Old Ghosts page 14 is scratching behind the walls
Page 14 of Politically InQueerect: Old Ghosts is up! In this episode: Todd makes a grab for the reins – can a rampaging Archer be stopped in time??? Read it here on Tapastic, or here on Studio NDR.

In other news, TCAF was several buckets of fun, and I sincerely hope I’m able to attend next year as well. I’m actually a little sad I’m not going to be at VanCAF in a couple of weeks (though Northwest Press WILL be there, so you can still get my book), but I gotta make the comics, ya know?
Speaking of which, I’m in the midst of penciling page 8 of 16 for my story for Beyond. It’s a lot of fun finally getting to work with these characters after all this planning. I frequently find that most of the actual personality development emerges with the pencils. I mean, I can make up traits for characters to have, but it’s not until I’m actually drawing them for real in the context of a story (as opposed to pin-ups or design roughs) that I learn, for instance, that Amihan REALLY hates the cold. Or that Tavaly is wound up and intense, in contrast to Juharfa’s resigned curmudgeonliness. (And yeah, I know these names don’t mean much of anything to you at the moment, but soon, my lovelies. Soon.)
Cheers,
Dylan

PiQue: Old Ghosts page 13 has arisen from the grave; also, TCAF and Beyond!
Page 13 of Old Ghosts is up! I don’t mean to suggest that stubbornness and a refusal to back down are common traits in Archer’s family, but … I do have “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty stuck in my head. Read it here on Tapastic, or here on Studio NDR.
In other news, I’ll be at TCAF this weekend, May 10-11, 2014! If you’re attending, you can find me and Northwest Press at booth 106.
I’ll also be presenting at the Queer Mixer on Saturday night (May 10). This event should be several buckets of fun if you’re a fan of queer comics (and if you’re reading this site, presumably you are, yes?) Here are the deets:
I will have a few sample pencil pages from my Beyond story available for viewing at TCAF, so if you want a sneak peek into the future you should definitely swing by.
Cheers,
Dylan

On buying prints of comics
I noticed recently that the “purchase webcomic” link at the bottom of a given comic’s page sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. I’m not exactly sure why – if I go update the nonfunctioning page without making any changes it starts working. There are hundreds of comics on this site. I am prrrrrobably not going to comb through and click “update” on each and every one. (Shockingly, there’s not a huge demand for editorial cartoons from 10 years ago.)
BUT, yes, prints are available whether the link works or not. If you want to buy a print and the link isn’t working on that page, please let me know (that’s dylan[at]studiondr[dotcom]). Originals for several comics are available as well – please email to inquire.
In my fantasy world of the future I’ll have a site with actual functioning ecommerce, but right now I’m too busy drawing this:

Page 12 of Old Ghosts drips down from the ceiling
Page 12 of Old Ghosts is up! This house is so haunted grand can’t even keep track of all the goings on. Read it here on Studio NDR or here on Tapastic.

Trivia for this page: I did indeed live in a house that, at one point, had a mysterious blood-like substance dripping from the ceiling. After confirming that the upstairs neighbors had not stabbed each other to death, we discovered their tub was leaking. The “blood” was most likely rust from old pipes.
In other news, as you may have seen in my previous post, I’m at the penciling stage of my story for Beyond. I’m sure I’ll have some teasers for you before too long. QUEER SCI-FI IS IMMINENT.
Cheers,
Dylan

Valley of Spiders goes to pencils

Razi from “Valley of Spiders”
Woo hoo! Got the editorial green light to start penciling my story for Beyond. Queer sci-fi/fantasy comics are IMMINENT. Not sure how many pages I’ll have managed to draw before TCAF, but either way, if you’re going to be there, feel free to stop by the Northwest Press table and ask to see what there is to see. I’ll also be at the queer mixer.
You may be wondering what effect, if any, this will have on the weekly updates for PiQue: Old Ghosts. The answer is hopefully none, though I can’t actually promise there won’t be a brief hiatus at some point. HOWEVER. I currently have seven pages in the buffer, so I’ve got a bit of a pad. At the moment things are looking good for an uninterrupted run. Travel can play hell with schedules, though, so. Ya know. But. Still. Anyway.
Soon enough I hope to be posting teaser pix from VoS pencils, so STAY CHOONED.
Cheers,
Dylan

PiQue: Old Ghosts Page 11 is coming from inside the house
Page 11 of Politically InQueerect: Old Ghosts is up! Archer puts on his Ruiner of Fun hat and … oh, I guess he already had it on. Read it here on Tapastic, or here on Studio NDR.

I’m in the midst of coloring page 18, and finished inking page 30 last night, so progress proceeds apace. Not likely that I’ll have the whole thing done before TCAF, unfortunately, but I should at least be able to ink everything. So if you’re going to be at TCAF, come by the Northwest Press booth to eyeball the whole damn story all at once.
Cheers,
Dylan
