Help Support Your Favorite Author: a “How To” List
It’s been just over a month now since the launch of Sheila Applegate’s book: Enchanted One, The Portal to Love. As someone married to an author, I know first-hand just how time consuming and sometimes all-consuming writing and promoting a book can be. It can be exhausting. But I also know that for an author, especially a first-time author, publishing a book is exhilarating, and for many, the fulfillment of a lifetime dream.
Think about it for a minute. Browse the shelves of a library or your local bookstore, or even Amazon.com, and you’re looking at exceptional efforts made by extraordinary individuals, each with a passion to share his or her message with the world.
Not everyone, including myself, has the inclination or ambition to make such a mark on the world. For those of us who don’t, unless you know an author personally, it is very easy to take their efforts for granted. A book, just one book, represents hours, months, sometimes years of toil and trouble. While some consider it a labor of love, others may consider their book the worst “assignment” ever. I know; I’m married to an author. Remember?
So what can we as readers do to support an author? Our favorite author? If you’re like me, and if you’re reading this post, I’m assuming you have an interest in doing so. And if you’re reading THIS post because you’re interested in supporting Sheila Applegate and because you believe in her message, then I’ll use her as an example. Here is what you can do to help spread your enthusiasm for Sheila’s work (or any other author dear to you)…

Buy her book, Enchanted One: The Portal to Love. Buy another one and gift it to a loved one. Or a friend. Or both.
Donate a copy to your local library.
TALK about the book. Word-of-mouth advertising is priceless!
Follow her Virtual Book Tour. But don’t just read her introductory blog posts. Click the links! Visit the hosts blogs (they’re awesome); write comments. Show some love! Bloggers LOVE comments! Internet search engines love links. Follow an author on a virtual book tour, participate, and you’ll help make “noise” online.
If she’s offering a reading at a local bookstore or other venue, like THIS one, GO! Ask her to sign your book.
Bring a friend with you!
Help arrange for a reading at a local venue.
Write a book review
Visit Goodreads. “Like” the book. Recommend the book. Leave a comment/review.
Visit Amazon.com. “Like” the author. Like the book. Recommend the book. Leave a comment/review. Same goes for any other online book seller site…
Are you a Twitter user? Borrow a link from the book tour and share with your followers. Or share your favorite quote. (Click to follow Sheila…)
Are you on facebook? “Like” the author and/or the book and tell your friends why you like it.
Are you a blogger? Ask your favorite author if he/she will provide a guest post
What other social media platforms do you use? Google+? Pinterest? Use them to help spread the word.
Share the book with your book club.
Start a book club!
Contact your favorite author and ask “what can I do to help spread the word?”

I Can See Clearly Now the Glass is Gone…
I can see All Obstacles Fall away….
It’s gonna be a bright bright Sunshiny day!
This variation of the Johnny Nash song “I can See Clearly Now” has been running through my head all day.
“Why?” You ask.
This morning as I was driving my daughter to school, I was acutely aware of how difficult it was to see out my rear window. The combination of frost and salt was clearly a factor but this seemed worse than usual and I was distracted by it more than seemed reasonable.
Then as I slowed down to turn into my driveway, there was a sudden popping sound and I watched through my rear view mirror as my entire back car window shattered into a thousand pieces in a matter of seconds. I was stunned and at the same time acutely aware that I could suddenly see with more clarity than I had ever seen through a back window before! The sky was an incredible blue. The sun was shining bright! When I began my morning meditation, it was clear to me the fog that had been so present over the past few weeks was suddenly gone and there is now a deeper level of clarity.
Many people have been expressing feelings of fog and difficulty focusing over the past few weeks since 2013 began.
I have been enjoying the energies of this new year. I have however noticed that some areas of my life have seemed suspended.
I am used to having clarity on ALL the little details in my life. Lately there have been areas that while I am sure are unfolding with perfection, I have not been able to see what is ahead… Surrender has been the word.
Something lifted this morning. I feel it… and apparently my window did as well. Sometimes we do not recognize the obstacles in front of us until they fall away. AND sometimes the obstacles in front of us are there to support us on our journey …a car window is very supportive, especially when the temperature is below zero!
I asked my Spirit guides about the symbolism of the rear window being a view of the past… and their answer was “Well it wasn’t safe to break your front windshield, was it?”
I appreciate their consideration!
However, I feel that perhaps this message is also about the clarity of my journey leading to this point. This is the moment in time when I can look back at ALL that has happened in my past and really say… I am HERE and ALL was bright and perfect because it led me to THIS moment in TIME!

“What if?” – a beautiful expression of the Twin Flame / Soul-mate Journey
This poem was written by one of my clients. I would like to share it with you hear because I believe it is a beautiful expression of the Twin Flame/Soul-mate Journey.
What if?
What if the feelings
we’re feeling were tangible
and not just emotions and imaginings
What form would they take?
What if the thoughts
and the conversations you have
Inside your heart
Were real,
And reciprocated
What if
your dreams,
And mine
Were the same
What if everything you felt -
The fears, the hurts the successes,
I felt too
on the other side of the world
With the same intensity
What if I knew you
Better than perhaps
You knew yourself
What if that blissful state
That we know together
Was our right
And the universe
had blessed us with it.
What if true love
as we have understood it
in the form of marriage
Wasn’t the truth at all
What if you cradled in your heart a part of me
And i cradled in mine, a part of you -
I think that would be true love.

The Habbada Spotlight
HABBADA HABBADA HABBADA!
You have heard me say it. You have seen me write it on Facebook…
It’s on my shirt, it’s on my car, it’s on my wrist band… even my kids are wearing Habbada!
So…What is HABBADA?!?!
Habbada is a word that my friend Rick Prairie made up to mean “All Things Good ~ And Don’t Worry about it”
It has such a great vibration to it that it instantly spread. Rick started making Habbada bumper stickers. Within weeks, people were rockin the Habbada bumper stickers across the country! There is even a sticker on a tank in Afghanistan!
Request for more Habbada merchandice started flowing in. So he began to make shirts, wrist bands.. even glasses!
Habbada is now an official business that raises money through sales of the branded name Habbada merchandise to donate to local organizations and individuals that needs a little support.
They have raised money for an injured soldier returning from war, Baby Easton and many others.
Each month Habbada shines it’s Spotlight on a member of the community who reflects the HABBADA motto:
“Live it, Love it , Share it! Creating Unity to Help Others.”
I am honored to be the HABBADA SPOTLIGHT~ this month and I am sharing the spotlight as part of my virtual book tour. I hope you will love Habbada as much as I do!
