A green an ancient light

I loved this book, It is one of those Ive been reading a page here or there for years, till a few days ago I decided to finish reading it. The imagery is lush and dreamy, and the characters are realistic including Mr. Girandole, and R. the forign enemy fighter piolet, the narrator saves with his Grandmother and Girandole, who is a faun.
