The Hunting Mammoths Series
I like big things…
I’d rewatch Jurassic Park for hours just to stare at the Brachiosaurus or flip through library books and imagine sitting in a BelAZ 75710 Dump Truck. Even today, one of my favorite subreddits is r/HumanForScale, where you’ll find people measuring themselves against gigantic skulls, animals, and ancient buildings.

Challenge #19: Finding What Was Lost
Dreamhaven, Notorious, Secret Door, Frost Giant.
These, along with nearly a dozen more, are game studios founded by former Blizzard employees. In a way, they were attempts to reclaim what had been lost: the three core principles of Blizzard’s success.
Today, you’re going to practice your own reclamation.

The Blizzard Trifecta
One of the things I want to do on Bending Pink Steel is reverse engineer the “ordered thinking” of others.
By that, I mean how did the thinking patterns of well-known people enable their success or lead to their downfall (and sometimes both). We’re actually going to spend the rest of 2024 on this task in a more structured way—so keep an eye out!
But today, I wanted to use the series gap to pull ideas from one of the best books I read all year: Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Ente...

Body Body Body Series Recap with Curtis Carnes
Big thank you to Curtis for coming back on the pod to wrap this series up! We talk about how it challenged us to move from “body stupid” to “body smart” — along with the personal and professional benefits that resulted once we did.

Challenge #18: The Swap List
The problem with learning a lot in a short period is that it paralyzes you from taking the actions that will make a difference in your life.
If you kept up with the Body Body Body series, you were handed around 100 different tactics to transform your brain and improve your life. Awesome, but overwhelming. Trust me… I felt the same way, and I was the guy putting it all together!
Today’s challenge (which we'll start calling post-workout prompts) will give you a clear starting point.

The Body Body Body Series: Wrap Up
The Body Body Body series intimidated the crap out of me.
I love my brain. I love figuring out how to make it better. Bending Pink Steel and our focus on mental fitness is a byproduct of my own passionate pursuit of the subject.
But the more I learned, the more obvious it became that I've had a massive blind spot. I saw the mind-body connection as a one-way street where I could push my body to do incredible things because of what my mind was capable of. It never occurred to me that the opposite co...

21-Day Challenge: Identity
The original idea for a 21-day challenge came to me while I was completing my Brain Fitness Coach certification through the International Sports Sciences Association.
Most people know about neuroplasticity — how the brain can be intentionally reshaped. But fewer have heard about neurogenesis and its partner synaptogenesis — the formation of new neurons (and synapses) in the brain.
While neuroplasticity can reshape a brain in as little as 90 days (though some studies say it’s closer to 7-9 month...

Challenge #17: It Starts With You
🏋️♂️ Your brain is primed for reshaping immediately after a workout. Aim to complete this prompt within 60 minutes of exercising. Sometimes, I don’t feel worthy of friendship.
There are parts of my life that are still so far from what I want them to be, and by keeping people away, I save myself from the rejection I think I’ll get.
It’s a perfectly logical way to end up alone. 😅
So, what do we do?

Why Your Brain Needs (Other) Bodies
🎧 You can listen to this post using the Substack app. Here's a 15-second tutorial. All the best animated films begin with a lonely protagonist.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast) stuck in a town that doesn’t understand her. Carl (Up) living in a house surrounded by a world that no longer makes sense to him. Marlin (Finding Nemo) frantic after his son is taken.
My favorite, and the one I think best illustrates this week’s principle, is WALL-E.

✨ End of Year Update | Where is BPS headed?
Creating something new is messy.
But I’ve found that other people (myself included) tend to find those messes interesting. 😅 And outsiders uncover excellent insights that the people building might be too close to see.
In this short episode, I pull the curtain back to invite you in and highlight everything we’re doing now to set this project up for success in 2025.
