Title can't be blank

Are our tools which make almost everything *easy* making us less tolerant of the *difficult* important things? “It’s easy or I don’t do it.”

Evolution is pretty much over for homosapians. Technology will do the grunt work from now on. We're smart enough.

While high-tech is doing the "heavy-lifting" in your life, there is no need to give a thought for your soul. ObamaCare has your back. Got a tough test coming up? Buy the answers or pay a slider to take the test for you.

Thousands of years back, Philosophy, the love of Truth, was key; but now sugar-coated lies cover all the harsh bitter-acid facts of our Day-To-Day.

If it hurts too much there's a drug for that! If it takes too long, there's an app for that!

What? You think you're a failure? Nah, you just need a software upgrade and a new regimen of meds.

Oral Sex Is Safer Than Twitter!

pic of tweet

Oh, please. Michael Douglas licked a Twitter avi.

This tweet is sort of an "inside joke." For years, there has been this recurring theme on Twitter of loving a Twitter Crush so much that when you see their avatar on your device, well, you lick it.

For a couple of weeks, Michael Douglas was trending; probably some off-hand remark (are on-tongue remarks now going to be a thing? ) Mike made about his cancer and oral sex. Then we had the doctors "officially" declaring that Douglas did not get his cancer licking anything between any ladies legs, keeping the story alive and slobbering!

So please: When your Love Object appears on your Smart Phone or Digital Device, save your tongue-play for the REAL DEAL!

@hg47

P.S. -- How does this relate to books? I don't know. Is licking books a thing? In a few years, I'm sure OSHA and the EPA will both come out of the closet when it comes to licking eBooks!

Nobody Loves You Like The Way I Do

pic of tweet

Nobody loves you, until Everybody loves you, but then Most People hate you, but hide it.

They are famous because they were famous last week and people are still focused upon them right this minute.

Nobody wants to hear about anyone they haven't already heard about.

I'll think about reading a new book when and only when the book's title is blaring at me every time I go on the Internet, but I'll read the puppy when my best friend then demands that I read it!

We don't want to hear your name, until we can't help ourselves, and are humming your name in the elevator, unconsciously, when we then, REALLY HATE YOUR NAME, But Have To Smile And Pretend To Like Your Name.

Welcome to Success!

@hg47-haters

Forget Writing For An Ideal Reader.

Whenever I try to blog a nice paragraph or two about Heinlein, I get jumped on by Heinlein-Haters who try to throw me into a black hole synchronized to a sun: I don't get stretched into dead spaghetti, I get flashed to toast.

I hope one day to have flash-mobs of passionate @hg47-haters who Google-search the Internet hourly for any hint of a positive @hg47 mention, So They Can Fix That Before It Becomes A Serious Problem!

As writers, we need the readers who HATE our work nearly as much as we need those readers who LOVE what we do. Be Honest: if nobody hates you, how good are you really?

Sadly, stats & awards & famous blurbs & ★★★★★ reviews aren't worth one mind-ready "It's Awesome!" from a GoodReads Friend.

Or maybe not so sadly. The harder impersonal media pushes at us, the softer we wait for a true friend to jump in first and then share their personal experience with us.

Why Did You BLOCK Me?

pic of tweet

The Internet has little to do with transmitting Truth, but is more about inoculating people against the harmful effects of the Truth

Television and Radio are PUSH: Program Directors and Editors and Media Experts determine what you will see and hear.

The Internet is PULL! You choose which links to click on. You decide which news titles and links interest you enough to read the article. You Pull in only the information that pleases you.

You choose which social media sites to spend your time on. Friending and Following is easy: you see and read what your "online friends" show you, what they have to share. When an "online friend" disturbs you by showing you something you don't like, they are "unfriended" with the click of a mouse. If they really piss you off, you can BLOCK them, report them as SPAM, or otherwise try to get them kicked off the site: "No one should have to see such crap! Nobody should have to listen to that nonsense!"

It's the Birds-Of-A-Feather-Flock-Together syndrome gone global. The Internet coddles and pampers us by reinforcing our prejudices, isolating us into pockets of unreal fantasy virtual interactive environs where everyone we encounter thinks like we do! Heaven!

Or, from another perspective, Hell, as the Net becomes less a tool to cope with REAL 3D LIFE and expand our options in REAL 3D LIFE. Nope. The Net is now the ultimate escape from REAL 3D LIFE.

And coming soon to a Net near you: 3D!

Are YOU "The Next Big Thing?"

pic of tweet

Everybody’s looking for THE NEXT BIG THING, but nobody online wants to hear about anyone they haven’t already heard about.

The best writers who ever lived are alive right now, writing right now. Statistically, it has to be so. Less clear to me, is whether these awesome writers are finding enough readers to pay their rent. Or any readers.

I've been writing forever and twenty minutes, but I have yet to find a promotional gig. Every move I make to draw interest to my work is the wrong move, and backfires.

The long tail is getting longer. Everyone will be published for 2 books. Fewer readers every month; more writers every month. See the trend?

cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation

pic of tweet

Little Tweets of Truth, like firefly flashes, if there are enough of them, can light up a whole country.

Yeah, but sometimes I feel like my tweets are just the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation. Ultra-sensitive scientific instruments are necessary to even detect my tweets.

HOW TO PICK UP CHICKS

pic of tweet

♀: “Aren’t you going to buy me a drink?”

♂: “You can get any guy in here to buy you a drink. You don’t need me for that.”

♀: “Take me home?”

If you're a guy who wants to learn how to pick up chicks in bars, go read "SURELY YOU'RE JOKING, MR. FEYNMAN!" by Richard P. Feynman.

What? That's not the book you expected me to recommend?

Go read the book. Then we'll talk.
