SHUNKA WARAK'IN! Was It Seen Near Laredo, Texas?

3 young men observed a hyena-like cryptid near Laredo, Texas in the early 1980s. Over the years, one of the witnesses firmly believes that this creature was a relict Ringdocus or Shunka Warak’in.

I recently received the following account:

"When I was about 17, my brother, a friend, and I were hunting in the wilderness behind our subdivision, just south of Laredo, Texas. The area was being developed, so we were walking through wide swaths - about fifty yards - of rough dirt that had been bulldozed through the mesquite, huisache, and palo blanco trees on the rolling hills. On either side of these swaths, which would one day be streets, were huge piles of dead trees, cacti, and grass.

It was a gray day, rainy and cold. I think it was December 1983 or January 1984. We were on our way home, walking downhill, in the middle of one of these open, dirt swaths. Then, we saw it.

At the very base of the hill, about 30-40 yards away, a large, black canid, a dog-like creature, ran from our left to our right. Leaving the tangled brush on one side and dashing into the tree pile on the other side. The way the animal moved and its shape made me think it was a hyena. However, hyenas are not black.

My brother and I just watched, as our friend raised his .22 rifle and fired all of his ammo at the running creature. He didn’t hit anything; he rarely did. He was always a terrible shot and tended to use “volume in place of accuracy.”

We saw the creature for maybe ten or fifteen seconds, as it loped across the opening. I never felt frightened, as it never looked towards us. It was just on the move. After it had passed, I turned to my brother, who must have been twelve or thirteen, and asked: “What did you see?”

“Hyena.” He said.

“Yeah, me too,” I said.

We made our way home, and later we continued hunting in those woods, never seeing that creature again. I had forgotten about it until I was in grad school in 2010.

I was reading a story about the “Shunka Warak’in,” a rare Native American cryptid. A specimen had been shot in the 19th century and its taxidermied body had been displayed in a general store for some time before being ”lost.” The article was about how the specimen had been found, and when I saw the photo, I thought, “That’s what we saw.”

I emailed the writer, saying that I believed that my brother, our friend, and myself, were the last living people who had seen a Shunka, relating the same story as above. I received no response.

I am a native Texan. My brothers and I have been lifelong hunters with guns and bows. We have hunted all over the state and know the animals that are in our woods. This was not one of them. It was not a coyote, nor was it a Mexican Wolf. It was not a dog. After much research, I think it may have been something like a relict ringdocus, a hyena-like canid that existed in the Americas in the past and is believed to have gone extinct about 10,000 years ago. Additionally, I am not an idiot bullsh*tter, we have plenty of those in Texas. I possess a Degree in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Texas State University-San Marcos. Before that, I served as a paratrooper in the 82d Airborne Division for a few years." A

KOKOGI 'SPIRIT MONSTER' Infests First Nations Reservation

"He said the second he got up, the Kokogi stood and ran into the woods, disappearing from the patio in a blur. Would it come back? What was it?"

The following account was forwarded to me several years ago. I don't believe that I ever posted it:

"I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll just write it all in chronological order from when I heard other people's stories and then experienced whatever it was for myself. To preface this, I should mention that all of this took place back home on my reservation (I'm Algonquin First Nation from Canada).

Another thing I should mention is that, on the Rez, traditional beliefs and legends of the paranormal are still a big part of our community. The attitude of most people towards the paranormal is one of assurance. To us, the paranormal is a regular part of life, we believe in a spirit world, and we believe that sometimes these "beings" can cross over into our world and maybe even live among us.

When I tell paranormal stories to my non-native friends, they're always in such disbelief that things like this have actually happened and how casually I talk about it, but it's only because it's been so normalized for me. Where they have absolutely no paranormal experiences, I have a bunch and almost everyone I know on the Rez has even more than I do. I don't really care to explain it, maybe we're all crazy from drinking our toxic tap water. I don't know.

Anyway, here's the story.

This all happened in the Fall of 2011 when I was 16 years old. I was living in a nearby city with my mom so that I could get a better education than the one I could get back home, but we'd go back every single weekend to see my dad and little brother. On a Friday, during the drive back home, I got a text from a friend of mine. She told me about a party that was happening that night and asked me when I'd be home so they could come pick me up. I gave her a time and that was that.

We got home and as soon as we stepped inside the house, we saw my dad and my cousin sitting at the kitchen table drinking some beers. They're both cops on the Rez, so usually, beers with his partner on a Friday evening, means that they had a particularly tough week at work. Typically, the toughest cases to deal with are child abuse and molestation, so a part of me felt sad immediately that something that bad had happened. They both look tired and drained, but they're happy to see us. We say our greetings and catch up a little, and my dad asks me if I have any plans. I tell him about the party and where it'll be, and he and our cousin share a weird look.

"Why are you guys making that face? Did something happen?" I asked.

"I don't know, should we tell her?" My cousin said, looking at my dad. He laughed, and they decided that I should probably know what's been going on since I'd be going to a cottage pretty deep in the woods later that evening.

They start with the first strange call they got on Monday night. An older woman called saying that people were outside of her house knocking on all of her windows. She said she couldn't see anybody, but there must have been at least three people judging by all the different locations of the knocking. They arrived at the woman's home, inspected all around the house, and even checked the woods, but nothing came up. They tell her that it's probably just some teenagers playing tricks on her and that there isn't much else they can do, besides patrol around the area in case they come back.

On Wednesday night, the same woman called again with the same problem. It had rained that day and there was mud all around this woman's home, so they figured that at the very least, they'd find footprints, but they couldn't find a thing. This is when they started feeling like something was off because one of the windows where the woman was adamant about there being knocking was completely impossible to get to without stepping through this huge mud puddle. This is when they started to think that the woman was lying, but they just told her the same thing they told her a few nights prior.

By Thursday night, everyone on the Rez had been talking about these strange experiences. It turns out, this woman wasn't the only one experiencing the knocking, she was just the only one to call the police. I mean, all of this was taking place on a Rez, so it wasn't long before people were linking it to supernatural causes. My dad was still sure it was just a group of teens pranking people, but then they got another call from the same woman for the same reason. They rushed over and were met with the same situation, except this time, the neighbour walked over looking pale as a ghost.

He says, "Is this about the knocking?" They notice he's a little shaky.

"Yeah, did you see something?" They asked him. The man nodded and said,

"You guys are gonna think I'm crazy, but yeah," and he goes on to explain what he saw. He said that he'd stepped outside for a cigarette on his front porch when he heard knocking. He looked around to see where it was coming from and when he looked at his neighbour's house, he saw it. There was a black figure standing outside the woman's window (the same one with the mud puddle I mentioned) looking into her home. He said it looked humanoid in stature, but completely made out of shadow. You could tell it was something solid-ish, but you couldn't make out any features on it. He stared at it, completely in shock, and watched the thing as it knocked a couple of times and then darted around the house knocking on every single window. He said it moved too fast to be human, it was practically a blur. It went around the house a few times, then ran across the road into the tree line, behind one tree in particular. The man was frozen, but he couldn't look away. It then leaned out from behind the tree, staring directly at him with yellow eyes that reflected the light similarly to a cat's, and then it smiled, showing its small, but numerous pointed and sharp teeth. "I almost sh*t my pants," he had attempted to joke, but his voice was still shaking.

Fast-forward to Friday, stories are being exchanged all over the Rez about other sightings and experiences people were having. On top of multiple people experiencing the knocking, there were also quite a few sightings with everyone describing the creature in the same way.

One woman was bringing her trash bin to the road when she thought she saw someone in her peripheral vision standing near the trees. She walked back up the driveway and into her home, feeling like she was being watched. Right before she was about to open her door to go back inside her home, she looked back and saw two reflective yellow eyes watching her from the trees. She said it was about 5 feet above the ground.

Another couple was driving at night and they saw a humanoid figure standing in the middle of the road. As they got closer, they slowed down, and it turned around to face them. That's when they saw the reflective yellow eyes and the sharp, pointed teeth as it smiled at them. They stopped the car, too afraid to go closer to it, until they decided to just drive past it. Being on a narrow road, they drove past it with the figure being only a few feet from the window, staring at them the whole time.

"You sure you still want to go to that party?" My dad asks, but my friends are already pulling into the driveway. I gave my family hugs and kisses goodbye, and they told me to be careful, but I felt fine. A common belief among Native people is that negative energy attracts negative energy, therefore an evil spirit will be drawn to people with unresolved issues, traumas, and "sinners" I suppose. If you're spiritual, self-aware, and basically a good person, that, in and of itself, will be protective.

I get to the party and within 20 minutes, the conversation shifts towards all the paranormal experiences people have been having. I'm really curious about what everyone has to say because they have stories that I haven't heard yet, but my friend (us being 16 and all) couldn't hold her alcohol very well and was crying about how she wishes she was closer with her brother. I was trying to make her feel better while listening to everyone's stories.

One of the people at the party was related to the neighbour of the woman who was calling the police. The experience really shook him up and my friend was just explaining everything that he was doing later on. For one, he smudged his entire home, which is something our people do when we're looking for extra protection against paranormal entities. He also went to visit multiple elders around the community asking for advice and any information they had on similar "happenings". What we do know about paranormal experiences on the Rez, is that they don't happen as often as they used to. If you talk to one of our elders, they have endless stories and even more advice to give about how to protect yourself compared to now. One of the explanations that was given to this guy about the "shadow thing" was that it was evidence that someone was doing an unauthorized 'shaking tent' ceremony. If you don't know what that is, you can look it up, but it's basically (and I'm generalizing) like a Ouija board session that takes place inside a tent of some sort. People stand around the tent, while the shaman-type dude goes inside and asks questions. The tent begins to shake and you can hear the voices of spirits coming through. I've never personally been to one, because we haven't had a good enough reason to make one, but typically our ancestors used shaking tent ceremonies when they were starving in the dead of winter and needed some direction on where the nearest food source was. My mom's been to one, and her story is absolutely crazy. She described multiple voices of men and women, only speaking the native tongue, and they were upset that the people were doing a shaking tent ceremony when they weren't on the verge of death. The people there had to explain that were only doing the ceremony to prove that it was real as we had been losing our culture as a result of residential schools, but the spirits were angry about this, saying that the bridge between the two worlds should never be opened unless absolutely necessary, because you don't know who you're communicating with. It could be evil spirits and it could be good ones, it could be ancestors, but you never know.

Anyways, the elders told him that this spirit crossed over into our world because of a shaking tent ceremony. Someone on the reserve has been doing them without consultation with the elders. So, we started thinking about who would do that, without proper guidance and without a good enough reason to do so.

Then two of the drunkest dudes at this point start saying crap like "Ah, I'm not scared, that thing could show up now and it couldn't do CRAP" basically egging it on. All of us were looking at each other like, why would you disrespect an evil spirit? That's exactly how you attract it to you, and that's when I decided to leave the sunroom where everyone was hanging out. I went to the living room to console my drunk, crying friend, when I noticed that the rocking chair outside on the porch was going back and forth. I looked away immediately, refusing to make direct eye contact, but I did look at it from my peripheral vision.

Anyway, I'm inside the cottage and I keep seeing this rocking chair going back and forth and back and forth, but another thing we're raised to do in our culture is to ignore paranormal experiences. Spirits feed on the energy that people put towards them, so if you freak out, if you get angry, if you yell at it, or start crying, that's exactly what it wants and it will stick around once it gets a reaction. It thrives on energy of any kind, so while I knew something fucked up was happening on the rocking chair, I wasn't about to pay it any attention. 5 minutes or so goes by and I'm still seeing it move in the corner of my eye.

That's when my friend screams and she runs to the other side of the sunroom. My other friend sprints to where the girl is sitting and busts through the French doors onto the balcony. All of this happens in a split second, but I immediately go to the patio and ask what's going on. The girl is crying on the couch with friends all around her, she claims to have seen the spirit (which we later nickname Kokogi, Algonquin word for 'monster'). She said she was listening to the boys talk about the spirit when she saw the boy's face as he was looking out onto the balcony behind her. She turned around to see what he was looking at, and directly on the other side of the window, was the shadow spirit sitting on the rocking chair, smiling at her, literally three feet from her. That's when the boy sprints towards it and busts through the French doors.

I walk outside to find the boy and he's on the lawn, staring into the woods. I call his name and he looks up at me. All he says is "Get everyone inside" and the tone of his voice just makes me automatically obey. I get all the drunk teenagers inside the cottage. This is when the phrase "come at me, bro" was just gaining popularity, so you could imagine the drunk kids yelling that into the woods, it was terrible. I eventually get everyone inside and the girl is now in a trance, freaking everyone out. She doesn't speak to anyone, she doesn't say anything but "I want to go home."

The boy comes back inside and tells everyone to clean up, and that we should leave as soon as possible. Everyone has trash bags and is cleaning away all the beer bottles and cans. Everyone goes into the cottage and it's only me and the other boy in the sunroom now. I look to him for answers and all he says is, "It's outside." I nod and start cleaning faster. The sooner we're out of here, the sooner we're away from that thing. As we're cleaning in the sunroom, we hear knocking on the windows in multiple places. The entire sunroom is made of glass, but it's dark out, so you can't even see outside. I immediately look at the boy and he just says "Ignore it."

Within two seconds, someone comes running out of the bathroom and says "I'll kill whoever's outside knocking on the bathroom window" but everyone's inside and accounted for. Someone else comes running out of the bedroom saying that there was knocking on the window in there as well. Now, everyone's freaking out, and me and the boy, and our one other friend are the only sober ones to calm everyone down. We get the place clean and get outside to the cars immediately. Everyone's getting into the trucks and I'm standing with the boy, he's relaxed, but then all of a sudden looks behind me and shoves me inside his truck. We peel out of the driveway and drop everyone off.

A few days later, I end up hanging out with the same boy and he tells me the story from his perspective. He said, that when the boys started talking crap about the spirit, it appeared on the rocking chair behind the girl. He said he made eye contact with it, and couldn't look away. They were staring each other down, and that's when the girl saw his expression. He said it was instinct to defend the people he was with and ran towards it. He said that the feeling he was getting from the Kokogi was almost like he was daring him to do something. He said the second he got up, the Kokogi stood and ran into the woods, disappearing from the patio in a blur. He ran off the porch and was looking around the lawn, when he saw it standing at the tree line, looking right at him with a smile on its face. He said the whole time it felt like it was mocking him. I called the boy's name and it disappeared. He didn't see it again until everyone was getting into the trucks, which explains why he suddenly pushed me inside. He said that it was standing on the far end of the truck, super close to us. Later that night, when he'd dropped everyone off, they realized that they never locked the door, so he went back to the cottage, but his friend (whose cottage it was) was too scared to go in. He goes in by himself, but the second he opens the door, he sees the thing standing inside the living room. He locks the door as quick as he can, and they peel out of the driveway.

So yeah, sightings continued for a few days after that. We definitely weren't the only people on the Rez to have experiences like this, and then it stopped all of a sudden. It was the talk of the Rez, everyone was curious about what happened to it. Would it come back? What was it? Etc. But word ended up getting around that there were sightings north of our community. White people in the town just north of us were having sightings, and then other reservations were having sightings as well. It was like it was traveling north, the way the stories were going.

Anyway, it's 2018 now and no one else on my Rez has had any sighting of this particular thing.

But yeah, that's my story." H

I STRONGLY FEEL THAT I HAVE A BIGFOOT PROBLEM!

"I'd say it was at least 7 feet in height. But whatever it was had, literally, glowing red eyes. I looked at it for about 15 seconds, then it quickly vanished."

I received the following account:

"Hello. During the past 5 months or so, there has been strange activity around my property and the area surrounding it. I strongly feel that I have a Bigfoot problem. Here is what has been going on.

I live alone in a rural part of northern Arkansas, in the Ozarks. My closest neighbor is about a half mile down the road. Each evening before dusk, I walk my two dogs along the road and occasionally into the woods.

Since early September, when we'd reach an area near the edge of my property during our walks, small rocks, and branches have been hurled from the woods in our direction. In fact, one evening my pit bull was hit in the hindquarters, hard enough to cause swelling. The dogs have reacted violently during a few walks, but not all the time. Because of the initial activity, I decided to walk my dogs in the other direction along the road.

About 3 weeks ago, the same activity started along the new route. For the past few days, I have just allowed the dogs to roam on their own in the yard and woods around my house. I figured that the dogs would avoid any danger and stay clear of whatever was in the area. I believe that they have been OK, and have returned to the house after 10 minutes or so.

Now I have another problem. On January 18th there were blood-curdling screams coming from the woods behind my property. I have never heard anything like it before. It sounded like someone or something was in terrible pain, and it was coming from several directions. The dogs cowered in the basement and would not come upstairs until the next morning when I left them outside. When I opened the back door, there was a horrific stench that still lingers in the air. It smells like old roadkill, to be honest. The dogs stayed in the yard, and quickly did their business and ran back into the house.

One night, it was fairly quiet, but around 10 PM I noticed something bizarre near the woodpile at the back of my yard. I could barely make out the large tall form as I watched from my porch. I'd say it was at least 7 feet in height. But whatever it was had, literally, glowing red eyes. I looked at it for about 15 seconds, then it quickly vanished.

I told my brother about the incident, and he suggested that it may be a Bigfoot. He gave me your email after searching online. If we could talk, that would be great." H

NOTE: I called the witness and discussed the incidents. He has lived in the house for over 10 years and has never experienced anything unusual previously. The witness is skeptical when it comes to the paranormal, but he truly believes that he has a Bigfoot-like being in his vicinity. At this point, he asked that I not be specific about his location when posting the account. I will keep in touch with him to assess any further activity. Lon

Michigan Couple Twice Encounters HUMAN-FACED FELINE On All Hallows Eve!

"My parents were driving at night on All Hallows Eve when suddenly a large slender/lanky feline animal crossed the street making them slam on the brakes."

I received the following inquiry:

"So, this is a story my mother has told me. These sightings came from Michigan, northwest of Flint, south of Saginaw. The story goes that my parents were driving at night on All Hallows Eve in 1976 when suddenly a large slender/lanky feline animal crossed the street making them slam on the brakes. When this thing turned its head to look at them my parents were horrified to see that it had a human face! This happened the following year, on the same road and same day (All Hallows Eve).

I don't have many more details. My mother was raised in a family from north Michigan where strange things would happen in the forest but no one would talk about it. They believed if you didn't give any attention to the creature it could not gain power, or something like that. So anytime she would start to bring this up my father, or another family member would shut her down.

I am the curious type, I like to have facts and knowledge. Have you heard of anything like this before either in Native American mythology or know of things happening in that area? Please let me know.

I have found 2 possibilities of what this could be from others I have talked to. A Wampus cat or a Sidhe cat. Wampus would be more likely because it’s included in folklore in this area. However, the physical description that was given to me when I asked for more details reminds me a lot of the Sidhe cat found in Celtic/Scottish mythology and folklore. It’s said that it’s a witch that can transform into a cat 9 times. If they transform into a cat for the ninth time they remain in cat form. This is possibly where cats having nine lives come from.

I don’t really believe in a lot of this, however, there must be some unknown creatures that made people create these stories." E

NOTE: Since the witness saw the same thing twice, on All Hallows Eve in subsequent years, and at the same location, seems to suggest that it was a residual energy that manifests on the same date or possibly a thoughtform manifestation created unconsciously by the witnesses. RED, GLOWING-EYED COUPLE Encountered on Arkansas Campus!

"As I reached them and made eye contact in the somewhat dimmer light, he looked at me. His eyes were red. I don’t mean, the whites of his eyes. Like his whole freaking eye glowed red!"

The following account was passed on to me:

"I’m a very observant people-person so I’ll explain what happened as concisely as possible. It was 1985, and my second year at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and I was living on the upper floor of a co-ed dorm. It was going into Fall so the nights were starting to get just a slight chill.

I came home late Friday night, more like the early hours of Saturday from dancing and partying with friends. My dorm had a private fenced-in parking lot in front and free-to-others type parking behind it. Since I came home so late, literally every spot was taken in the private parking lot and I had to park my car down the hill behind the dorm.

Saturday night rolled around and even though I was still sporting a bit of a hangover my friends talked me into going out that night. The private parking lot was lit with huge street lights and so was the street that ran in front where the sidewalk led you to the back lot. I took off through the parking lot, stepped onto the sidewalk, and noticed a couple arm-in-arm walking my way. I don’t think anything of it other than I was going to have to step aside and let them by as I made my way past.

Both were dressed like they’d already been out having fun. As I reached them and made eye contact in the somewhat dimmer light, he looked at me. His eyes were red. I don’t mean, the whites of his eyes. Like his whole freaking eye glowed red! I don’t want to sound nuts but it was like they were an animal's eyes reflecting in a spotlight at night. A projecting glow. Then she glanced my way as I was passing and her eyes were exactly the same, a solid red glow. It freaked me out bad.

I ran to my car and went out to party. I didn’t tell anyone because I figured they’d think I was 'seeing things.' But, I’ve never seen anything like that since. I guess I’d put it out of my mind until I was talking to my spouse one night and the memory surfaced like a nightmare. Of course, I’m not scared now, that was decades ago. I didn’t know what they could have been but it was also the way he continued to stare as I passed that really unsettled me. I don’t think I was supposed to see that." E

TALL, LANKY HUMAN-SHAPED 'SHADOW BEING' Encountered on Portage, Indiana Road

"I sat there terrified, waiting for the light to turn green, terrified that it was following me. After what felt like an eternity, the light turned green and I sped the rest of the way home."

I received the following account:

"Hi, Lon. I have been reading about people's encounters on Phantoms & Monsters, especially those about the Chicago Mothman sightings, and it has made me think about past creepy experiences I've had. One in particular had resurfaced in my mind last night.

So I grew up in Portage, Indiana. This encounter happened in 2021, though I don't remember the month. It happened before I moved out of my mother's house, and the trees had full foliage, so it was late spring to mid-summer.

The night that it happened, I was hanging out at my boyfriend's apartment. I hung out there almost every night of the week and would return home at around 10-11 pm. It was always dark when I drove home, and until this night I had never really seen anything weird. It was only a five-minute drive from my boyfriend's apartment to my mother's house.

About halfway through the drive, there is an intersection. If you go straight, you drive onto a short stretch of winding road with woods on both sides. On one side of the road, there is a small trail that follows it and cuts through some of the woods. It is a very beautiful walk during the day and a great place to spot deer in the morning. At the end of the road, there is another intersection that meets a larger busy road, which I would use to get to my mother's house. The trail turns into a normal sidewalk at this intersection.

So I'm driving on this stretch of road, and I'm getting close to the next intersection. There are no street lamps, so the only light source is coming from my headlights. The trail is to the right of me, and I see this tall, lanky shadow start to walk out of the tree line. As I pass, it continues to walk straight towards the road, almost right into my car. Now, I didn't really process what I saw until I had already passed it, So I didn't stop or even slow down. Despite this it seemed to not care that it almost walked right into my car, it didn't even hesitate. It almost felt like it knew I was coming. Once I realized what I saw, I started freaking out. I got to the intersection, but the light was red. I sat there terrified, waiting for the light to turn green, terrified that it was following me. After what felt like an eternity, the light turned green and I sped the rest of the way home.

Now, let me give you a more detailed physical description of this shadow figure. It was completely black, with no discernible features. Even in my headlights. It was at least 8-9 feet tall. Very long, skinny arms and legs. It was bipedal and walked with a large stride. Its head was round and looked a little small compared to the other proportions of the body. Definitely humanoid-shaped. I don't think it was a crawler, due to the shadow-like appearance, and how comfortably it walked on two legs. It definitely wasn't a person.

Also, on a side note, A friend of mine had a scary experience while biking down this same trail at night. He heard what sounded like a woman screaming. I don't know if those incidents are connected, but it's interesting to think about." H

TWO OTHERWORLDLY ENTITIES IN ROBES Seen Sitting & Eating in Church's Chicken!

They each had bluish, reddish-purple, and gold robes that almost shimmered. They were sitting across from each other and it looked like they were eating!

The following account was forwarded to me:

"I still don’t believe this, and I hate that I’m even putting this out there, but I’m coming to terms with the fact that this did actually happen. Honestly, this encounter changed me forever.

Sometime in the early 2010s my ex-girlfriend of 10 years and I saw two beings in a very unlikely and odd place. The time was about 1 am and we were driving through Petersburg, Virginia. As we are coming to a stop at a red light we turn and look to our right and about 100 feet away is the restaurant (Church's Chicken, 108 S. Sycamore St.). Now mind you this place is closed for the night and all the lights inside are off except for 1 and it’s right above the two beings.

They must have had some kind of way to make me and my ex unable to remember what the faces looked like but neither of us had ever seen anything like them. They definitely were not people. They sat across from each other at the window seat with a single light illuminating them from above. This light was part of the restaurant, not anything from a ship or portal or anything. Now not only were they sitting down across from each other but they seemed to be eating!

The one thing we do remember is the fact that they each had bluish, reddish-purple, and gold robes that almost shimmered. We must have sat at the light for what seemed like forever as it cycled from red to green and back while we were essentially dumbstruck. Cell phone cameras were not the same as today and honestly, we were both in so much shock that all we could manage to do was stare at the beings looking back at each other in disbelief saying 'WTF' over and over again.

We did pull off and away from the light but it was out of fear honestly. After realizing that we may be seeing something we shouldn’t we drove off very fast. If you know of any therapists that specialize in people who have experienced odd things with witnesses please let me know because it is still very disturbing when I stop and rethink about that evening." S

FACELESS BEING 'VANISHES' Before Young Witness (November 1883)

The following odd article was published in the 'Maryland Standard' newspaper on November 1, 1883. Bigfoot has been seen and reported in the same area in the modern era.

A QUEER OLD BUGABOO

What a little miss saw as she skipped along to the spring.

"A remarkable incident happened to a little daughter of Captain William L. Pratt, of King George County, Virginia, last Monday evening. At three o'clock she started to the spring, about two hundred yards from the house, for a bucket of water. When about halfway, in passing a peach tree near the path, an indescribable sensation came over her. Her hair felt as though it was standing on end and a heavy pressure on the shoulders almost crashed her to the earth. With difficulty, she walked to the spring, got her water, and started back.

Arriving at the same tree something came out of the weeds in front of her, crossed the path, and disappeared. The object appeared to be moving just above the ground, but not touching it. It was covered with something like an old coat, with the sleeves hanging down, one on each side. Its head was covered with short, kinky hair and it seemed to have no face, eyes, or feet. Its disappearance in an open space seems to be the mystery and the further fact that the weakness and pressure left the little girl as soon as it disappeared.

The little girl was very much alarmed at the time and says while this object was passing she could not have moved out of her tracks or spoken if her life depended upon it. The mother reports that she was as pale as a corpse when she reached the house. Her father, Captain Pratt, was in town, and she feared it was a token of some accident that had or would happen to him. She watched steadily for him until he got in sight of the house on his return when she clapped her hands for joy and shouted: "Papa is coming." Captain Pratt says he is not a believer in ghosts or supernatural things, but this is a mystery that he can not explain and which is giving him much concern. The little girl is about eleven years old."
