planting demons

feet buried in dirt
his skin texture like wood grain
—reaching tree branch horns

good with the pipe

I’m in the bathroom
chomping on some cold pizza
while I fix the sink

she strolls right on in—
her fingertips tempt the chrome
knowing I’m right there

I take a huge bite
of some spicy tomato
—she washes her hands

cups & measures

the bra salesman’s boss
advised him to go after
the low hanging fruit

the pipe organ

the phantom’s fingers
two tarantulas in love
dance across the keys

the end of the bar

here, rattling bourbon
spider legs trapped in ice cubes
—I drink up and spit

spider food

on the Internet
my eye catches something great
as I click away
but the browser’s back arrow
just sends me to a blank page

bowler hats and artificial rainstorms

the umbrellas spin
and tease with fleeting glimpses
at the cabaret

earthbound

geodesic homes
along Bradbury Landing
—prime real estate

The above was my Message to Mars Contest entry. Unfortunately, this haiku didn't garner enough votes and won't be traveling to Mars (voting closed yesterday). I'd offered the promise to write a free eBook as an incentive to get people to vote for my entry (details here).
