How Can We Help Ourselves Feel Better?
So, we all have experienced some form of illness, whether it is a headache, a scraped knee, an infection, a sore throat, ear ache, cancer, heart disease or recovering from a surgery just to name a few. We have already discussed what makes you sick and given you possibilities for what creates wellness, but let’s be clear here and talk about how we can help ourselves feel better. My field is energy healing so that is what we will explore.
When a client approaches me for care, we first discuss their intention or focus for the treatment to feel better as they give me a synopsis of their current condition. We look at Mind, Body and Spirit for balancing. As part of their self-care after our energy healing, we explore what reading they are interested in for personal and spiritual development. In the area of the mind, we will check with Louise Hay for affirmations surrounding their current condition and look at Doreen Virtue or Esther Hick’s work for further affirmations that look, see and feel just right. We also look at the impact of viewing the world in a more positive light, looking at illness as a means to learn or reawaken and showing us contrast so we can look at what we DO want and give THAT our focus and attention which helps us FEEL better.

I in no way am a nutritionist, but the client agrees to explore healthy eating options with their Doctor, either medical or Naturopath, and look especially at their water intake and their consumption of more fruits and vegetables, less processed food and eliminating soda. We look at smoking, drugs and alcohol and the impact on their bodies. Together, we come up with a plan that can reasonably address their choices and focus on the feel of their plan.
In the area of Spirit, we discuss a plan for meditation. We look at what is available on line as well as my own Relaxation and Meditation CD: Flotations, using the chakras for balancing. We also look at current books, discuss breath and how to allow thought drift, eliminating monkey chatter in our brains, as much as possible. How Does an Energy Field Feel?

It is truly remarkable to sit with a group of people as they experience the feeling of their own energy field. My first trained experience was in 1998 as I took my first Healing Touch class. When the instructor said to “sense what you feel“, I admit to being somewhat skeptical, thinking that only psychics or sensitives could experience those kinds of feelings. I was stunned to notice things like pressure, hot spots, cool spots, tingling, chills, bumpiness and “just something different” from one side of the body to another.
So THAT IS what a field feels like. In my training, as I asked permission to work in the energy field of friends, neighbors and relatives, I was able to feel a pain spike when someone really hurt or had a migraine; to feel what cancer felt like vs no cancer, to feel what a growth or stone felt like in a body… and I was amazed. That was 1998 and now folks in Western NY come and visit me for energy treatments and we create a life plan for their own self-healing.

All Healing is Related to Self-Care
All Healing is Related to Self-Care
How can this be, you ask? Well, did you ever wonder how patients get the exact same care and one walks away, unscathed and another exits the planet? I wondered too. I offer the explanation of self-care as a way of understanding. Let’s put it this way, a Doctor will listen to our complaints and then prescribe a course of treatment or further testing to confirm a possible diagnosis. The treatment may involve a change of diet, sleep patterns, exercise, water intake, relaxation response, along with medicine. Some Doctors even recommend massage therapy, acupuncture, counseling and Healing Touch as a prescription.
So, we get the message, but do we do the work? Many folks pop the pills and that is that! They think they have done what the Dr. prescribed, but neglected 80% of what their doctor suggested. We have amazing medicines available to us, but they work in conjunction with our own health habits.
Roseanne is using Hands in Motion to remove energetic debris in client’s field.
When my clients come for a healing, they walk away with a “self-care” card and a follow-up appointment of their own choosing. The self-care includes reading (or listening) material to help their intellectual understanding of healing, meditation CD (either mine or an agreement to download some), and a plan for exercise of their choice and a focus on healthful nutrition provided by either a nutritionist or their Doctor. For we are energy workers and are guided by a Code of Ethics to provide energy directions. We must acknowledge the mind-body-spirit connection. So, to that end, my clients set their goals and the healing energy then supports their choices for self-care. The end result is simply miraculous, as folks learn the totality of healing. Finding the Healer Within With Meditation
How can you connect with your own healing ability you ask? Wonderful question. One of our great teachers, Deepak Chopra, wrote in his book The Spontaneous FulFillment of Desire that the greatest tool we have for our own spontaneous fulfillment of our greatest desires is meditation! Is it really so simple? YES! Meditation is a tool that helps us release our worries and stresses of the day, hour or moment and focus only on breath and the moment of NOW.
Help your kids learn about meditation.
Granted, this is a bit more difficult than I am making it seem, for sure. There are thousands of books written to guide us in our efforts to learn to become more mindful in our lives. I actually teach a course about meditation and have written a book ( I AM Within) for Newbies, teachers and families to help you all explore meditation together.
So, how do you start? Well, another wonderful teacher, Jon Kabat Zinn who wrote Wherever You Go, There You Are (love,love love the title), tells us to start with breath. Breathe in and out SLOWLY, focusing only on the sound of ourselves breathing. Now, if this puts you to sleep, hang in there and try again. Perhaps you are simply very tired. And if you are one of those folks whose mind chatter cannot stop, then allow your thoughts to hook onto the image of beautiful cumulo-nimbus puffy white clouds floating by. Listen to soft music if you like or simply sit in silence with breath. You can start with five minutes and work up to twenty or more.
When I first heard Deepak recommend 20 minutes morning and night I was about 36, had two babies, was managing our home and working to boot and thought ,”Really? Are you kidding me, Deepak? You simply do not know my life!” However, as I began focusing on breath, I noticed my days were better, my thoughts clearer, my nights, calmer. I was able to influence others in a peaceful manner. My decisions came easier, things just got smoother.

How to Make an Energy Ball
Absolutely one of my FAVORITE things to do with people. This is a great way to feel your own energy. It is so much fun. You can follow these steps and then click on my idea and see how Joey and Marissa felt their energy in I AM Healer .
First, keep your feet on the ground and don’t cross anything-arms, fingers, knees or ankles. Next, get yourselves centered using centering described in my other blogs or in I AM Healer.
Now, rub your hands together for about two minute and notice of course that they get warm from the friction. But the next part is the COOLEST!
Once you feel that friction, pull them apart, but NO NOT TOUCH! You may want to close your eyes to “get out of your head and into your heart-mindedness”.
NOTICE what you sense. Push and pull your hands back and forth but once again DO NOT TOUCH. Allow your hands to slide over one another and notice the difference. Put some words to it.

How to Begin Energy Healing
Perfect Question. Energy healing must start with centering. One of the things we can do is read up on the many qualities of a centered person. Just for starters, a person is calm and relaxed when centered, able to think more clearly. Solutions to problems just “pop” into our consciousness when we center. Children are able to focus on what is the topic at hand. 
Referring to my training in Healing Touch, we call it heart-centering. We think about love and breathe in white light. We allow troubles and worries to be released as we breathe out. We breathe in happiness and bliss. The teacher in my book “ I AM Healer” tells the children to allow themselves to got to a peaceful place in their minds, imaging the colors, shapes, scents and shadows. This helps us center ourselves as we get ready to focus on intention, the next step in Energy Healing. Of course, it is understood that Healing Touch requires nearly 5 years for certification and one must work in the field on Energy Healing and Light as a Reiki Practitioner for years to become skilled, but just as an entry point for you curious readers, start with centering.
