ASMSG BLOG HOP FEATURING MAER WILSON
Instead of my usual Friday Reflections blog today, I’m participating in a blog hop from an author group I belong to, known as ASMSG. For that, I am interviewing and featuring my friend, Maer Wilson, who writes in the paranormal, urban fantasy, and sci-fi genres. At the bottom of this post you’ll be able to view all the other great authors participating in this blog hop and, if you check them out, you’ll discover some great writers there. My focus, however, is on Maer Wilson.
Hi Maer, and welco...

INTERVIEW FOR THE ILVN WEBSITE. MARCH 21, 2014
To coincide with the launch of THE PATH TO DECAY, on Friday I gave an interview on the I Love Vampire Novels website. You can see it here.
ILVN. Firstly, tell us about your book/series.
Shane: My series is The Dracula Chronicles. It is a sprawling, expansive new concept that combines the real historical Vlad Dracula and an entirely new version of Dracula the vampire, also based on the real man.
The books are historical novels of Gothic horror; religious corruption; political intrigue; war; trag...

FRIDAY REFLECTIONS – TRUE LOVE, DOES IT EXIST?
Friday reflections is the part of my blog where I talk about life, or of issues relevant to me, or just generally things I love or like, so that you have a better perspective of who I am.
TRUE LOVE, DOES IT EXIST?
This is one of those burning questions that has undoubtedly crossed all our minds at one point or another, most likely in a time of heartbreak or disillusionment. It is then that we usually question the concept of true love. For sure, in times of great happiness when we have been in a...

REVIEW of THE SECRET LIFE OF LASZLO, COUNT DRACULA by RODERICK ANSCOMBE
This was a difficult book to review. I was obviously drawn to the title of this book, but confess it has spent quite a few years on my book shelf gathering dust. There are many pluses and minuses to this piece of work, so I’ll work through them the best I can.
Firstly, at face value this was an exciting-looking Gothic horror novel, and I’m sure it was meant to look as such. Gothic it certainly is, which is a plus for me, but a horror it is not. That was an immediate disappointment that became...

COVER REVEAL FOR…THE PATH TO DECAY
Since the turn of the year, I have split The Dracula Chronicles into two clear arcs, to mark the two different story lines as they occur.
Books 1-5 now form the Vlad Dracula arc.
Books 6-10 form the Bound By Blood arc.
Therefore, the Vlad Dracula arc follows the story of the real historical Dracula and Lucifer’s manipulation of him. The Bound By Blood arc follows the story of Dracula the vampire on his journey through the ages to destroy the institution of the Catholic Church.
Today, I am deligh...

FRIDAY REFLECTIONS – WAKE UP! YOU’VE BEEN USED!
Friday reflections is the part of my blog where I talk about life, or of issues relevant to me, or just generally things I love or like, so that you have a better perspective of who I am.
This post today was written last year by a very good friend of mine, Maria Carmela Holman. I wanted to share it because it is very relevant to what has happened to me in my life in recent years, and if reading this can help someone else fall into this trap, then it is a worthwhile exercise.
YOU’VE BEEN USED!Ev...

DANIELLE DEVOR – CONSTRUCTING MARCUS
My friend, Danielle DeVor, has embarked on a book tour to promote her spooky YA novel, Constructing Marcus. Today, she visits the Dracula Chronicle’s blog to talk about the book.
Too Creepy? By Danielle DeVor
Constructing Marcus was my first attempt at a YA Paranormal Romance and since I usually write gritty fantasy/horror, it was an experiment in what I could and could not get away with. In this case, it was the “creep” factor.
Firstly, romances aren’t supposed to be scary. Nor are they suppose...

INTERVIEW WITH ANGIE AZUR
One interview last year I neglected to post was the one put to me by Angie Azur. Angie is a wonderful lady from California in the USA who, at the time, was an intern for the Andrea Brown Literary Agency. She posed some excellent questions.
What is the most interesting fact you’ve learned while researching Dracula?
I’ve had to do vast amounts of historical research as my first two books run from the 15thto the 17thcenturies and I’m a stickler for fine detail and getting things right. It’s hard t...
