"Facebook Jeanie" to be released October 1, 2013

Bunnies!
Yes, that means you.
I'm terribly excited to announce that my next romantic comedy ebook will be released on October 1st, 2013.
Stay tuned for a cover reveal -- once I figure out what it is and how to do it, it will be AWESOME.
Also, blog tours and guest posts and whatnot.
I'm excited.
Jeanie is excited, but she's always like that. Just like she always wears pink.
I LOVE the cover, by the way.
More later!

Sixteen Candles

Today I want to blog about Sixteen Candles.
It is the movie I've seen more than any other. Maybe over 100 times? The go-to movie when I was sick, home without plans, hanging out with my best friend, or any other excuse I could think of to turn it on between the ages of 16 and 26. Not that I didn't love it past 26, it's just that other things got in the way of watching Sixteen Candles over and over again. Makes me realize I've really got to sort out my priorities. Make more time for the things that really matter.
Like Sixteen Candles.
Jake Ryan. The pegged jeans. The casually wry smile. The stand-up hair. A sweater vest never looked so good.
That last scene when all the cars pull away in front of the church. Cue Thompson Twins "If You Were Here." He's standing in front of the red Porsche waiting for her. He waves. She looks behind her to see what hot babe he's waving at. Looks back and asks, "Me?" He nods, laughing and says, "Yeah, you."
Let’s all just take a moment to really feel that.
Then he's so cute and explains he came there for her and she gets to point to her dad "This is the boy" and he gives the OK sign.
Fade to scene—suddenly night time—birthday cake all lit with candles. “Make a wish.” “It already came true.” And a kiss which somehow doesn't seem too awkward, even though it's over open flames. Cue the credits.
No other movie really ever needs to be made.
Tonight I want to call up my college roommate and see if she can watch it again with me. Of course we now live 3,000 miles away from each other and there are other, minor challenges like husbands and kids.
Anyway, my husband got “Ted” from Netfilx for us to watch tonight. I’m trying to keep my expectations low; I’m sure it’ll be no Sixteen Candles. The real romance seems to be between Marky Mark and his teddy bear. But I do love the scene with him rattling off white trash names. Seems to come VERY easily to him. As a native Boston girl myself, I deeply appreciate it.
Sweet dreams, Jake Ryan…

Thank you, goodreads!

Thank you to the 109 people who've added "Christmas in Wine Country" to their "to read" shelf on Goodreads! What a fantastic site. I love the ability to compare book lists with other members -- so cool. And I'm so grateful to all the people reading and planning to read my book! Enjoy :)

Happy New Year

Wishing everyone a happy new year!
I have a serious date in January 2013 with my new NutriBullet. Spinach, broccoli, almonds, flax seeds and frozen berries mashed up together in a cup, anyone???
Plus I'll be hard at work on my new book, "Facebook Jeanie."
And squeezing in the time to transform into a fantastically fit cardio boxing ninja.
See everyone at the gym!
And happy new year!!!

Book Profits to be Donated to CT Charity

The popularity of “Christmas in Wine Country” has been an unexpected gift this year. I'm still not 100% believing that the book I self-published less than a month ago is a best-seller and currently in the hands of 20,250 people.
The best thing to do with a gift, of course, is pass along.
Over the weekend while my husband and I were watching the numbers of copies my book downloaded go up, we were also—as was the rest of the country—grappling with the horrific news of the school shooting in Connecticut. I lack the words to express how deeply reeling in grief I am over this tragedy.
But I do have the proceeds from my book. Everything the book earns this year I’m going to donate to a charity helping the families of the school shooting victims. It’s not much; it’s just a self-published a 0.99 cent ebook. But this holiday season it will be how I express my gratitude and send love to all those dealing with such inconceivable loss.
