What's Your Safest Place to Write?
Some prefer to get as far away from distraction as possible. When I am not on a beach writing with the sound of waves as my background muse, I find the safest place for me to write is in the kitchen, what's yours?

"In a not too distant future, societies of all countries come to rely on an intricate network of artificial intelligence devices designed to bring efficacy to man's life. Yet, man continues to devour himself in useless wars. A strong political hierarchy now divides all powers into three factions, and A. I. devices rapidly gain ground as efficiency becomes a priority.
As social revolts grow worse everyday, authorities seek ways to control their citizens. They decide to carry out a series of tests that will determine not only whether some crucial powers can be transferred to non human entities, but also whether man is ready to yield those powers.
The world has become a cell for all man and women, who withstand and endure their lives, rather than living them. Machines might have found a solution.
From now on, you are set free. .."

What Did Stanley Kubrick get wrong about “The Shining”
Stephen King has always disliked Stanley Kubrick's film of "The Shining,” but has he a point.
It’s no secret that Stephen King dislikes Stanley Kubrick’s film adaptation of his 1977 novel, “The Shining,” but now… he’s being asked once again to explain why. “
You are a writer, you have not only been blessed with a bestseller, but you have been doubly blessed by having an undisputed film genius wanting to bring it to life to a larger audience in theaters around the world.
The question is a simple one, when do you let your book leave the nest or do you never let it go. I feel that once you put it out there in the public it becomes subjective to public interruptions within reason. What do you think, is there a time that your book belongs to the reader, subjective to public interruptions within reason?

The Government Shutdown Coloring Book For Kids!
The folks behind Really Big Coloring Books have put together coloring book page for "parents, educators, teachers and children," and it's completely free. This particular page is part of the Really Big Coloring Books' Coloring Book Comics/"Tell the Truth - Tell it Often - Tell the Children" series, which seeks to illustrate "significant true life events for Americans of all ages" ... The company has provoked criticism -- and even, according to its publisher, death threats.."
Question: Is such a book appropriate for "kids" and if not is it censorship to pull the book and how would you react to the critics if you were the creator publisher of such a book?

I been writing long enough to know when I am too pissed to write.
When the act of writing seems too self serving and trivial in the face of human events no matter how disappointing or inspiring, yet, colossal in brilliance or stupidity, tonight is one of those nights
With the entire American federal government shutting down with massive ramifications here are some words of wisdom from some great authors that make us realize that it is ok to be angry.

"Jon Stewart tore apart Republicans over threatening to shut the government down over Obamacare, using it to claim the GOP doesn't really care about the Constitution that much to begin with, mocking their concern that Obamacare is "the end of America as we know it for reasons no one is able to clearly explain!"
"Stewart walked through how Obamacare was already upheld as constitutional, and offered a simple analogy: when football teams lose, they don't say "If you don't give us 25 points on Monday, we will shut down the fucking NFL!" He decried this "utter insanity" and berated the media for thinking both sides are equally at blame here, likening Republicans to an "asshole causing a head-on collision" on the highway."
Stewart ended by calling out the GOP for the talking point that Obama negotiates with Iran but not them.
"You're not helping yourself if it turns out that President Barack Obama can made a deal with the most intransigent, hardline, unreasonable, totalitarian mullahs in the world, but not with Republicans, maybe he's not the problem!"

The Truth About Author Websites
”For some writers, their author website is a thing of pride of beauty. It’s an active well of new material, a place of engagement and connection, an extension of their books, even an invitation into their writing life. It gathers email addresses, expands audience, benefits SEO, and is their personal beachhead on the Web.”
“For others, the author website is an annoyance, an obligation, and a static reminder of all they hate about digital media’s encroachment on their writing life…”
Help end my agony and constant back and forth.
Are Author Websites Important?
