Kindle eBook FREE 3/20 – 3/24

Due to the current virus going around, I have seen many posts on various social media sites about parents with children stuck at home. Due to this, I have also seen many of these parents looking for some new children’s books. While I can’t help with younger kids, I can help anyone with children in the 8-12 age range or anyone who still enjoys reading middle grade fiction. So, from tomorrow, Friday 3/20 through Tuesday 3/24, the first book in my series will be free!

If you are interested in print books, Amazon often has my first four books and the first series companion on sale, so if you’re interested in a series of books about animals, magic, or both, you should definitely check them out on Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/Jennifer-Priester/e/B00AOFPVLO/ref=dp_byline_cont_ebooks_1

Mortal Realm Witch: Learning About Magic is a middle grade fantasy featuring short stories about a young witch struggling to learn how to use her new powers responsibly with the help of her talking dog, some magical wolf pups, and more! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D09TLO4/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0

My School Day With Selective Mutism

This describes so much of my own school life and experiences with growing up with selective mutism. School was not a very enjoyable place for me.

I am not shy.

A day in the life with Selective Mutism is tiring, frightening and challenging. If I think back to my high school days, I remember the feeling of absolute fear rushing through my body when I tried to go about my day to day life. I remember on a typical school day packing my school bag with my lunch in the morning, this is a simple task yet it didn’t feel simple to me at all. “Oh no, I can hear my juice bottle sloshing around in my bag as I walk and move, I’ll have to leave it behind and go thirsty”. “My Mum has made me tuna sandwiches for lunch today, but I don’t think I can take them, when I open my bag people might be able to smell them, which will draw extra attention”. Apart from these barriers, eating at school was basically impossible anyway; I, like…

Review of Aegis Rising by S.S. Segran

The first thing I thought when I started reading was that the five seemed like a fun group. I love how throughout, unlike a lot of other books like this, there are light hearted moments with the characters that are fun to be part of. These characters are easy to like and are quick to feel like friends more than just characters I’m reading about. It’s rare for me to actually feel involved with the characters and the world. This book accomplishes that. It’s a highly engaging and fast paced read. Unlike many longer books, I didn’t want to take a break while reading. I still needed to, but I really didn’t want to stop reading for anything. I was surprised for the kind of book it is, that I found it to be believable and have a realistic feel to it. The world and characters are easy to imagine and at a different time, I think the village would be an awesome place to live. It sounds like it would be paradise during better times.

My Ghost Story

Sometimes crazy and impossible things happen. Most people would either ignore what I experienced or use science to explain it. You could say I imagined it, that what happened was coincidence, or explain what happened in many different ways. You can say whatever you want, but you will never change what I know happened.

I was at home cleaning the cage of my rabbit, Oreo, when just for a moment I felt a cold breeze. There was no one around and no open doors at that time. This all happened very quickly. Directly following the cold was what I would call a companionable warmth, like what you would feel with a friend nearby. This lasted right up until the phone rang and the warm presence was gone, leaving behind the feeling of sadness. Just after that, I’m being told what I already knew. Oreo was gone.

As crazy and impossible as it sounds to many people, I believed it then and always will believe that Oreo was there.

Going in a New Direction

I was wrong. I will not be making the posts I originally had planned. The reason for this is because my head doesn’t work like that. I can’t control where my thoughts go so sticking to a plan never seems to work out. However, I can stick to ideas with no problems. As I considered where to go and what to do next, an idea came to me. I decided that before I can make it interesting for you, I need to make it interesting for me. That’s why I haven’t made a lot of posts. I’m always getting stuck on what would be interesting to everyone else. Now, I’m just going to make posts that are fun for me and see what happens. It works for writing stories so I assume the same rules apply here as well. In my next post, whatever that ends up being, I am just going to go with it.

New Posts Coming Soon!

Once I get things thought out, organized, and written, you will be seeing 4-5 new posts from me. As promised, I am taking this blog to a more personal level. These first posts will focus on SAD. For those of you who don’t have it or have any experience with it, this will be a whole new world to you. If you don’t know what SAD is, then be on the lookout for my next post. SAD has always been a large part of my life. I have always had it and it has always been a huge influence and driving factor throughout. You could actually say it’s had the most control in my life. This is why I am restarting my blog with it. Throughout these posts you will get to know what SAD is, as well as get to know me a bit better as I will take you through some of my life. My past is usually a place I like to stay away from and I don’t like talking about myself, so this will definitely be an interesting challenge and experience. Seriously, even people who know me might start questioning how much they really know after this. I know I started seeing things differently once I really understood myself and the  way SAD has really challenged and affected my life.

Well, that’s it for now. I am hoping to make my first post sometime within the next week, however I can only guarantee I will be posting it this July.

Upgrading the Blog

My blog isn’t nearly as active as it should be, however I have been working to get it running again. The reason there haven’t been new posts in a while is because I have been working on posts that will bring it to a more personal level. These posts don’t come easily to me and my life doesn’t really offer much to blog about.

Life for me isn’t really that exciting. I’m an author with a publishing company and that’s really all there is. I’m not one of those authors that gets inspired by these incredible adventures that they have had, because I don’t have adventures. I can only imagine adventures and more interesting lives than my own.

Most of the time I do the same things every day. I get up and when it’s possible to, I go outside. I do some reading later and write if the mood hits. I feel like if I blogged about my life you would always read the same post.

Sometimes I go to vendor events or author events for book promotion, but what happens at these events is basically just waiting and hoping to sell books. Interesting happenings are rare.

Otherwise I don’t have much going on in my life. I don’t get to see people or be with them much, aside from family so fun is always lacking. I have the worlds most inactive dog, and I have yet to learn how to drive.

I’m not complaining about my life. While boring, there are occasionally blog worthy moments. I have been drawing on my past and my current life to create blog posts. However, as there aren’t many yet, the blog will still be a bit inactive. At least you can’t complain that I make too many posts.
