East coast beneath Bertha's tail





The tail-end of Hurricane Bertha reached us today, with heavy skies but weakening wind. What real hurricane chasers would call "just a breezy day".

Ferry me away, again...


I would much rather be on a CalMac ferryheading out on a glittering seafeeling the wind and watching the headlandsshifting and flowing in mist around mewith gulls circling hopefully, looking for chipsthe sound of the engines, that rhythm of shipsthe gentlest of heaving in a moderate swellthe old ferry feeling that all is now well
