Dream
Dream.
A little dream.
Dream of cream,
And strawberries,
Dream a dream of Scream
1, 2 or 3.
Or even dream about the spoof
Movie I forget the name of. Aloof
Or not, just dream!
Dream a theme dream.
Dream of conservation or politics,
Or of the importance of semantics,
I’m not really that bothered,
But dream.
Whether themes or cream or Scream
Or anything else,
Just make sure of one thing, please,
That you had better ruddy well dream!

Retro review #3: Aeroplanes
My wife likes buying old, cheap books for our young boys who we love but it’s not like we want to spend lots of money on them.
Sometimes you find great books, sometimes you find…

Aeroplanes
Published: 1972 by Macdonald and Company
Cost: 50c at a garage sale
We will end our three part focus on these old British non-fiction books with a book about planes.

Hmm… Not the most positive start when trying to sell the wonders of air travel to children.

No they’re not. They’re just called “passengers,” I’m sure of it.

And WHAT a mustache the pilot has! Ring-ding-ding!

Hang on a minute, where does this guy work? The merry old land of Oz? Let’s keep the readers’ feet on the ground here, people! I mean, who works in a building with a helipad? Where’s the guy gonna land?

Hang on a sec, where are you going with this? Don’t tell me…

NO! You did! You can’t show a man plummeting to his death in a kid’s book! First time I’ve seen this I have to say. Groundbreaking! (When the guy hits the ground, anyway.)

Correction: They didn’t fly at all.

Finally we get a piece of history in. But that must have been confusing for their mother. “Wright! I need you to milk the cow for some reason! “Coming mother!” “No, not you, the other Wright!”
An enjoyable read from start to finish, for passengers and airliners alike. I give this book 7/10 dead pigeon men.
How long did it take him to find all those feathers? And for what?!
