January 2018

It is now January and Christmas has come and gone and it is a New Year. 2018 has begun with more bad weather, with more storms and high wind. It has been cold again but with some mild spells in between. I am dragging out my Christmas well into the New Year. I always think it is sad when it passes, so I am hanging onto the Festive spirit for as long as I can. I hope you all had a good Christmas.

2017 has not been a good year for my wife and I, with both of us suffering illness. For Rosanna it was earlier in the year, while I became ill late on. I am on a course of injections for B12 deficiency and I am feeling quite lethargic. I will see if I improve after the course of injections. Hopefully I will feel better. So far I am off work and finding it really hard to be motivated to go back. And Rosanna is getting attached to me being at home. I am not sure how I am going to resolve the situation. 2018 may be another eventful year.

See you next time.

October 2017

October is an Anniversary and Birthday month, so I had a week off to celebrate with the wife. The weather has been a bit bad, with storms and high wind. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Not much going on other than copyright renewals. I am renewing copyright on my books as they come up one at a time. I intend to keep the copyright going until 2024 when I might give up on renewing them. I will see how I feel.

See you next time.

July 2017

The 9th annual Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale begins today, July 1st and ends on July 31st. So like usual, or so it seems these past years, all my books will be available for free at the Smashwords website for the duration of the Sale. If you are interested in any of my books but were not engaged enough to pay, now is the time to see if they tickle your fancy. Of course there will be a lot of other books available for free or at a discount, so it is worth popping over to Smashwords and clicking on the Sale link on the front page to take a look at what is on offer.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans took place last month and it was another eventful race. Most of the bigger LMP1 cars fell out with mechanical problems, and there were a number of minor crashes, but no one hurt. Porche won again, but for the first time I have known it, two LMP2 cars ended up second and third. It was an exciting race again this year. But still no win for Toyota.

See you next time.

June 2017

Easter is long gone and the Summer has come and the weather is a lot better at last. I am glad for the warmth as I don't take to the cold very well any more. Well, I am 60, so I guess my skin is a bit thinner now and I just feel the cold more. But now there will be brighter, warmer and longer days to enjoy for a short while at least.

June is my traditional motor racing month as the 24 Hours of Le Mans is held during this month. The race is on the 17th and 18th this year. Le Mans is one of the few races I look forward to every year. I just have a thing for big sports cars. And although it is 24 hours long the race will be over all too soon. Then I mull over the result for a few days and begin to look forward to next year. Last year was a shocker with the race being resolved on the last lap. We'll see if it is as exciting this year.

See you next time.

March 2017

March is Read an Ebook Week, and so from March 5th to the 11th all of my ebooks will be free at Smashwords. That is all ebooks all free all week.

March is also traditionally the beginning of Spring, and to be fair the mornings and evenings are getting lighter, and the weather during February was not as cold as it usually is. Let us hope that the weather stays mild and Spring comes early this year.

My birthday came and went and I am now sixty. Not sure how I feel about that other than being depressed. I am definitely a glass is half empty person. If you know what I mean.

See you next time.

February 2017

As usual it has got colder after the Christmas break here in the UK. January and February are the colder months and if it does snow it does so in these months. So far we have been lucky and the snow has stayed away. But it has been a lot colder than it was before Christmas.

No New Year resolutions for me other than to try and be more upbeat and to try and recover my 'get up and go' which seems to have left me some time ago. It must be my age, but I find it harder to keep going these days and many things become more of a chore than they probably are. Still, I can but try.

February of course is my birthday month, and I will have a few days off around my actual birthday. Something to look forward to.

See you next time.

September 2016

A while ago I began an experiment with the prices for my ebooks, altering the series starters to free and increasing the price of the remaining books in each series from $2.99 to $3.99. I have left them like this for a few months now, but there has been hardly any difference in sales.

I have always thought $2.99 was about right for the price of my ebooks, but I was aware that many of them were quite long with high page counts, so I thought a split with $2.99 for the shorter books and $3.99 for the larger ones would be more natural. As it turns out my sales have remained equally non-existent with the new prices, in fact they are probably a bit worse. So that experiment is over.

So starting now all my ebooks are back to being $2.99 or free. I have decided to keep the series starters and one or two other of my books at free. This at least keeps me a bit visible at the various online retailers. It doesn't make me anything but at least I am visible and some of my books get read.

Summer is nearly over and the nights are already closing in. I am already looking forward to my anniversary in October. And from there it is all down hill to Christmas. Happy times ahead I hope.

See you next time.

July 2016

It is still raining but the Sun has managed to break out on the odd few occasions. Le Mans came and went and turned out to be a very disappointing race in the end. And now it is July.

July is traditionally Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale. This site wide promotion runs from the 1st July to the 31st. I have enrolled my books in the promotion at FREE and 75% off ($1.00). So if you are interested in any of my books but never felt like spending on them, now is a good time to experiment.

Second half of Summer coming up. Can you feel those nights closing in yet?

See you next time.
