Amy Rae Durreson is a quiet Brit with a degree in early English literature, which she blames for her somewhat medieval approach to spelling, and at various times has been fluent in Latin, Old English, Ancient Greek, and Old Icelandic, though these days she mostly uses this knowledge to bore her students. Amy started her first novel a quarter of a century ago and has been scribbling away ever since. Despite these long years of experience, she has yet to master the arcane art of the semicolon. She was a winner in the 2017 Rainbow Awards.

I'm aiming for seven books, including a novella length prequel about Cayl and Sethan. There are a lot of dragons out there, but the remaining four in the main series are Markell (rust), Isara (silver), Quarllian (purple) and finally Sharnyn (green). And, yes, Markell's up next, though it won't be for a while, I'm afraid, as I've barely started his book and have another project I need to finish first. <spoiler>And, yup, though it's going to be a stormy wooing XD</spoiler>(less)

The second book switches focus to different characters dealing with the consequences of the first book. End-of-book cliffhangers irritate me, so I try not to write them XD(less)

Looking for advice

Hi

I'm posting this on both Facebook and Goodreads in the hope someone can help. I'm in the early stages of a book where the love interest (mid-twenties, overachiever, hot and knows it) is Deaf (severe hearing loss following meningitis when he was four). I'll be looking for a paid sensitivity reader once I've got the first draft hammered out, but for now I'd really like to just chat to someone w... Read more of this blog post »

Amy Durreson answered Maike's question: Amy Rae Durreson
I'm afraid it's a very long off. I've been struggling to write much the last couple of years, and my high fantasy muses seem to have taken the brunt of it. That said, I do really want to get back to Kastrian and the others one day, so I'm not givi... See Full Answer

"I was looking for shelves for this and realised I needed a new category: rural fantasy, in opposition to urban fantasy. It's a modern fantasy deeply embedded in British folklore--the Green Man, dryads, the Hunter, witch bottles, 20s occult, and a..." Read more of this review »
