progress. I found I needed to take a break from it for a few days, so I could gain a fresh perspective on that story. Since I’m fairly obsessed and have to write every single day (when did I become so addicted to writing?!), I wrote a short story while on that break.
As you may know if you follow my blog, Feral was the first m/m romance I ever wrote, back in the summer of 2012. I then went on to write and publish two other books (Way Off Plan and All In), before finally returning to Feral and publishing it in March of this year. It was my biggest success to date, which I hadn't expected.
I’d always wanted to revisit Nate and Nikolai, my main characters from Feral, and tell more of their story. But I decided to approach that in a different way, instead of just writing a sequel. I’d had this other character rattling around in my head, a young vampire hunter named Tinder, and I began to envision a story involving all three of these characters.
So I’ve written a novella (about 25K words in length) told from Tinder’s perspective, and will be publishing it within the next week on Amazon. This will be the start of The Tinder Chronicles, an ongoing series of short stories revolving around this character, whose path repeatedly intersects with Nate and Nikolai.
This is something new for me. I’m excited about the idea of writing a serial, and like the fact that I can publish short stories fairly frequently, so I can keep bringing fresh material to my readers. The short story format for Tinder will also allow me to keep working steadily on my Firsts and Forever series. If I’d tried to write Tinder’s story as one full-length book, In Pieces would have been delayed, and I know a lot of my readers are eagerly awaiting Christopher’s story.
So, keep an eye out for Tinder in the next few days, and let me know what you think! Your feedback is really important to me. I hope you enjoy reading his story as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it!

Meanwhile back at the laptop...

I recently put together this cover for book three. That's very much what Christopher looks like in my mind's eye. What do you think? I may go back and make changes to the cover before I publish it, but I just couldn't resist giving you a little sneak peek!
The Firsts and Forever series includes Way Off Plan and All In. These books aren't necessarily sequels, each can stand alone. Main characters from earlier stories take a supporting role in subsequent books, while minor characters move into the spotlight. We first met Christopher in All In, and In Pieces tells his story.

Number One!
I was amazed and so grateful this morning when I discovered that Feral made it into the top spot in gay fiction on Amazon! Thank you to all my readers for making that happen, it's a dream come true!
This is also a good time to thank my beta readers. This wonderful panel of men and women volunteered their time and talent, and proofread Feral before I published it. Each and every one of you made the book stronger, and I appreciate you so much!
With love and thanks,

Please be aware of spoilers in reviews
My new book, Feral, went live on Amazon this week. I'm always so grateful when people leave me positive reviews. But I did want to give my readers a heads up. If you want to experience Feral as a bit of a mystery, as it was intended, please be aware that some of the reviews on Amazon already contain numerous spoilers. Just FYI.
If you decide to post a review, thank you, that's awesome! But please oh please try to hold back on those spoilers. Or if you do include them, please label your review accordingly so other readers know what to expect. Thanks guys! :)
