Black Friday

That's a cynical name for a workday! lol... Yep, I'm going in to work again. I can't even look forward to Saturday, I'm working a 5.5 hour shift. Next week will be better, though. Weird, but better. I kind of wish I didn't have to have a job besides writing, although I don't know how full-time authors keep writing without coming to hate it.
I tried reading through a contract yesterday with a print-on-demand company. I only got as far as Section 4 on the first contract before I hit a road block. I think it's going to take longer to get Silver Princess into print than I'd like. I'm going to read through each contract and send a separate clarifying email for each one. After all that work, I sure hope I can agree to their terms! Otherwise, I'll have wasted a lot of time.

Another day...

I was really hoping to have Silver Majesty written by Thanksgiving, with just some reviewing to be done before I could submit it for copyright. Not quite there yet. I am way ahead of the editors, though. Probably isn't normal to be writing and getting edited at the same time, but it works for me.
For some reason, I can't quite get into writing today. It's not writer's block, exactly. I can grind out a few paragraphs at a time. I just don't have the enthusiasm that generates entire chapters without stopping to breathe. Of course, the fact that I'm not at home might have something to do with that...

A journey of a thousand smiles starts with a single laugh.

I once read of a man who watched comedy when he got stuck on a project. His mind and the problem were usually both unknotted by the end of the comedy, and he could get back to work. So, tonight I'm enjoying some Dick Van Dyke while I try to sort out how to tie the lines together - the pirates, the wedding, etc., etc....

Blog?

I've got a few minutes before work today, so I thought I'd give this a try. I've tried a few other things, like twitter...honestly, tweeting feels like standing in a group where everybody is talking to themselves. Not that I don't talk to myself, or that it seems terribly different from a blog, but at least here I can type more than one complete-ish thought at a time.
I really only have one thought at the moment. If I'd known how much "assembly" was required with self-publishing, I probably wouldn't have dared start. Copyrights, ISBN's, contracts, taxes...it's daunting, even with the plethora of guides and how-to articles, books, etc., that are available. But, I didn't know; and I did start. And I'm about 4/5th's of the way done with Silver Princess' sequel, Silver Majesty, so I'll be starting over again. lol...
