Mark Tufo Week - Zombie Fallout Vol 3 & 3.5: The End & Dr. Hugh Mann

Don't let that title fool you- this story is nowhere near over! The battle is just really getting on and Mike Talbot is no joke. He's not invincible, but he's got some upgrades to share.

In Book Three, Eliza is out for blood... pun intended, and she's obtained some surprising backup. Why she's determined to push so far is still unknown, but one thing's for sure: It's absolutely fantastic!

So with that, on with the review... Picture Moving more on Mike's instincts than Tommy's, the Talbots are struggling to stay alive. The zombies are relentless and Eliza is pushing herself, as well as her reinforcements to the brink.

The best part of this book are the arguments between Mike and BT. They are the worst and would make you believe they've known each other for years instead of meeting up during the zompoc. When BT gets hurt and needs a scooter to get around is the absolute best to me! By the way, BT stands for Big Tiny, so you can imagine what this guy looks like.

In this part of the saga ZF#3, The End, Eliza is using a special trick to get her zombies to behave as she exploits another source for minions. It doesn't look good for the Talbot clan. Everything leaves you hanging on for life because there's no rest. Unless you count Mike's flashbacks from his days of drinking, drug-taking, or worse- intestinal disorders. Picture In ZF #3.5: Dr. Hugh Mann, a short story, you discover exactly where the zombie virus derives. If it weren't for Dr. Mann, (Doctor Hugh Mann, get it?) all would be right with the world. But his discovery is what assisted in placing the world into Eliza's hands.

You learn how Tomas was introduced into the Talbot family and how things were placed into government hands. It's an odd story, it also seems to have been shifted as far as origins are concerned, but it's a cool read. I think you'll enjoy this one, but it's not what makes the story. The best part is that later, a piece of this story comes back into play. You'll find yourself saying, "Oh, I remember that!"

Check this out too, but if you don't, you won't miss anything but history. It does come back, but you wouldn't know what they're speaking of if you don't!

Cheers!

Mark Tufo Week - Zombie Fallout, book 4: The End Has Come and Gone

Picture When I first listened to this story, years ago, I thought it was fabulous. Now that I've re-read the book, I love it so much more! So much happened that I was left in stitches with eyes full of tears.

Zombie Fallout 4: The End Has Come and Gone is even more neurotic and hilarious than the previous books. Mike's distaste for germs is constantly in the way, and his luck never seems to run good. Then there's BT, fighting to survive Tracy's driving, of all things. Oh, and then there's that chain-smoking Mrs. Deneaux! She's one of those characters you will always love to hate.  Picture This book, or audiobook, shows you just how many jams the Talbots can get in and out of. The best part is, everyone doesn't make it. They lose people- some to serious tragedy- but you push on, just like the family, and Mike never quits.

ZF4 dove into the background/relationship of Eliza and Tomas. You know their story and why Eliza is the way she is, but you find out so much more. You also learn what she expects from her brother. You take on a bit of the feels for all she endured, but you still don't like her. As for Tommy... judge for yourself.

I can tell you, you will laugh more than anything, mostly because of Mike and Durgan, a villain. OH and the ending is superb!

Check out book four, while I move on to book 5!
Cheers!

Mark Tufo Week - Zombie Fallout, Book 5: Alive In A Dead World

Picture This book here; OMGoodness! in Zombie Fallout 5: Alive in A Dead World, you find out what's really happening.
For real- how did I forget all of this?!

As usual, the group is fighting to stay ahead of the zombies, but there's a bit of trouble inside the Talbot group. Family and friends are divided on what to to and where to go. Then there's the ever vigilant zombies, with Eliza at the helm, but more than anything: they're captured! "gasp!"

I can't say much more, but the story is heavy and you find yourself feeling pretty bad for them all. Just goes to show you, Mark Tufo is the man and knows how to bring a story together.  Keep reading, because you gain answers in this book. You feel for the characters and their heartaches, leaving you unsure, as they are, on which way to go. I say, move towards the next book!   Cheers

Demons

*Movie Review Picture A former priest, turned author and his wife trudge through life, dealing with their past as little as possible. On the eve of a friend’s wedding and the celebration of his latest book, they’re visited by a heavy presence that demands another's hardship. Or does it? Demons is a movie of darkness, sadness and regret. Sad part is, the demons that need exorcising aren’t what you think. The movie shares the ugliness of an unfortunate family, and what really needs to take place in order to move past a disaster. It’s a serious movie, but don’t expect it to be filled with the terror you’d expect from a movie bearing such a title.

Through flashbacks of a tortured past, you’re given cause for all the horror of their lives. You endure the torture, but you don’t really feel it. It’s a decent movie, and there’s proper acting, but it just wasn’t strong enough development. I found the story dragged for the most part, but when it was time to get down to the nitty gritty, it was great.

Demon’s isn’t going to hit big, but it’s a big story that should be filed under biblical thriller. Picture

Blade Runner 2049

*Movie Review Picture As a fan of the original movie from 1982. I was... a younger version of myself. LOL Anyway, I thought it was a magnificent film back then and it's a part of my collection- mostly because it was a really cool story back then. I also had a huge crush on Han Sol- I mean Harrison Ford! So what did I thing of BR2049? Picture First off, though I loved K and Deckard, I was a total fan of the villainess, Luv. She was freaking awesome! Now that that's out of the way, I can go along with my review.

Next, Blade Runner 2049 was very long. So long, my hubby dozed off a couple of times, but it was very good. I appreciated the storyline, the characters and how it all came back to Deckard. The special effects were totally cool and gave the dystopian, futuristic atmosphere substance. It wasn't filthy and nasty, as with the first movie.

It's about 'KD9-3.7', a Blade Runner, who's discovered a long, lost secret that could lead to a replicant revolution. He's so reliable and duty-bound that it's unlike him to go off in a sort of discovery mode. Due to the many facets of the story, everyone's a suspect and you wonder, just like 'K', who the key to the story really is and who he is.

I appreciated how it began near exact to the first. I also enjoyed the movie in its entirety  but it really wasn't necessary. Although, I admit, it was cool to find out what happened  to Rachael and Deckard, knowing she had no expiration date. I think the length of the film could have been shortened, AND I could have done without all the womanly things  all over the place. What's with them in the future, man?

Anyway, if you're a Blade Runner fan, Blade Runner 2049 will be a fun movie for you. Cheers!   Blade Runner 2049

Mystery/Sci-Fi/Thriller

The Haunting of Ashburn House by Darcy Coates

Picture I believe this is my first Darcy Coates book. The Haunting of Ashburn House is the story of a down on her luck gal, looking to start anew. Looking to reshape her life, and with a little luck, keep a roof over her head while feeding her overly fed cat, Wolfgang. What she winds up with is a  house full of secrets, mysterious lurkers in the woods and a family history better left alone! Picture The Haunting of Ashburn House was cute. It wasn't a great read, but it was very good- for a couple of reasons. It's written well and made to be enjoyed. but the thoughts of Adrienne cracked me up from start to finish. My favorite part was when she was anxious to have people to talk to her; her psyche whispering: "Friend" overtime something positive took place or was said.  I loved it!

Though the story in itself is amazing, I didn't like Addy's lack of making Ashburn hers. She inherited a humongous house and she never really cleaned it or used her one to decorate. She talked about how grubby the windows were, but she never cleaned them. She had TONS  of books to read, but she read any? Did she check to see if any ere a diary.... Nope! She had so much opportunity to discover from Aunt Edith, but she didn't take advantage of any of them. There were a few conflicts within the story, like the story is American, but she stated distance in kilometers- not a big deal, but off. Also, Also, she only freaking ate Cup O' Noodles... is that a real thing? People really eat that for lunch and dinner? Anyway...

The Haunting of Ashburn House, by Darcy Coates, is a great read. Not gory, not gross and written like a true haunt. I loved every bit and may even go out and check out a few more of her books. Please, don't hesitate to download this book. You will like it!

Cheers!

Tin and Tina

*A 12-Minute Indie Movie Picture When you think of indie horror, you think of horrible spaghetti noodles, covered in colored goop, or tomato sauce. You think of terrible foam costumes and acting fresh out of elementary school, right?

Not with Tin and Tina, a 12-minute, short horror move that's created from the threading of classic masterpieces such as Hitchcock's Psycho and Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Filmed in black and white and starring a set of children with the demeanor of Bela Lugosi as Dracula, this movie is guaranteed to keep you watching and walking away with a sense of satisfaction. The movie is about a set of twins who's parents are divorced. In the movie, they're spending time with their father, a  cruel, hateful man. Evidently they felt hie needed a change, and decided to start with the puréed chicken dinner. What happens is pure, child-like resolution. It's warped but so innocent, and grisley that it's made perfect! I loved it and actually watched twice.

It's in Spanish, with subtitles, but the ominous feeling of dread and incoming danger is prominent. Take a watch below; just know it's excellent! That's my warning; isn't that something different? Enjoy the movie while I'm off to the next read!

Cheers! Tin and Tina
Written/Directed by Rubin Stein
Produced by Rubin Stein and José Antonio de la Torre Espinosa
Cinematography: Alejandro Espadero
Starring Ana Blanco de Còrdova, Sasha Di Bendetto and Manolo Cuervo

Second Nature

*Movie Review *MATURE AUDIENCE* Picture

I know this isn't one of my normals, but it's really a cool movie. Hang in there with me-  because #1: it was a freebie and #2: you'll understand.
What happens when you have a magic mirror, a klutzy but darling-hearte woman and a chauvinistic man, combined with a light bulb socket? An electrifying good but raunchy time! Second Nature is life on the flip-side, where men behave like women and women like men. It's one of those things that makes you laugh and wonder... Picture Amanda Maxwell only wants what's good for her small town of Louisburg. It's a small place that's great for family raising and dog parks, but she's known as "Also Run". She never wins. So when the mayor is killed in a very naughty situation, she decides to go for the position. Running against her is her boss and all-around chauvinistic pig, Bret Johnson.  Everyone knows he's got the position in the bag. Amanda and Bret end up in an argument while saying some words that end up biting them in the behinds for Bret, magically and literally!

Second Nature is one of those comedy movies that flips the script. Something like that one John Travolta movie where whites were treated as blacks and blacks were top billing in everything, but only funny... and fun.  This movie will have you cracking up and sorta grossed out.  There are men in make-up, sharing their feelings and calling one another skanks!

The movie teaches a sweet lesson about treating one another in fairness, but it also says Have A Blast!  Second Nature released on 10 November 2016 - how did I never see this? Second Nature
Directed by Michael Cross
Produced by Michael Cross, Nicholas Gyeney & Susan LaSalle
Stars Collette Wolfe, Sam Huntington & Carollani Sandberg

Bob Howard's Infected Dead

Picture Bob Howard, the author of The Infected Dead series is an author after my own heart. His books are different. The Infected Dead series carries a non-phantasmic feel, like real life. A lucky life, but real.  The stories begin with the fortunate findings of Ed Jackson, then carry you through the end of the world... Or does it? *Click on book covers to purchase at Amazon.com Alive for now explains the zompoc in Ed Jackson's world. Just as quick as he's hit with the blessing of money and a new home, he's plunged into a world without video games and loneliness. Once thought to be a self-made misanthrope, he realizes that even with everything he wants, he needed people around him. So he breaks a cardinal rule, given by his uncle, Titus when it comes to survival. And that's when the adventure begins.

Alive For Now caught my attention through Instagram. It tells of how people can work together, even during the apocalypse. Yes, there will be those who want what you have, but if you're careful, you can live through it all. In the first book, you get to know the main characters, especially Ed. He's a bit bland, and doesn't really want much for himself but to be left alone, until the break out event.  Through his experience, you learn how it all begins, but not the why. You also get to know his friends- yes, he finds some survivors, but I won't say more than that.

The story is good, yet detailed to a fault. Interesting, but does hit a bit of lag time- but most books do. You can't run on high octane  100% of the time with a story like this. Lastly, the heroes are so freaking goofy and lucky... but it's what makes it so enjoyable.  Stick with me and find out what happens in the second book.
Cheers!

Bob Howard's Book 2 of - The Infected Dead:  Survive For Now

Picture Book two of the adventurous Infected Dead series is takes you on a journey, an unexpected journey, since Uncle Titus said: STAY INSIDE THE SHELTER! Nobody listens.  This time, Chief, Kethy, Jean and Ed take steps that place them all in epic danger... Survive For Now flips the script. Ed, again, breaks the cardinal rule of survival and goes outside to save a few more survivors, but they learn so much in this installment. It's a straight-forward telling of our survivors and their new mates, as they battle the elements, then discover something mind-blowing!

So their new friends, Molly and her father Tom, want to find their family in Alabama. One one to follow rules, Ed and his crew: Chief, Jean and Kelly, go on a venture that lands them in them what can only be some sort of plotting of the end of the world. Was Uncle Titus in on the destruction of billions of lives?

Oh- and something unexpected is totally expected!

I enjoyed the story, but again, a ton of detailing that made it come off like a cartoon where everything is explained before it's done. Not a negative, but definitely a lot of wording and unbelievable luck. Still a thumbs up!
Cheers!
