My Ideal Reading Space
Hi guys!
I saw a blog topic idea to describe my ideal writing space, and I thought it was brilliant! So here goes. First, there must be books. Books on three walls. Why only three you ask? Because the forth must be a wall of windows overlooking a beautiful beach. It should be a tropical beach, someplace warm where I can swim, or just dip my toes during moments of reflection for my next novel. (Hey, you said ideal, didn’t you?)
Back to the windows. They would retract, so when it was particularly nice, I could open them completely and basically be reading outside, listening to the waves gently lap at the shore. But what about the books? They’d be horribly damaged by the humidity? No they wouldn’t. I would have very sophisticated dehumidifiers installed in each shelf, carefully preserving each volume.
What would I have on those high tech shelves? Everything from George R. R. Martin, to J. K. Rowling to Amy Bartol, to Roald Dahl, to Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, to Lucy Maude Montgomery and everything in between. Of course I would have a special first edition area with books like Winnie the Pooh, The Count of Monte Cristo, Harry Potter, all of my Nicholas Sparks book (that’s right. Don’t judge.), and whatever other gems I can find.
What would the seating be like? I would have several options. One would be a swing chair that hangs from the ceiling, because who doesn’t want to swing. One would be a sectional with a foot stool built in. Not a recliner, because I don’t like how those lay back and you have to fight it to keep it reclined. Plus they tend to hit my ponytail if I’m wearing one. Lol. Plus, if I had a sectional, I could lay down if I wanted to, or sit up.
I would also make sure to have at least one dog and one cat present in my reading space. I find their presence calming, despite the way the cat tries to lay on my book, or keyboard as the case may be. The purring makes it cute. The drooling does not.
Since this reading room doesn’t exist, here are some pictures of some close seconds that would be amazing too.
OMG this view. It’s perfect. The only thing that would make it better is if the window popped all the way out and I could dangle my toes in.
Ok, so I do worry about water getting on the books, but, we’re talking in ideals here, so who doesn’t want a library bathroom?! Brilliant!
I’m willing to overlook the disorganization of this space because of the water being right outside the door. I mean, come on! It’s Venice!
This is kind of like the swing I had in mind. Although I’d have to sit in it to be sure. If it craned my neck at all, it would be a no go, but it looks cozy and inviting that’s for sure!
So, what did I miss? What makes up your favorite reading space? Let me know in the comments below!

Exciting things coming
We’re pretty excited about some new things coming here for Stephanie.
Not only is The Dead Room due to release in just a few days, we have an awesome plan under development to get Stephanie and her books plenty of exposure.
The Dead Room is the first of Stephanie’s books to get the royal treatment on marketing. You have have already seen there is a Goodreads giveaway running RIGHT NOW that will let readers from the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK enter to win one of two paperback copies. Currently there are 667 entries, so your chances of winning are pretty high! If you win, please leave a review and hand it off to your friends! I’m sure they’d be very happy to get a copy to read.
On the day of release, stay tuned to Stephanie’s Facebook Page and her Twitter account to have some fun interaction with her. Release day is always very exciting and Stephanie loves to hear from readers that they have or will get a copy to read and enjoy.
Also, we are so excited to announce there will be a Promotional Book Tours Book Blast and the kick off of an 8 week tour with Reading Addiction Virtual Blog Tours. Our goal is to point out each of the wonderful bloggers who have signed up to showcase The Dead Room. Please stop by their blogs and check them out. There just might be more giveaways to enter…
If you are one of the wonderful readers who decides to get your own copy of The Dead Room, please be sure to stop and leave a review at Amazon and Goodreads. We can’t tell you how much these reviews matter–books are one of those things where friends trust the opinion of friends. If you like the book, chances are your friends will too!
Another way you can help spread the news about The Dead Room is by voting for Stephanie’s book on Listopia. Goodreads has user created lists where readers can vote for their favorite books. Each book within one of these lists moves to the top with more votes. So many of these lists are FILLED with really awesome reads. It’s a fantastic way to learn about new authors in your favorite genres and helps other readers find out about the books that you like. Click here to see the Goodreads page and just scroll down a bit to see Listopia!
If you are a reader of ebooks, but you prefer Nook, Kobo, iTunes, or Play…stay tuned! All of Stephanie’s new releases moving forward will publish to all these wonderful retailers and devices.
Another general change that is going to be happening will be completely behind the scenes. We are going to give this website some love, but mostly it’ll be happening seamlessly with the search engines to attract possible new readers. Lots of technical stuff that I am learning, as I stumble through being the webmaster for this site.
Finally, one of the biggest chances we are going to start is with the newsletter! We can’t stay too much right now, but it is going to really step up our game plan. If you haven’t already signed up, there will be plenty to entice you to want to join. We still have planned to not fill your inboxes with too much mail–we all know what it’s like to get too much filler. There will be no more than two per month and we have so much planned for every other newsletter–I sure know I’d like to sign up! So if you haven’t signed up yet, keep watching Stephanie’s blog, Facebook page, and Twitter feed. You’ll know when the new changes have taken effect and you might just want to go ahead and sign up. It’s going to be awesome.

We are also excited to point out the young author’s opportunity provided at this festival. Sponsored by Publix, The Young Authors Conference offers elementary age children of all backgrounds to engage in the wonderful world of literature.
In preparation for this event, local classrooms will be provided titles of well known children’s books to inspire them to get excited for this conference. Children will be encouraged to read and write. Each child will write their own story which will be published and featured at the Conference! How exciting!

Stephanie has been invited to participate and will be showcasing her first novel, The Blackout. As many of you already know, The Blackout is a story about a catastrophic solar flare that interrupts the power grid throughout the eastern United States. Gary and Molly are separated by many miles and must learn to cope with this challenge to be reunited.
